Ive spent all summer learning on an old Obrien Sensation with a 5.4m sail. Im got extremely lucky lately and found someone getting rid of a starboard go. Im super excited for all the new things i get to learn. I finally got land starts just yesterday. Cant wait to get planning

The required fin length is proportional to the with of the board at 30 cm from the tail. Sailing a wide tail board with a very short fin will not work great. you cn go +/- a few cm's but that's it. If you want a shorter fin (because of waterdepth or seeweed) get a delta fin. that could work. and than also masttrach forward a bit.

Your mast foot is full back, with an 8.5 sail. That seems counter intuitive. I have a similar board with a very long mast foot rail. I always struggle to find the right position for the mast foot on that board. Any tips on mast foot placement in that type of board?

Much better than 7th avenue. I'd be using it in 5 - 13kts so I probably need the longer nose of the Tabou for subplaning comfort.

If I could launch where you do I'd go for a sail. I can't get enthused about getting there from further down the beach. That F Race looks like a fun board. My Tabou Bullit 125ltres is 70 wide and a beginners board so it's very heavy and doesn't look like it gets going as well. What's it like in 30cm chop? Gybes are going well. I think you had more wind than we did at Budgy.

You seem to have a mast collar/pad on to protect the board. First time I’ve noticed one of those. Good idea. Commercially available or home made made jobbo. Love the sound of whistling over the chatter and then the hiss of a jibe.

I think anything that helps confidence, (especially powered up in chop ) is good.

i like the acceleration and getting clearance off the lip of a wave and floating as you pull and pump the sail for distance......

Great advice. Favourite board for Canadian lake is still the Mistral Equipe II. I share your dislike foe the winter but we have hockey. Love your channel.

I was lucky to have atleast 100 sessions a season, 150 last year with some travel. I think it was a decent rate of progression, although i know of others who learnt faster. I think the board was great to learn on and still fun to ride. I never really use the center board and always have the mast track all the way back.
