    The return of the clog. Someone pointed out to me that it's a sewing community specific trend and now I can't unsee it 😅 very nice pattern, I am sure it will to do very well. The top looks like a good basic to have in several colors and textures.

    I love this set, HOWEVER, on the biggest size, the lining is too small, and keeps flipping out, so, adjstments are needed.

    I just got this pattern in the mail. I was going to make a waist coat/vest, but I thought this jacket might be a little more friendly as a first garment for me to try. It's all rather unnerving, but I've now watched your videos and feel I can probably do this - even with a lining! What weight of fabric have you seen used for the jacket? I have some waxed cotton as well as some light-weight denim, two fabrics that handle rather differently, I know. (Maybe I'll need to make two jackets!) :-)

    • @FridayPatternCompany
      @FridayPatternCompany Месяц назад

      Yay! I'm happy to hear you're attempting a jacket :) for this version I used a mid weight corduroy. Waxed cotton and light weight denim are both fabrics that would work great for the ilford!

    What if you did the liner and the placket on the sleeve together before attaching the sleeve to the body of the jacket? This might help the liner stay in place more instead of being entirely free floating inside the jacket

    I am planning to make my first Ilford jacket from a navy blue quilted fabric, similar to your black fabric. Any tips for collar and front facings with already quilted fabric would be welcome 😀 Beyond that, I am thinking about some basics - long sleeve tshirt style sweaters. After sewing four Heather blazers this past spring, I haven’t sewn much over the summer, just StyleArc Bob pants, because of house projects - I am tired… I love the green fabric you bought - beautiful shade. It will look wonderful whatever you decide to make. 👍🏻

    A Daughter Judy Thompson Coat in the "gumby green" wool would be very bold, fun, chic, and mod, especially with colorful statement buttons. 😊 I'm going to make that coat in a lime green corduroy - excited about it!

    love those plans. I too am also starting in on my fall sewing beginning with a long simple wrap skirt in a light weight corduroy. The color is very similar to your pair of red fabrics and screams autumn. One thing I am compelled to share with you is in regard to the pronunciation of saguaro, the protected gorgeous tree type cactus that we have in the dry southwest of the US. The “g” is pronounced as a “w”. Obviously you are not the only seamstress mispronouncing it but if you could pronounce it correctly I know that your followers will also pronounce it correctly. I probably come off as being knit-picky but it is such a venerated (and protected) unique cactus that it deserves to be pronounced correctly. I am enjoying your videos and wish to thank you for taking the time to share them here. ❤

      I live in the dry southwestern US, too, for 30 years now.... So, I can't put the "g" and "w" sounds together? 😅 It's Suh-wahr-oh, instead of Suh-gwahr-oh?? 😅 I feel like I've heard it before as you described, but it quickly fades upon seeing the spelling. Being a native speaker of English, I think it's all good since 90% of us will say it wrong anyway - hold the stones! 😂

    • @farmwife7944
      @farmwife7944 Месяц назад

      @@des_des_00 ask google how to pronounce it, I do that whenever I encounter a word that is new to me. In my opinion word pronunciation can be very tricky, case in point are many names of Scottish folks including my little grandson whose name in Eoin, pronounced Owen. , but this is a handy service google offers.
