The theme I'm seeing throughout this absolute cinema is that love is beautiful, be it platonic or romantic. But it can be used for horrible purposes by horrible people. It's a great manipulation tool. Yeah, I know that's obvious to all of us, but I just really need to share what I noticed. There is plenty of symbolism showing this. The flower the Murderer gets doesn't budge easily, as if itself love doesn't want to exist between the two. The fire envelopes both the Murderer, and the Stalker, perhaps being as simple of an idea as "they're both going to Hell." Then there's score in the final scene. Oh my GOD, the SCORE! The violins and the piano are *meant* to sound beautiful and romantic, but that droning, distorted sound just makes them sound sinister, just like love is supposed to be something wonderful, but is used to get away with a crime in this instance. Wow. Just wow. This should've been recommended to me earlier.
