Jeep Willys Rebuild - Part 8 - New Steering Parts and Shocks
This time while working on my 1948 Willys CJ2A Jeep, I go through the steering linkage, as well as add new shock absorbers. As I dug into the steering, I found that some parts were rather worse for wear.

When EAA's 1929 Ford Tri Motor Came to the visit Bolingbrook's Clow International Airport, I was able to get a ride in the Co-pilots Seat. We couldn't have asked for a better day to fly!

While visiting EAA Airventure 2024 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, I decided to purchase an aerobatic ride on CAF Airbase Georgia's AT-6D. We flew out of the nearby Fon Du Lac Airport (FLD). Needless to say, they gave me my moneys worth!

Now that I have gotten the engine to run. Its time to get the rest of the Jeep ready for operation. I decided to stick my Gopro to the belly of my Hobbyzone Carbon Cub S2 1.3 to get some shots over my farm. It definitely changes the flight characters of the plane, but was more than manageable, and proved to be well worth it.

Took my 4 year old daughter up in the one that was or still is at the Kalamazo cat museum about 30 years ago. My how time flies….. that plane is LOUD!
Very loud indeed! I saw the one you’re referring to in Kalamazoo last summer. I believe it is now on permanent display and no longer flies
I remember when Clow was a little place out in the middle of nowhere! There were 2 private strips close by!
It was my first time there. Illinois Valley Regional is my home airport and it is starting to get that way compared to when I was a kid.

what is that godawful box on hood?ruins the jeep
Pretty much busted when that brake drum came off. God that was great to watch.
Sorry man but that hood thing is super ugly , but I guess there’s no alternative maybe repurposing an old ammo box ?
It’s on my list of stuff to fix for sure. The new carburetor I installed sits below the stock hood line, so i should be able to make up some sort of low profile air box to connect to the carb, and make the hood flat again.

It’s amazing at how easy the jeep rolls through mud and over trees etc. You expect it to get stuck instantly with the skinny tires.
Thanks for watching! The Jeep doesn’t weight very much, so the skinny tires help to dig deep and find solid ground to get traction. It’s pretty impressive for a 75 year old vehicle!

Hey. I watched all four Jeep episodes. I enjoyed your progress. Paint was a great match. I had a 51 M38 that looked about the same. The red primer lightens with age and won’t show at all.
