In memoriam Ofra Haza (1957-2000) and her wonderful music.
Bat-Sheva Ofra Haza (Hebrew: בת-שבע עפרה חזה) (19 November 1957-23 February 2000) was an Israeli singer, songwriter and actress, commonly known in the Western world as "the Madonna of the East". Her voice has been described as a tender mezzo-soprano.
Of Mizrahi Jewish (Yemenite-Jewish) descent, Ofra's music is known as a mixture of traditional Middle Eastern and commercial singing styles, fusing elements of Eastern and Western instrumentation, orchestration and dance-beat, as well as lyrics from Mizrahi and Jewish folk tales and poetry. By the late 1980's, Ofra was an internationally successful artist appearing regularly on MTV. During her singing career, she earned many platinum and golden discs and her music proved highly popular also in the club scene. By the 1990's, she regularly featured in movie soundtracks, such as that of Dick Tracy (1990) and the Prince of Egypt, and her vocals were popularly sampled in hip-hop too.

Adaptation: Nancy Brandis
Originally from a radio record from 1987. The song was written to mark the 100 years of industry in the Land of Israel. Ofra is accompanied by the chorus of the Haifa Refineries.
Lyrics (English translation):
This is a song for the entrepreneur, for the perfecter of the product
For the farmer, for the milk man
This is a song for the engineer, the draftsman, the singer
And with that mouth we will sing from the heart
For the airplane designer, for the textile worker
For the manager of the carpentry factory
For those who pour the steel, who drill the missile
For all these we will sing and sing

Tnu Lanu Yad Ve’nelech (Give Us A Hand And We’ll Walk) - Ofra Haza's FIRST RECORDING FROM 1973!
I love Ofra, I bought her Vinyl of Shaday from 1988 some weeks ago😍😍😍
Wish I could have been there to see this !
Who is the man on the right
He is David Ben-Gurion, the primary national founder and first prime minister of Israel. He declared independence for the Jewish state.
Ohh Poor Ofra 💔 🕯️😢
On the English, I have listened to Ofra since 1989 and am quite familiar and comfortable with her accent. I believe she is saying “One day I’ll fly; the sky above will be mine.” I believe this even more so in the light of her previous song, “I Want to Fly.” This song is haunting and powerful. Perhaps one day it will be released as a memorial to her legacy.
Many thanks for posting. Ofra's swan song and her greatest public performance. That resounding voice soaring to the heavens as though invoking the spirits of the ancients to treasure and protect the Holy City. Awesome, inspiring, magnificent - unforgettable!
There were a few off brand Disney movies that blew my mind, The Iron Giant and this one. Everything just comes together perfectly.
Gyönyörű, ahogy magyarul énekli, olyan átéléssel, mintha tényleg a fiától búcsúzna a dalban. Imádom!
Sha in sha Layka
Inside you! You must see!!!!
It's sad that an artist who can sing such a wonderful song is no longer with us. Since I learned that, sometimes I cry when I listen to this song.
💙

Like an Japanese pop singers singing an song for a anime.😊
Men without women

In your infobox is an error: The Golden Album that contains "Fighter" is from 1986, with a reedition in 1995. Greetings from Spain.
Thank you!
Sounds so divine.
Hermosa 😍
This video was realesed as pax commercial after ofra got campain of Pax company of selling houses . The big boss wanted a singer well known that can publish his company and be the face if it. Hey not have done a lot in this movie but it’s such a gem when she’s on screen.
R.I.P! Beautyful Woman!
Im Nin’ alu is ancient jewish prayer from 17th written by Rabbi Shabazi and performed amazingly in song by Ofra Haza.
Kaddish palestine children, innocent women and men.
Would be so beautiful if she becomes the Cherubim that replaces Lucifer.
Thanks for posting this clip. As well as her impeccable vocal talents, I have always been struck by Ofra's sartorial elegance. Doesn't she look a prime picture here? In the land of haute-couture, I am sure that her many French devotees would appreciate not only her pronunciation of the song's lyrics but also the style and grace of her dress sense!
Any idea where they filmed a lot of this music video?
Sorry, no idea.
@@theexiledqueen0223 ohh okay. May’ve been when she was in London.
So sweet, cute and beautiful in the is video.
Matti Caspi's original is much more soulful. This version doesn't touch me as much.
I have to agree.
The very opening makes me think of the Breaking Bad theme 😅 maybe they ripped it off.
Thank you for the lyrics!!! I have loved this song since I first heard waaaay back in 1992. It has been my own persona anthem and mantra. When I went through very dark times, this has been my theme song.. even if all the doors are closed, the Gates Above are NEVER closed. The full poem invokes the imagery of the Prophet Ezekiel with the Merkevah and G-d's glory and power. :)
This song is my third favorite after Im nin Alu and Show Me. thank you for the lyrics.. I always wondered what they were! Thank you!!
I was so sad when Ofra died. I still listen to this just to remember her a little bit. Wonderful woman.
Beloved Angel ,we´ll never forget you , Ofra Haza forever
Ethernal masterpiece
It really sounds like her early-mid 80s tone
How Is this album called?
Shir Hashirim Besha'ashu'im (The Song of Songs In Amusement)
Hope yo I can upload again soon! 🙏🏻 Wishing for the day when we get Ofra’s very final (unreleased) songs.
Wishing so much for a “Lazarus” moment. 💔🙏🏻
Resurrect Oh Ofra!!
Very beautiful!
A Serbian poet, speaking about the premature and tragic death of one of our great actresses said "EITHER THERE IS NO GOD, OR HE TAKES ANGELS TO KEEP HIM COMPANY". Every time I hear Ofra Haza I remember those words. Rest in peace, angel Ofra.
Sad but beautiful 😥 Thank you for sharing ❤️
Thank u for uploading this
You're very welcome! 😊
