You Quit Your Bad Habits When You Quit Telling Yourself This...
what's the name of the model with 4 spheres? It sounds like you say "eky guy".
You sound really relative when you talk about my procastination.
Thank you, I see what you mean. Procrastination happens because we dive into something that doesn’t grab our attention. When you find the right thing, everything falls into place. I thought my discipline was broken, but it turns out I just wasn’t engaged with what I was doing.
This looks good... I'll watch it later 😂
I appreciate your videos very much
Loving your content! But have this idea that U won't be consistent in this RUclips thing since you are also an intp
hey im only half way through the vid, but i wanna say thanks for taking the time to create this video, ive had this book for almost a decade(8years ish) and never read it, but for some reason unexplained, your words, are resonating, brother, thanks again
Video quality kind crap huh
great actually
You guys are my fav type next to mine
Yes exactly. I need one of you pingpongers to be my sponsor for alanon or to be my therapist i have had the wrong ones all along. U just realized i need you guys to help me find my way.
thank you brother. if people only listen. I've pretty much given up on that department.
as INTP, how I overcome my procrastination is by analyzing all possibilities that can happen if I delay my task or job. I create at least 3 possible things that can happen, and I will figure out at least 3 ways for me to solve the issue that might arise later. My routine is procrastinate. But, no one say anything as i always being extra careful about my procrastination. I even came out with every possible statement or complaint from the higher ups and i came out with at least 3 ways to get out from the mess in my head. And trust me, I never failed. I analyze every possibilities, i analyze every procedures and I analyze everyone that will be dragged in my task. And I do all of this without even take any of my time as I enjoy doing this everyday. I admit I procrastinate a lot, but all the information already in my head. Whenever i need it, i can get it out asap. I even remember every personal details of the employee, their salary, increment, records of discipline, work performance and even their hometown name. I will keep even little and unimportant details. Thats one of the reason why my high ups did not even bother with me as they call me 'mr know it all'. With simple text, i can figure out what really happen thanks to my imaginative abilities. I can connect the dots like im standing in that people shoe and so far, i never missed. It was enjoyable to live as INTP, but worse i part is if you meet close minded ppl or stick to traditional way kind of ppl. It can turn you off and makes you question the meaning of your life. 2nd, INTP need continuous challenge, mentally. Once they sorted out one problem, they need new problem. if you cannot provided them w new issue, u need to provide them with new things to learn about. To maintain INTP excitement is hard. INTP can work but only with the compatible personality type. This is true. My reporting manager is ENTJ and tge reason why im still working with him is bcoz we are compatible. Its like we are completing each other lacking areas. So, find the compatible personality and u will enjoy working anywhere.
Great video, thanks, Franco! Would love to hear you talk about the other five habits.
let’s just stop sugarcoating and dancing around the issue and just admit that being an introvert is being a straight up l0ser. A terrible maladaptive behavior, a mental diseas3 If you don’t enjoy being around others, or can’t focus on the positive aspects of relationships to others, you are on a road towards f@iling as a human being
I do agree with the "people give you the self image of you so you tend to act according to that image" idea. Sometimes people at college just give me that wierd look like im an alien or sum as i finally decide to summon enough courage to speak up some of my opinion after a while. That totally demotivates me and really takes a huge toll on me deciding whether to speak up again in the future. The cycle just lasts forever. People just keep on yapping louder and i gradually, eventually get shut out. I tried to fixed this habit but things just kept turning for the worse.
Mostly agree with you. First just let me get this out of the way: too much romanitizing about what extroverts do. We don't know their battles, and they have their own weaknesses to overcome. One thing that "motivates" extroverts more is because their bad habits like excessive partying is those damages are far more obvious and easier to control. In Dopamine Nation, Dr. Anna Lembke wrote that having the physical separation and even geographical distance between the addiction and behavior is a way to stop bad habits. For many extroverts, their triggers are outside, usually at specific places (bars, stadiums, friend's place, etc). So it's easier for they to stop doing that. But for introverts, the bad habits are often in their resting place, specifically made to be easily accessible. Like going from the work room after the wfh session to the living room for a gaming session is so seemless it might as well be no difference. Other than that, do agree on taking the initiative and owning the responsibilities. And having just the future expectation might not be enough for everyone... Maybe something like push and pull, so fear and hope. In this case the fear of failing or not changing. Many of us got too comfortable for.our oen good.
Im a retard and really struggle with taking people seriously when they base their personality on a test that has no scientific evidence. Can you help me out please
As an INTP, I spend all my time thinking and very little time producing content. It feels like a fundamental tradeoff, because being productive lowers my mental plasticity and clarity. I suppose eventually one has to switch over. The INTP niche in the division of labor is for basic research, radical discoveries, truly inspired deep insights rather than being implementation focused, but of course some implementation is necessary because otherwise no one else in the societal division of labor can understand them.
Implementation is not difficult for an INTP when working alone as a freelancer. You choose where to go. Deep insights are just a flake of Ne, but Ti is more hands-on than you think. When we perform detailed analysis on features, we gain a deep understanding of causality and the interconnected relationships between variables. We notice patterns that help us build the best machine learning models. AI models also learn by adjusting their weights and biases until they find patterns to identify specific things with minimal error. So, When we build model that mimic our internal framework on a larger scale with better precision with real data, it means we’ve translated our thoughts into actionable models. These models can then be implemented in web or mobile apps as features, helping to solve real-world problems and minimizing human effort. This is why Kaggle competitions often offer prizes ranging from $50k to $2M for winners who create the best models to solve practical challenges. Implementation always involves Te ("what should work for everyone") or Fe ("what everyone loves") because it should serve the tribe. Only then can we truly call it implementation, right? Te and Fe are more tribe-focused, which is why they are often able to implement things faster. When implementing solutions Te focuses on creating systems that work for everyone, such as schools. But do schools and their systems truly work for everyone? The answer is often "no," and Fe focuses on creating communities and communism do they work for everyone? The answer is "no". that’s why these systems frequently fail to address problems comprehensively. they might sweep flaws under the rug, we uncover the rug and fix the root cause. it is impractical from their prespetive because it did't work for them with their traditional methods assuming if they can't fix it means no one can On the other hand, Ti looks for "what works for them." Since we mostly work with things or problems, the solutions we design inherently work for everyone cuz, things are constant. Others can use tools or models created from our thoughts without needing to understand the complexity behind the internal systems. For example, computers, mobile devices, and most of the technical advancements we see in day-to-day life were likely designed by INTPs or ISTPs with their dominant Ti. Ti always works practically with things-this is the practicality I know. But in the real world, practicality means whether it works for the tribe. This is why ISTPs are naturally good with things like crafting, cooking, or working out in the gym or Precisely creating a dite plan, while INTPs good in areas like computer programming and other things. ISTPs follow physics with Se (extroverted sensing), while INTPs follow metaphysics with Ne (extroverted intuition). For example, if Te creates systems like traditional schools, an INTP would likely design a kindergarten-style school or something resembling a library (flexible yet structured) or separate systems tailored to different learning types. While these ideas may initially seem impractical, they could become feasible if everyone believed in them. However, we often lack influence over the tribe because we’ve abandoned it to focus on solving one core problem. Meanwhile, everyone else adjusts and moves on, content with the existing system. on another example istp could create a better nutrition dite plan tailored to specific individuals by considring their medical conditions and their ditery needs precisely. where Te use simple BMI index and thinks it should work for everyone and just implement it. In this case, ISTPs can implement more effective solutions than Te. Ti approach to implementation involves Fe (extroverted feeling). We aim to create things that resonate with people by considering what they love and how it actually works for them instead of forcing rigid methods like Te does. While Ti implemention is slower than Te, it directly addresses the underlying issues and builds multiple internal systems individually for everyone, rather than one external system with flaws. Ti is precise and time-consuming, but when it is successfully implemented, it results in innovation.
@@chaitanya7964 I think I see something now. I need to take the system that worked for me, that I built in my mind, and teach it to others.
8:33 - This is true for me. Maybe it's because Ne wants to try new things, while forcing Si to stick to a task is one thing. But what if we use "reverse brainstorming" with Ne, It means deliberately doing our task in a completely messy way-exactly how it shouldn't be. Then, we take a 5-minute break with coffee or tea, and when we return to our work, we see a lot of problems and errors. That’s when Ti comes into play; it won’t rest until it fixes everything, turning all the errors into solutions. It’s like making a crappy website and then spending the whole day fixing it.
I set a goal to publish a Kaggle notebook every 3 days, analyzing datasets and sharing insights. However, I ran into issues with perfectionism, making assumptions, and overcomplicating things. I initially misunderstood the dataset, thinking a particular nutrition intake caused diseases, when it was actually about diet plans suggested for specific diseases. I also spent too much time perfecting small details like colors and lines in the graphs, and overthinking the insights. making assumptions is caused by Ne where i did't take input Si seriously at first. perfectionism is caused by Si where I struck in Ti-Si loop. (were I try to find logical consistancy in every details) overcomplicating (perfecting small details) is caused by Ti on other hand, making assumptions helped me to find good insights and Ti helped me to evalvate those assumptions and Si helped me to stick with the main problem and keep tracking of it, ensuring I stayed on the right path. To improve, I’ve learned the importance of balancing Ne and Si: + Start with Si to fully understand the main problem and input details correctly. + Use Ti to dismantle and analyze the problem logically. + Use Ne to explore creative relationships, try combinations, and generate insights. + Return to Si for verification and alignment with the main goal. + finally looking at the big picture from Si to Ne, seeing the "root to tree" and cutting unnecessary branches (by using Ne responsibly without overflowing), in favor of sticking to the main problem. Ne’s flexibility and Si’s groundedness. Where ISTJ Si-dominant types struggle to use Ne (new possibilities) and stick to traditional methods, and entp, enfp Ne-dominant types struggle to stick to one core problem or idea. In the Sherlock Holmes TV series, where ISTJ officers struggle to solve a new case, this is when Sherlock, the INTP, comes and solves it better than anyone else. This is a Ne-Si balance. It is a gift for INTPs, where other types struggle to have balance and either stick to one side or another. ENTPs and INFJs have balance with Ti-Fe (self-tribe), which is a gift for them, while INTPs have balance with Ne-Si (flexibility-groundedness). We just need to use it responsibly. If an INTP doubts their ability to solve a problem, it often means no one else can solve it. I did complete the notebook in 4 days, rewriting it 20 times, but it's worth it. I also got comments saying it's flawless and good insights on the dataset.
As an INTJ, it's funny to observe we and you INTP guys tend to end up in the same circles (of deep thinking, science, philosophy, sometimes art as a way to explore the world), and can run into similar problems of being misunderstood and not seeing ourselves and our priorities much in others, while we have no function in common and think very differently! I get so puzzled when an INTP explains how they approach things (systems? That Ti-Si confuses me to no end), but once pushed and refined our reasonings tend to end up towards the same conclusions, because we're observing the same world, ultimately? And I find it super interesting
Different angle, same thing.
Could you please explain to me how INTJ and INTP approach things differently
The 3 biggest problems are greed, post purchase rationalisation and tribalism. Sorry bud but you can't fix those with intellect. You can't control other people's choices.
a) "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has." - Margaret Mead b) Like you said in your other comment, it's likely that multiple societies implode before 2100, and guess what, some will weep, while others will work on rebuilding things. I'd say INTPs are great for that (less concerned with external world, return to principle-based decisions, imaginative problem-solving, rationality). c) I will positively influence the world or die trying.
@FrancoDavis To be fair sometimes the biggest catalysts of change are individuals. But there can be no movement towards improvement when the progress offered by great minds can be hijacked by the malevolent and nefarious. Tesla barely escaped plunging the world into tyranny by sharing his inventions out amongst different tribal factions. If he was a wiser man he would have kept a lid on his work or only shared it with the deserving. Working with JP Morgan was a big mistake. The same goes for all intellectual effort today. If you can't wrest control of the world's capital from it's current, most undeserving owners you would be better finding a way of withholding your path to progress or at the very least use misdirection to accelerate the destruction of our current power structures.
@@FrancoDavis Well said! Go get 'em >:)
@@FrancoDavis Tesla narrowly averted plunging the world into tyranny by sharing his inventions before the state could swipe them all. If you're smart, be wise and make sure the unworthy don't get hold of your "progress" to abuse it.
@@FrancoDavis Don't let your "progress" get taken by the unworthy to be abused.
What makes you think that the people who own the world deserve the benefits of our work? Honestly I think a big chunk of the narcissistic and selfish world needs to experience the full consequences of their decisions.
Who said someone else should benefit? It's never been easier to make money independently and to then move to a log cabin...
@@FrancoDavis lolll ur good with helping intps break their thinking loops
You care about humanity, a lot. You were angry when you wrote this or, I think, frustrated anyhow. I’ve felt that way, so forgive me if I think I am empathizing but only projecting. I do the work that I do because it is in my Nature to do it, to explore, study, understand, distill, reconcile, systematize and then teach. Is it vexing to you that people choose to suffer what they need not endure merely because they refuse to “think slow?”

Firstly thanks the algorithm for letting me see this, and thanks to myself for not denying this video thinking I wouldn't acquire anything useful from it. This is a very good summary of some stuff that's in my mind that I haven't found the language to phrase yet. My experience as an intp: growing up was hard as my mindset is really different from the majority and I was seen as strange, weirdo, intimidating, outcast. I slowly figured out how to act in front of the external world through tryouts, analyzing human psychology, summarizing patterns. That took a lot of work, I'm glad to say I am at a decent enough spot now, and I feel confident just being myself sometimes just like now. There is definitely still communication and persuading skills to work on however that is not one of my top priorities at the moment and I am quite fine with how I am like right now to get through the current situation. As for the Sisyphus metaphor you used, I totally relate. As I got into my teens, I happen to be able to get pretty good grades and got an offer from an prestigious uni, but after trying that (working hard for prestigious uni) out I find a lack of meaning and motivation to repeat what I did again to conceal the offer, so eventually I missed the offer. I am a person that needs constant new experiences as data to help me mature and understand the world, and that thirst balances out with the unproductive side. Despite the prospecting nature of me, I still manage to do stuff for the sole purpose of doing things. I keep busy to stop the depressing state I go into when I am nihilistic, I keep busy to keep moving externally and not stay in the same place stuck internally. A summary of the video with some personal organization and understanding: • Nature: We are introverted, intuitive, rational, prospecting (flexible and opportunistic). We spend a lot of time inside of our own heads, thinking, explaining, analyzing, connecting the dots, summarizing the patterns, trying to make things into systems, trying to find the deepest truth we can, trying to figure out the universal theories and principles that we can apply in a certain situation, trying to understand to the absolute fundamental essence of things. • Critical: We consistently criticize. think outside of the box and are not afraid to break habits instead of truth when it doesn't make sense. We are not scared to pursue what is really the way we should do things. The world is full of problems, and we have the solutions, in our mind. We have principle-based decision making. People don't always want what they need people just want what they want. And we have solutions and teaching to give to the world. • Emotions: We honor emotions and feelings, but it doesn't get in the way of our thinking. • Downsides: We have strengths and downsides. Such as being bad with people, being easily distracted, being unproductive, being strange and isolated by the world, being a perfectionistic procrastinator, being hyper analytical. We don’t share our ideas persuasively because we lack people energy, and we might nit share our ideas at all because we are outcasts. • Passion: When we are given a task that doesn't make sense or is not what we love, we become like Sisyphus, accepting the rock but deny the mountain we need to walk to get there and eventually failing the task. • Unleash potential: We more than anyone else in the world can solve the problems. We have the the intellect. It's just about working on the things that keeps the intellect from flourishing. Realizing that all the things we think about is actually doable. Realizing to achieve all those things, all we need to do is work on our weaknesses, and get to work. We can fix our bad habits by doing it same way we research and learn other things: learn the reason, the pattern, learn what to do. • Power and responsibility: We have great strengths and if we work out how to unleash our potential, we are powerful. With great power comes great responsibility. "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." Edmund Burke. Don’t just sit there and wait for what is gonna happen happen, be proactive and do something. Hope this helps or inspires.
Your story definitely inspires and I hope your summary will help people as well, thank you for this comment.
