    That seems like a great campground! I do enjoy a nice private campground with a pool and other activities and this one seemed to have it all! You were brave with that carrot knife demonstration, and that balloon with everyone inside made me laugh.

    I enjoyed seeing the photos of how and hearing the history of the original setup of Granite City. Then comparing and seeing it to what it is now is pretty cool. Nice to hear what happened to mining after the gold rush was over as well.

    I like this story about the miners! Especially about the one who found money in the cabin instead of the gold in the river. Sad that the village is almost completely gone! The cemetery on the other hand looked still in good shape. Great video

    Thank you for this video. You have done a great job researching the town and its people. It is unfortunate that the Coomes Cabin has deteriorated so much. When our Granite Creek Preservation Society approached the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (the local government for this area) to receive permission to either rebuild or put in supports and a roof to protect it, we were denied. The government informed us that any structures must be left alone to "return to the earth". It is sad they don't share our passion for preserving the local history.

      Thank you so much for your comment. Your website was a huge source of information when researching for this video. Kudos to the Granite Creek Preservation Society and yourself for the collection of information , upkeep and maintenance of the townsite and graveyard. I am hoping to do a small video in the future about Frenchy as his story is fascinating. It is so sad that the cabin cannot be further preserved for future generations. It has deteriorated quite a lot (mainly the roof structure) over the past 10 years. It was interesting to compare my old photos of 2014 with our visit a couple of months ago.

    The photograph at 0:50 is of the Arthur Mailey XI, an unofficial Australian Team who toured Canada and the US in 1932. Their captain was Victor Richardson - his grandsons Ian and Greg Chappell later captained Australia with distinction. The star of the side was a young Donald Bradman, already well on his way to becoming the best batsman of all time. He was not yet Sir Donald Bradman.

    Thank you to the Granite Creek Preservation Society, it's membership and supporters for the work done in creating the walking tour and in upkeep of the cemetery. It must be noted that the society replaced the erroneous marble plaque on the cairn, with a faithful reproduction of the original which was stolen decades ago. Both are seen in parts of this video.

They could careless of all the animals they have killed, marshland they have flooded, ALR flooded,Peoples farmland that has been in the family for generations flooded, Flooding native land, Destroying eagles nests, and the list goes on. Engineers that allowed this Dam to be built on Shale & Silt should be behind bars. We seem to be hell bent to destroy living creatures and there homes, peoples land that they struggled all there life to care for, the beauty of nature, we're never happy with what earth has gifted us. We must "build concrete structures for the betterment of humanity" In reality, we have become masters of destruction for our materialistic lifestyle, which we think is our right to have. We scurry like rodents seeking ways to change everything to suit our needs, all along not noticing the trail of destruction we have cause not only this gifted planet but all that deserve the equal right to live here. And when our fellow humans get in our way, we wage war and kill each other like we have the right to. We have become a disgusting, vial "over privileged" evil master of the world that can't see what we've become. Oh, how we have changed this beautiful planet that was once full of life, not just of our own. Just maybe, this has become our hell........... Todd.

    Interesting museum. They have something similar in Orono Maine about logging and forest work in Maine. Its fascinating to think that one timeaone was a leader in Lumber in the US. It was very lucrative but also extremely destructive. There was even a time where the Maine Costaline in many places were basically sludge.

    What are we talking about here? Canada kills their own citizens today through the M.A.I.D program. No, you do not have tk be dying to kill yourself in Canada. The poor are doing it with Dr. approval. Abortion and gender reasignment (especially on minors) is no better. Canada is not inclusive nor tolerant.

    American terms? Bombs??? My family is from Burlington and I grew up back and forth across the border because my father was a metallurgical engineer. I now live in California and my sister is in the Muskokas. Your “bomb” comment is exactly why I have lost respect for Canada. I have never heard a slur from an American person in regard to Canada. Yet Canadians seem to still love to make rude comments about America. We are a much larger and more heavily populated country with 50 states and 50 different sets of state laws. Our place in the world brings us in a position to constantly be supporting other countries financially and with military aid. Canada tends to like to play the “Sweden” mentality and stay out of conflict while we fight for the people who are being devastated by communist rulers. If you think anyone of us wants to send our sons into battle or wants to see “bombs” exploding on this earth, maybe you need to stop judging and educate yourself. Shame on you. Americans are good people who are usually the first to show up. We are tired and sad and don’t want to be involved. However we also don’t want others to suffer at the hands of monsters. Canada is beautiful and I love it. I miss the easy lifestyle that we have lost from Overpopulation and political instability. However, if Canada were attacked tomorrow…. who do you think would show up to protect you first? Your knowledge of this country is very obvious and before you toss daggers, maybe you should learn more about the history of the US and compare numbers and issues that make it harder for a large and powerful nation to turn their backs to world instability. You are what I find shameful in Canadian people. I’m proud to have dual citizenship but I won’t tolerate either side making assumptions about the other. You owe Americans an apology.

    • @SaltyBeaverExplores
      @SaltyBeaverExplores 2 месяца назад

      Thanks for your comment and I apologize for offending you. I have many American friends and certainly have no ill feelings towards your country or its citizens. I actually had to go back to the video as I can’t see myself saying anything about bombs, or to be disparaging towards another country. As you will see in the video the bomb comment is not my words, rather it is part of the quote from Bon Appetite! A Celebration of Canadian Cookbooks.
