I don't know why anybody would want to do comparisons. Each guitar player has their style of playing. That's it there's no other way to explain it if you're a good guitar player do you know your instrument backward and forward. So stop with the comparisons.

there is no comparison, Blackmore created the riffs, built the hits together with the band, he is a great guitarist, but Morse is technically much superior, I watched the full band show here in Brazil without Blackmore and with Morse, the Band kind of became an extension of the Steve Morse Band, I loved it, I'm a fan of Morse, and I'm a fan of Deep Purple, but I know that Blackmore's die-hard fans didn't like it, hahahaha

Wrong. Comparing these two guitarists is wrong. Ritchie wrote those great notes, Steve had to replace him. He did his job and played that notes perfectly. Why to compare?

The question is not what kind of guitarist he is, not how technical or expressive he is. Maybe Chopin was a virtuoso in his time. But pianists all over the world play Chopin at competitions, competing not in technique, but in their vision of the music and empathy in it. Blackmore played easily, naturally. Sometimes not seriously, even missed, like a schoolboy. And it's okay that someone copies him so that it even turns out better than Blackmore. And there are such. But Blackmore created the music! We worship him. And to the best performer - respect and hurray

Both are great. Irrespective of the fact that Blackmore invented many memorable solos and wrote iconic songs his improvisations on stage were always messy since he copied Hendrix's improvisation style. Morse is highly professional and musically taught musician, he just cannot make messy solos. Every note matters for him. He is from new generation highly skilled musicians with high fusion influence. But I like them both and in late 90s and early 2000s I listened with great interest DP with Morse - Purpendicular, Bananas are also in my top DP albums as well as Perfect Strangers and all MK1-MK4 ones. Although childhood memories and freshness of DP with Blackmore I can't erase I would give a huge credit to Morse for modernization of DP sound. Just coping Blackmore would be a suicide. In mid 90s Blackmore was simply exhausted and his talent's gone. His Blackmore's Nights albums I can't listen, boring. Although I would give him credit for a try and evolution. Not my cup of tea.
