I love basil too. Very much. The colours are beautiful.
hi Greta, 2nyears ago we moved to Renews-Cappahaden and I am thinking of starting a garden. I am not a gardener though. I appreciate your videos. Can you tell me where do you get your seeds?
Hi Greta. Greetings from -17C Kamloops : ) I need to start a few seeds tomorrow . I will do peppers to start and leeks. Learned last year that you can cut down leeks and they will grow again !
Hello Carla. So you left the leek base in soil and it grew back. That's great to know! I must try this. You are definitely chilly there, but will see spring sooner 😀
What are your top vegetables for direct seeding?
Great question. It's definitely my preferred way to go. I direct sow peas, lettuce, Asian greens, parsnips, beets, Swiss chard, carrots, turnip, rutabaga and beans. At appropriate timings. Take care!
@@gretasgardennice! Thanks, you too
Good video
Thank you Caroline 🤗
👍👍👍
Thanks Michael 🤗
A foot of snow here Greta ❄️❄️. I have always gardened but was definitely grateful to have had that opportunity during lockdown down and the big C. Not a lot getting done here but it’s great to be able to see others enjoying themselves gardening. Have an amazing week, Ali ❄️❄️⛄️🇨🇦
Thank you, Ali. Not too much snow here at the moment. It is smart to grow our own for sure. Have a fantastic week
I have grown dwarf sprouts for a couple of years but with disappointing harvest yields so I am returning to standard sprouts grown against an old brick wall for support. 😊
And that is for sure how each find what works best for us. It's fun too! Take care 🤗
I've been thinking of doing more this year as well. It's disgraceful what's happening to our country and I'm sorry our idiots are causing havoc the world over, especially for our dear neighbors and historic partners. Thanks for the recommendations, Greta, I've taken note.
Hello Bernard, thank you. Sad times, yes. I have to plan how to economically squeeze more in. 😀 Hope all is wonderful with you
8lbs of Jade Cross last year...still enjoying plenty of them from the freezer!
Yay, that's brilliant, Sheila. Nothing better than your own abundance. 😀👍
Celery seem to take foever and always seem to look so weak
That is why I have to start mine so early, Mike. But the wee plants are troopers once outside. They always amaze me how they hang on through my tough spring!
Loverly chat video,,I’m so nosy 🫣I like to see what your growing. Bye for now 🌸x
Thanks Diana 🤗. I'm raring to get at it again.
Good on you! I think we're going to need it in Europe as well. Although I have a tiny space I just ordered artichoke seeds because they are our favourite vegetable. According to another gardener, artichokes can actually be grown in surprisingly small pots. It's worth a try anyway. Best of luck with the "resistance", and thank you!
Thanks so much, Anna. We love artichokes too. I can see them doing well in pots. Hope all is wonderful 🤗
The time spent here with you is really pleasant, I enjoyed this video until the end with pleasure! Kind regards from Italy and happy new week!
Hello to you in beautiful Italy. Thank you very much for your kind words. Hope all is wonderful 🤗
Thank you for sharing with us. I am from Ontario, Canada. We are going to up the amount we try to grow this year. We already purchased a second freezer to be able to freeze more as they come in. I also can and dehydrate. I think everyone needs to grow more.
Hello, and thank you so much. I have been thinking recently of purchasing an extra freezer. 🤔 I think it would be smart for me. Thanks for watching. Hope all is great!
We bought an extra freezer lol. Upped our growing and freezing, canning and dehydrating for a few years now. It really helps.
I'm a lifelong gardener, too, Greta. We already try to buy everything from local producers that we can't grow ourselves. Of course, we will stop purchasing some things, but we will be fine. From your west coast friend ❤🇨🇦 ~ Sandra
My father drilled into me since a wee child to always support Canadian and buy local, the 'little guy'. 😀 We definitely will be fine! Thank you, my friend 🧡
Thanks for sharing Greta 🙂
Thanks for visiting 🤗. Hope all is wonderful!
RUclips was a way to earn money for a while. Now, most people have other reasons for being youtube creators. No starting early for me this year. March has other plans.
Oh no, I hope all is well in March for you. Maybe a vacation?
Greta, can you winter sow any of those ?
Hi Stacey. I like to winter sow cabbage, broccoli, kale, cauliflower, and lettuce mostly as they grow quicker, germinate in cooler temps and transplant well as small seedlings. These veg I'm starting require much larger plants at transplant, for me to have success. Having said that, you have a bit longer growimg season so would likely do better, though celery would be tricky to germinate.
@gretasgarden thanks Gret! Stay strong. We are the resistance!
Hi Greta, I have just subscribed after seeing your lovely comment to Helen at Bristol Veggie Beds and got curious about how you grow in such specific circumstances. Looking through your windows it looks very cold out there🥶
Hello and thank you very much 🤗. It is a bit cold here for sure and a shorter season. I just have to be a bit more planful 😅. Have a great day.
Love the addition of lavender 😊
I find it a useful and inexpensive replacement for clean up jobs! 😀
What a great idea Greta 💜. Keep warm out there, Ali 🥶🥶🇨🇦
Thank you Ali. It's not too bad here weather wise but more snowbis on the way. Ti's the season 😅. Hope you are enjoying the weekend
Good video 🌷🌹
Thank you Caroline! 🤗
I also love the smell of lavender,,it’s so comforting 🤗 Stay warm 🌸xx
You're right Diana, it's a cozy comforting scent. Hope you're enjoying your weekend 😊
This is great as my wife loves the smell of lavender, I'll give it a go next year, and I should be able to use my own Apple Cider vinegar as well 🙂
Eco, safe and thrifty Mike. Yes, give it a go. Thank you
I love the smell of lavender, but Landon isn't a fan so I have to limit its use in the house. I have a lovely lavender infused water that I like to mist in the air when I have the house to myself for a while ❤️❤️ ~ Sandra
Yes, the fragrance is not for everyone, Sandra ( though I can't understand why 🤣) but I'm lucky they all like it here. Thank you. Have a lovely evening.
I made the mistake of using apple cider vinegar with lemon peels. The mother or scoby clogged up the tube and nozzle. Great tip Greta. Cheers from north of 7 and east of 11 Ontario.
Hello and thanks for visiting. 🤗 Oops, re the cider mother. I make loads of missteps! That's the fun in keeping on trying and learning. Have a great weekend
Aw thank you for sharing your peaceful moment, that was lovely ❤ and you just taught me what to do with Aloe! Double thank you!! Xx
Thank you, and thanks for stopping by 🤗. It's nice tonget carrots from the garage this time of year 😅
You always do so well with your carrots 🥕 😋 I thought well what’s Greta doing with that??? Face serum,,I didn’t guess that😇you are clever. Bye for now 🌸xx
Thanks Diana 🤗 😊. Last bucket of carrots due to my laziness. I will try to do more next year. Have a wonderful day
Love your new hair style 😇 Don’t those aloe grow like there is no tomorrow 🫣 they will take over the world 🌎😄 I wonder what colour your tulips will be??🤔 Bye for now 🌸xx
The tulips are supposed to be a light pink. Hopefully they work put. Thanks as always my friend 🧡
I have hide my tulips 🌷 under squirrel 🐿️ guard 🤞🤞 or this may be the last time I grow any. Stay warm out there ❤, Ali 🥶-5c 🇨🇦 Ps your hair looks really nice 😊
I dint have tonworry about squirrels inside 🤣. The fox now, has dug up my tulips outside a bit. Bit of snow down today. Take care Ali 🤗
Lovely reminder! I would gladly do this if tulips weren't poisonous to cats. It's so nice to watch your videos, partly because you don't use our time to try to make us buy this or that. By the way, your herb pot is beautiful 💐
Hi Anna, thank you. I hope the tulips work, and yes, I have no pets to worry for. Have a great day
Lovely share Greta.
Thank you, Terry. Hope I can get a pop of colour from the tulips 🌷. Take care!
Greta, my American friends needed an explanation when I kept referring to shopping at Canadian Tire. We take it for granted, but those outside of Canada don't understand 😉 ~ Sandra
Yes, we all have our own unique retailers in each country. Good ol CT😀
Beautiful video Gretta. Love your harvest!
Thank you very much! I should have done more buckets this year. 🙃 Take care
Wow the view is awesome. Good job my friend very nice sharing Majoy Kaloy's Isto2
Thank you very much, and thanks for stopping by!
What a view! 😍 The stone structure looks cool. Looking forward to more lovely videos
Thank you very much. My husband spent many a day on the stone walls. 😀 Thanks for watching! Take care
Trying to catch up on your videos. Quickly realized I miss our conversations so much. “ This is what madness looks like” classic 😂 I remember when you said you wish you had a greenhouse so you could grow tomatoes…wow. Awesome
Hey Patsy 😀. I did get a lot of tomatoes this year, luckily. I'm trying to get through them in the freezer. I miss ya bunches!! 🤗 Don't work too hard. We'll catch up one of these days
I swear your place gets more beautiful every time I see it.
Thanks so much Mike 🤗
Very nice video
Thanks so much Caroline 🤗
Lovely, relaxing video! 😊
Thank you 🤗
Healthy looking carrots, Greta. They are so sweet when harvested in the winter. ~ Sandra
No real frost for these carrots as they come into my garage at season end. They keep growing a bit, but it's always nice to get the extra. Have a beautiful day Sandra.
Thanks Greta. It is a beautiful day here on Canada's west coast. Our daffodils are almost ready to bloom! ~ Sandra
🥕🥕🥕🥕🥕🥕🥕🌱🌱🌱🌝👍
Nice to get some fresh carrots this time of year 😀
Fab harvest 🥕🥕, stay warm Greta, Ali 🌞🥶🥶🇨🇦
Thank you, Ali. 🤗 Hope all is great 👍
I hope my carrots are half as nice as yours! I was wondering what the aloe was for. I've heard that it is edible but I've always just kept it around for burns.
That was my last container of carrots. I'm going to have to do better next year. Take care, Jack!
Lovely carrots , mine always grow better in containers 😊
Thank you. I like that I can bring the containers in the garage at season end. Easy harvest without digging in snow 😅. Hope all is wonderful
Hi Greta. That is alot of beautiful carrots. Maybe I will buy a little greenhouse and pot them in there on my balcony what is your take on it😊
Hello Claire. I think they would do great on a balcony and easy too!
👍👍👍
Thanks Michael. Hope all is great 👍
I’m always pleased for you as everything you plant ,,,grows 😋Keep warm 🌸xx
That's because you're the sweetest person ever 💗
Fun times!
Keeps me happy during the winter! 🤗
