This scenic hike takes you past four incredibly beautiful alpine lakes. The glacier-fed lakes offer beautiful reflections and options to cool off from the hike.
Starting at Engelberg in Obwalden, we take the gondola up to Trübsee. The name translates to cloudy lake. It offers incredible reflections of the alps when the wind is quiet.
From here, we embark on a 14.8km hike that has 716 meters of elevation gain.
Times to complete the hike range from 3.5 to 5 hours, we ended up taking about 4.5 hours plus some breaks to enjoy the views.
Along the trail, we pass Trübsee, Engstlensee, Tannensee and finally Melchsee. The segment follows along the Via Alpina on its 8th leg.
