The Global Van Event

In October 2022 we shipped our self-converted Promaster Camper to Europe. Since that time we have been touring the EU and UK having the time of our life.
We are now into our 3rd season, that is the third 90 day period we are allowed in the EU as a tourist since we arrived in November 2022. We will be touring the Balkans, Turkey, Greece and Italy through mid December.
An update, we are days away from returning to the United Kingdom and our van. After provisioning we are crossing to Santander Spain, then we'll follow the best weather.
It was a wonderful season 4. Our visit to Portugal was eye-opening then off to Spain with beachside parking.
Tomorrow we drop the van at the port in Antwerp for its return to Baltimore.
The adventure continues in North America.

Here's the behind the scenes truth about shipping a camper van across the Atlantic. Messy as best. Hotels, rental cars, airplane flights and excess luggage. Amazing what you collect in a year and a half of touring. Enjoy.

What a hidden gem and a great day explore around Antwerp. Take a boat tour in the canal and visit the Cathedral to see the famous Lamb painting. Many places to eat and relax with a local beer.

An astonishing achievement. It's all about the lighting inside. The glass follows the sun and the effect is a shift from the reds to the blues. It is really indescribable. A must visit off of peak season.

Seldom can such different types of architecture be blended in such a way as to be enjoyable. Probably not a good choice in peak season. We were here end of April and it was busy. Great views of the city.
The Cathedrals of Porto Portugal

After a harrowing bus ride to the old city we visited two Cathedrals, a Palace had lunch and made our way back on another reckless bus. A fun place to visit. No more than two days to see it all. Be aware, beaches and camping will be packed peak season.

We found this quiet overnight stop on our way to Porto Portugal. Great site, electric in all the pitches. Super laundry for a reasonable price. Ten minute walk to a beautiful lake. Very relaxing.

After 60,000 miles of van life with zero mechanical issues it was bound to happen. There are some serious considerations to bringing a US built camper to the land of metric stuff. We will manage but wow, no 1/8" hose splices, anywhere! JOin us as we de-compress in Llanes.

We have been in the EU for a couple of weeks and due to camper issues we have not been able to edit videos. Most concerns are solved and we have content from Portugal. New videos in a few days.
Herculaneum

Herculaneum was one of our last planned stops in Season 3. Maybe a bit tired, a noisy train ride from Sorrento, my attitude was not perky. Once inside the "city" was my outlook transformed. The preserved beauty was beyond description. I have no idea how they cut the stone of the floor tiles. A must visit. If its a choice between Pompey and Herculaneum, Herculaneum wins by a mile. Great footage ...

If you visit India you will be amazed by the fabulous architecture, the beautiful carvings, incredible stories and history of great antiquity. I’ve been to Delphi and did an extensive tour of Greece , which is nonetheless impressive, however, it’s completely dwarfed when you compare with the rich history of India. Cheers and best wishes…

Beautiful gardens. We spent 3 days on Skye.
Aren’t those single track roads fun!
Not so much. Lost a RH mirror crossing a bridge. Opposing traffic tok a hit as well.
We had a flat tire in Ullapool. Locals would not fix it. Car rental agency had to send a truck from 70 miles away, tow the car back, replace tire, then we had to drive back to the B&B. Nordic Visitor took care of all the other arrangements, ferry, staying an extra night, changing the next B&B. We lost a day of sightseeing. We lost side mirrors in Ireland.
We were there 2 weeks ago. Loved our stay.
Dunnigan will always be a favorite.

how was your trip to the Faroër?
Faroer was amazing. The roads, well.. I am licensed in the US to operate commercial, Class A, Trailers and Passenger Bus. No stranger to large vehicles on small roads. Faroer was very exciting. On guard rails, no shoulder, very steep grades. Pay attention or suffer the crash. Islands were so cool. A must see place. Thanks for your support. John
