Mosaic Crochet Color Change for Birches
This video was created to help anyone working on my Birches pattern (link below) who would like to fill in the tree which will require carrying yarn within the same row.
I also show how I anchor my double crochet stitches and use that technique to prevent exposed yarns across the back of the work as you carry it through.

Overlay Mosaic Crochet - No Ends (sort of!)
Просмотров 9 тыс.Год назад
I am working on a scarf/wrap (thicker than a scarf, thinner than a wrap). I decided to work it with no ends on either side so I could add a pretty edging later on. I thought I would take the opportunity to show how I (and others, I'm sure!) work (usually) smaller projects without leaving any ends/tails to deal with. Special stitch the Carrot diagonal stitch
Просмотров 578Год назад
This stitch in my patterns appears as the carrot symbol from the keyboard tray. It looks like a small triangle and faces either left or right depending on which way the diagonal should go. The stitch as written and as it is in the chart will be up in the upper left hand corner of the video so that you can associate it with the pattern. This stitch is seen frequently in the Hello Little Adventur...

Special Stitches \\/ ?? \\x/ ?? What do these mean?
Просмотров 373Год назад
When working my patterns (US terms), you will see some interesting stitches in both the written and the chart patterns. Here I try to help show you a couple of them, and help you through working any of the rest. When reading the stitches, they are written in the order they are to be worked together. (Working the stitches together means you don't complete the stitch until you have worked the las...

Anchoring Double Crochet Stitches for Overlay Mosaic Crochet
Просмотров 10 тыс.2 года назад
www.mosaichooker.com IG @mosaichooker When working in overlay mosaic crochet, there are times when you may have a long row of double crochet stitches. If you work these without anchoring them, you will end up with what is sometimes referred to as "fins" on the back of your project. In order to avoid these, and in order to add some extra stability to your project, you can anchor your stitches! I...

Hello. Just saying thank you. I think this method also helps me see the next stitch for my dc better

I go through both loops of the stitch I’m anchoring. What is the difference of going through three loops first, then two, vs. two loops then three?

I think it's just more anchored on the back of your work. I've never done this but will definitely give it a try, as those stitches don't have as much structure on the back but definitely not necessary. If you are crocheting a large project this will take longer but just a matter of preference.

Nice short video. By the way, I invented the Anchored double crochet (Adc) many years ago. I'm glad to see that you enjoy using it!

Hello! I have since watched your video and our techniques are not the same. I am in many mosaic groups and have seen many videos and conversations regarding anchoring (I had not seen your name used there, apologies) but liked the way I landed on the best. I have also now seen other anchoring videos on youtube however, I note no comments like this are not on those? Best!

Doesn't this extra threading at the back (the carried yarn on the back) make the knitting too thick/fat/heavy?

    • @mosaichooker
      @mosaichooker Год назад

It definitely could. This was just going to be a scarf so extra thickness is welcome in New England winters. I wouldn't recommend this for thicker yarns or very large projects (unless it seemed appropriate). I have seen other videos of people doing "endless mosaic crochet" so you can check those out too to see what those techniques look like too!
