@@jamiefrost2091 exactly that Jamie, thanks for watching hope you’re well 😊
Kind of new to this, why are some sites selling rounds at basically the same price or even more expensive than some nicer coins. Aren’t rounds meant to be cheaper?
Rounds tend to be cheaper like buffalo rounds. Britannias maples and eagles tend to be around 30 mark. Things from other mints like Scottsdale, pamp can be more expensive if they have limited mintages or something else which marks the price up. That’s a very basic overview but to answer your questions generally rounds tend to be the cheaper alternative
That's a cool piece
Definately

Buying silver is a great idea because all fiat currencies have an 💯 percent failure rate, meaning the U.S Dollar 💵 will crash one day, and on that day, you better have silver or gold or copper bullion... I'm from America 🇺🇸 🙂
Ive been looking at these and not sure to get one, I'm glad you've done a video cuz now I can make up my mind, the detail is awesome, I'm really like these coins with lots of detail as I've been collecting a few and this will be my next, cool review mate 🫡👌
Pleased it was helpful mate, it’s a lovely piece to own
@Macdonaldbullion a very pricey one too 🙄 it is a good looking piece tho
@@Averagestakka82 yes mate I think converted it’s £210
@Macdonaldbullion yh that's what I got it at, I do find myself being a collector rather than a stacker now days
@@Averagestakka82 from my experience I think we all start with the intention to stack but as we buy we see what else is out there, I’m the same as you mate
I stack silver as a savings account and its nice to look at . Also got a small amount gold
That’s great to hear, nice to own some precious metals and the variety can be great for collectors
I believe in Silver, and I have 1,885 ozs. to prove it (I also have A LOT of Gold). I have 1/2 of my assets in Gold & Silver, and the other 1/2 in several 4 week T Bills and a cash stash.
Very nice stack there mate
T bills?
Great video, my first silver bullion was a James Bond 1 ounce silver bar🎉, nice piece 🙆♂️.
@@jamiefrost2091 fine choice Jamie, hope you’re well mate
Yip I luv em , I like visiting the Perth Mint to , there is so much to see there
I hope to visit one day
Condition rarity comes into play as well , not all coin shops are good people . If a coin is rare and worth a lot of money most serious collectors want it graded by PCGS or NGC so there is no question of grade . Good video lots of good information 👍
Cool
Stacking some silvers is always a good idea, it become better when stacking gold too! LOL 😂✌🏻
@@send2georgie_S2G definitely, I’d love the funds for gold🤣
This design is a modern icon. Britannia's flowing dress mimicking the outline of the island of Great Britain... Classy stuff. Im buying loads of them. They're going to the moon.
£20 for a Brit coin?! 😅 You’d be lucky to get a tenner from these shops!!! 😩🥹😅😂
Collecting heavy antique sterling silver flatware items (.925) with British hallmarks can be purchased at auctions close to spot price even after auction fees (the 20% VAT for new items such as bullion Britannia coins is not a factor). As Silver prices rise due to ongoing high inflation, the value of your investment is protected. e.g. Silver price has risen in the past year by over 14%. You won't get that return in a savings account in the bank. Finally, the industrial demand for Silver in all electronics, solar (PV), water purification, medical devices (microbial properties), EV etc. is increasing significantly year on year whilst the mined supply of Silver is falling due to lower Silver 'ore' grades and old mines are being exhausted of Silver reserves and very few new mines are in the pipeline to commence production. (Demand > Supply = Higher Prices)
In answer to your question. NO, buying silver is a gamble and I have loss'd hundreds of pounds, because it is only a speculative material used mostly in industry therefore it goes down more than up, when it does go up it only lasts a short time then falls back again as in my case. Gold however is a true measure of value over the long term and always increases as the currency devalues. Currencies always go to zero, some quickly other like the dollar slowly, until all at once!!
How many people have silver certificates for ounces of silver that don't actually exist at their banking institution? That's just one way the price of silver has been artificially manipulated. When the banks fail and those certificates become worthless, the physical silver price will increase dramatically.
It looks nice if nothing else.
Should mention if you buy UK legal tender about the Capital Gains Tax exemption, super important with the moves Labour may be about to do, i have around 100 oz that are UK CGT exempt, if i had known earlier I would have ensure most of my stack is such.
Can you explain this as I pay over £30 A coin now with the vat
Yes, but not sure which bit to explain, under the secondhand margin scheme when you buy pre-owned coins the retailer only has to charge VAT on the margin they make from buying it to selling it. So that means a lot less VAT and hence a cheaper price. But you need to find a dealer that does this. UK legal tender coins (ie they have a value £2, £10) these are exempt from capital gains tax so if your a higher rate tax payer they are even more attractive.
@@sacks7544 very interesting thanks I had no idea this was a thing
@@sacks7544 www.chards.co.uk/category/buy-coins/a/silver/special
@@raybans8712 www.chards.co.uk/category/buy-coins/a/silver/special
In the UK NO. Not only is your purchase subject to VAT at 20% but it gets worse as any profit you make is subject to Capital Gains Tax.
Silver Britannia's are cgt exempt as they're legal tender
@@aduck205 OK I'll buy yours from you at face value.
If it is BARS and other, not British coins from the Mint, legal tender and currently Exempt, watch this space, that might change if Stalin has his way? Hope I am wrong.
Not a good idea for UK residents, the 20% vat means you will be waiting a long time just to break even.
Not strictly true, some bigger dealers offer pre owned and that is mainly exempt from VAT as only the difference from buy to sell is subject tax, so if there margin is low the vat is almost nothing, my advice for UK resident is buy lots in one go and buy preowned UK legal tender to avoid all CGT aswell
Absolutely correct, been saying that here now for some time but get stupid push back, the VAT kills it dead. The spread here also is wicked wide on silver, always is? No brain'r BUY GOLD ONLY...period...
I use mine as a savings account..pure and simple
Just bought our family's first ever piece of bullion. A single 2024 1oz Silver Britannia, for my sons 8th birthday. The first of many more coins. Buy and hold!! I'm going to stack as an inheritance for my son. I'll never sell. That's the plan. Went to Atkinsons. They seem brilliant.
@@saelaird I’m pleased to hear that. Atkinsons are reliable and a great company to get bullion from
@Macdonaldbullion Thanks! I'll see how it goes. We'll have gold coming at Christmas, that's for sure. Everyone's getting a piece! I'm down the rabbit hole and loving it.
Excellent ideas here! 👍🏻 🇺🇸🤝🇬🇧
Great collection. I am looking at long term. With silver I am leaning towards just pre 2023 Britannia's at the moment as there is talk of CGT being reduced at the upcoming budget on October 30th so more enthusiastic about gold sovereigns and silver Britannia's...be great to hear anyone's thoughts? ps be even better if it was VAT free too!
@@ColinMackenzie-lc4ec I really wouldn’t be surprised if they reduce it again, legal tender is the safer option to reduce risk of that dreaded CGT
chards got a good deal on the 1kg 2024 brit at the mo says about 1048 but when click it its about 930, and they were hard to get for that when the spot was 17.50oz
Chards offer decent deals, can’t go wrong with them
I don’t agree that Silver is a good idea as a savings account, I think it’s a fantastic idea.
well said, I agree with you.
What sort of premiums are you paying? If a bank took a tenth or more of each deposit I made I'd be none too happy.
Marvelous video. You have a very nice stack there. Well done and thank you for the good information. Stay safe!
@@THECRANKYONE thank you cranky, hope you’re well and congrats on 1k subs
❤ silver. ❤❤❤. I stack some perth kooks and dragons.
Oddly enough , I like the square protectors. I also buy silver and some gold for savings and crisis sutuations. I buy online and also different local coin shops (LCS). I find it very nice to borrow money against my silver rather than selling it, when i need some extra cash. After I pay the loan back, I get the pm back 😊. Its a nice option if one has a good relationship with their LCS. Kentucky, USA
@@patriotares I never thought I’d like the square capsules but I’m pleased I got them, storage is so much easier
It's not a good idea. Given the circumstances in the world, buying Silver and Gold is absolutely imperative.
ONLY GOLD
@@aidenfreedom The focus should be utility, and Gold doesn't always have utility. Sometimes, you're going to want and need Silver in the short to medium-term. Gold is your long-term savings, and it's highest utility will be found in its fractional 22k form.
Exactly that, a good way to save. You have a collection of very nice bars 👍
@@NCstacker thank you NC
If your a collector then individual capsules for each coin are fine, for bullion stacking purposes its a waste of money. Personally i would avoid fractional silver as a stacker and maybe the larger bars if you want to move it on easily.
Apologies in advance to you for my desire to occupy the contrarian perspective. Make a list of everything you’ve spent money on over the last ten days and I’ll wager that you can point to three or more items on that list that were a “waste of money.” Was every purchase you made essential to life? Likely not. Air-Tites (or plastic capsules), whether for coins or bars, allow the stacker to handle the silver without worry about fingerprints or scratches. Capsules also deter you mentally from selling your stack because the coins and bars are “enshrined” like a museum piece that you never want to part with. Finally, if you are ever in a position where you need to sell your silver-as I have been from time to time-the LCS may (may!) offer you a little more when they see that you’re using capsules to keep your stack tidy. I intentionally keep my silver in their capsules as a psychological tactic when I walk into the LCS to sell to give the impression that what I’m selling is still new. (But be sure to get your capsule back! 😂)
@@theenglishprofessor8411 all good points. I would not take coins out of capsules if i had acquired them thus enclosed. Have some silver in tubes so for me it’s not cost effective to remove 25 maples or brits from a tube and enclose them individually in capsules. If i were to sell them it would probably be as a full tube. Have a selection of odds and ends which are at best bullion. I quite fancy getting a small chest (and i do mean a VERY small chest) and putting the silver inside like pirate treasure. Get myself a cutlass and a parrot and will be well away. 😄
There's nothing wrong with a bit of fractional, although I wouldn't buy anything below 90% purity for the right price. That means no post-1919 UK pre-decimal unfortunately...
@@vikinginsane6770 Love my American 90%, especially Mercury Dimes and Franklin half dollars. 🪁 Canadian 80% has handsome designs-worth picking up a few when the premium is low. 🍁
Gold Just Terrifies me it makes me get into a Mental illness whenever I can’t get gold and gold just makes me a failure in life honestly and my father is in the hospital due to a stroke and gold seriously is a threat to my mental health.
