    The fact that I watched this series soon after recovering from a time of intense imposter syndrome and self sabotage and perfectionism, just because a friend had put it on (to rewatch himself) when he came to visit, proves that the universe works in mysterious ways. I related to SO many characters in this show and probably cried more throughout than I ever had in my own personal life. It was so cathartic to have a safe outlet to experience and explore emotions I don't feel comfortable feeling in my day to day life.

    I think we should have an anime where we abolish slavery. I know one anime did that, it was something about a guy turning into a sword and seeing a catgirl thing and maybe thought "Oh nah". And starts killing.

    I love how non-one dimensionial the way love is portraied in Sk8 :) I think that's why I love it so much; love isn't just physical intimacy, and it doesn't have to be super romantic for it to still be love :33 even if none of the relationships get to be canon as romantic the love is still there in some form

    I can't help but feel like this is all a product of otherthinking things and the only solution would be to have female heros and villians not "perform" femininity at all, thereby making them indistinct from their male counterparts. Is that really what you want? Female characters who are men in all but name? Let us not forget that apart from gay male characters, male characters generally "perform" masculinity too. The two leads from Deathnote are highly intelligent, but of course that's not enough. they also need to look like j-pop idols, be professionally successful, popular with women, and good at sports. You know why you don't see a bunch of guys writing academic dissertations on how problematic that is? Because it's a cartoon...

    Yes, to all. That's why is called fiction. Terrible comedy, nvm ok comedy(chuckled 1 time). Good voice. Ok editing. Bad audio. Terrible analysis. False accutions. No rape scene in Skelton Knight anime. All these animes don't justify slavery. U seem to be a hypocrite to what u modernly deem as just & evil without actual research. Sure slavery, r*pe, s*xual harassment & etc. R bad in modernity for the most part. They're not absolutely evil concepts. They have uses & hypothetical uses. However modern people act on emotions not logic. As humans r lazy, if we no need to adapt we pander to the weak & only start to become weaker from there.

    3:30 Why tho? Not why did she go back to him that's understandable cause from the stories logic they became good friends but why specificially does she need to be his slave again? Like ok she's free now that doesn't mean they can't be friends theres nothing against the law that says they can't casually hang out if she was allowed to be his slave for Petes sake.

    7:20 "the most graphic, upsetting rape scenes I've ever seen in anime period" ok tell me you didn't watch goblin slayer without telling me you didn't watch it... but memes aside as a member of the degen side of the jury, and a trash isekai enjoyer, i have to say that.... personally am indifferent about slaves in isekai, if they want to buy them i sleep, if they want to save them i sleep but if they happen to be reborn as a vending machine or something like that, then they have my attention... Anyway back to the topic at hand, in my opinion Rudeus from jobless reincarnation is one of the most well done slavery in an isekai, as it narratively makes sense, Rudeus in the beginning isn't the most moral and ethical guy, he is pretty gray if we are being generous, but he get's better with time, so it's in character for him not to have any complaints, he had more complaints when Paul was doing it with the maid, but his uncle is a lord, so adultery isn't that uncommon in those time, it's not even uncommon now with people in positions of power to be fair, so Rudeus not doing anything there is understandable as he is just selfishly enjoying his second, not getting involved in things that don't concern him, it's only when he is faced with the slavery Infront of him dose he act, which then through these small changes and character growth, later in the show when he gets Zanoba a slave he's a little more apprehensive about it and the slave isn't to add to the harem(have not read light novel so don't know if it changes but i don't think it dose) but to help Zanoba to scalped, it would be pretty wired if he suddenly tried to bring down slavery as a whole and save slaves for no other reason then it's the right thing to do... it would be wired for Rudeus. So in conclusion, he is the most narratively consistent and coherent character mentioned in the done well section but ethical? No but that's fine as in the end of the day this is a story. Now i could go into detail why i think slavery in isekai is written poorly, but mostly it's used as a plot device for waifus, or make the MC look good, everything that was said in the video but also because it's hard, and would take a big portion of the story if fully explored. which it's why it's only ever briefly mentioned, as MC saves a couple of slaves or buys them, or just gives his stance on it and dose nothing, it's because trying to end it would take a big chunk of the story or they would time skips make it condensed and it doesn't feel narratively compelling. Majutsu wo Kiwamete Tabi ni Deta Tensei Elf, Moteamashita Jumyou de Ikeru Densetsu to naru is a good example of this as the MC is an elf and spoilers there is a part in the story that deals with elf slaves and he starts to free them, but he needs to stop the human nobles of a kingdom from hunting the elves every again, so he get's all the elves out of the human kingdom and divine retributions them, as humans don't live as long and forget with generations so he linked to the tragedy to they actions of the nobles... so that future generations of said kingdom think a little more before going after elves again anyway after that story continues as normal, it was a like half a volume. So in the end i believe it would not be only harder to write it but unless your dedicating the whole story to it, it just might not be worth it and it would just be easier to do something quick and minute in scale, also some writers are lazy, As it would be 10 times harder to get rid of slavery in a fantasy setting with magic that takes away free will, which means they can't stand for themselves at all and are at the mercy of the good nature of other people to do something for them compared to real life it would be harder but that means that there are more ways to deal with it narratively... which i shan't go into detail as i have yapped for long enough... Anyway a few good(pinch of salt) isekai manga recommendations for those who got to this point: Grand Dwarf Onee-sama to Watashi: Ojou-sama ga Isekai Tensei Final Fantasy: Lost Stranger Onmir the oddity Let's aim for the deepest part of the otherworldly labyrinth TS eiseihi-san no senjou nikki Otherside Picnic / Urasekai oicnic kono sekai ga lzure horobu koto wo, pre dake ga shitte iru Nigoru Hitomi de nani wo Negau - highserk senki / what do you with for with those murky eyes Kyouran Reijou Nia Liston - Byoujaku Reijou ni Tensei Shita Kamigoroshi no Bujin no Karei Naru Musouroku

    In defense of a realist hero it was either that or kill her and he really didn't want to kill her Plus he gave her the order to kill him if he went down the wrong path which unlike some of his closest confidants who wouldn't want to do that she as a slave has to obey that order

    Cant say i agree at all with the analysis of Sailor Moon - the statement "Sailor Moon suggests good girls stick with traditional gender norms.." doesnt resonate at all with the show i watched. This is the show with Sailors Jupiter, Uranus and Neptune, a show that celebrates women in all shapes and forms. Usagi is far from an idealised heroine or a traditional "ideal innocent girl', shes selfish, lazy, gluttonous and cowardly - at least at the very start, its her growth and her relatability that makes her a good heroine, not her being some idealised standard of feminitiy against Beryls mature sexuality.

    @cmd4104 Месяц назад

    Good video! However... I'm probably gonna get a lot of hate for this but... slavery is just morally grey. Slavery or lack thereof is mostly a product of its time and culture. I think it's silly to keep an imaginary medieval world to our contemporary standards. And sometimes it's not up to the hero to end it. For instance, there could be other priorities, like the threat to world's existence itself. And sure, most slavers are scumbags, but cases when slaves are treated decently and don't actually want to leave their masters are not unheard of. But yeah, I'd agree that lots of anime handle the topic very poorly. But that not because the trope is bad, it's just the writing in the show is bad. Don't blame the tool, blame the craftsman.
