Come on my dude your setting up to fail. First of all your chain is rigged wrong that hole on the ass end is where your chain is supposed to be connected too, the hole on the shaft is where you use a "breakaway" link some folks use 100lb mono fishing line I just use a couple of cable ties so when you get stuck the chain breaks away and you recover the anchor ass end first. Bruce anchors need I think it's a minimum of 10ft water so they right themselves so when they hit the bottom they dig in.

My Rocna 10 digs down very hard every time within half a metre, and it stays there - every time, even in harsh conditions on a 5 tonnes boat. How you manage not to make all these well known anchors set is quite magic...

This is one of the dumbest videos I've ever seen. You pulled the anchor at an angle that won't allow it to set. The Danforth has a shank that has a range of motion to help it set. If you pull the chain exactly at zero angle from the seabed how do you think it's going to set? I demand 38 secs of my life back.

You need to put the like higher, like the angle a boat would be pulling it, or else the crown cannot push the flukes downward to catch into the ground.

Never had an issue with my Bruce of that size, more chain needed for a true test. My boat held in shallow water of 0.75m as a huge swell from a passenger fast cat funnelled into the bay pitching the bow up at least 1.5 m, anchor held fast as boat whipped and rolled in and out on the surf for several minutes. Totally awesome anchors for small craft my 7m boat 1.5 tonne approx.

So, don’t try and anchor on sand above the high water mark. Back in the real world, how about on liquified sand under water? I have one of these and my experience is that it is very good. I’m sure there are better but mine has always set and re-set when the tide turns.

What a completely silly test. Clearly the person doing it has no understanding of scope and the angle of pull that the chain should pull. Why would they go to the trouble of this so called test rather than doing a simple google search on how anchors work and how they should be set. The letter would have saved time, effort and hopefully embarrassment.

The test is clearly flawed as all you true boaters are aware, unless you’re somehow anchoring in six inches of water with so short a scope of rode there’s no catenary effect. The anchors used in the test aren’t even of a similar weight. I will say that the last anchor being so much smaller and yet performing better under similar conditions is intriguing though.

your chain needs to be attached at the front and tied to the back for break away. The anchor type has a tendency to self right when rigged correctly.

This is not a test.1st no scope 2. Never in grass. 3 not the same weight anchors. This is misleading and dangerous. I do not use any of these anchor soI have no dog in the fight.

You don't have nearly enough scope out. The chain should be pulling the anchor downward which would cause the spade to dig in, hence why you need 5:1 to 7:1 scope to begin with.
