    What about the body sunscreen?

    • @HereDiianas
      @HereDiianas 4 дня назад

      Hi! On my sunscreen video on the French brand SVR I reviewed several sunscreen including my go to body sunscreen (there is only that one I like and use). I explained quickly on that video that I very rarely use a body sunscreen. As a Black women skin cancer due to sun exposure (skin cancer not due to sun exposure do target Black people too but self skin examination or examination done by a Dermatologist is the best prevention...) is not a concern of mine. I only use body sunscreen when I have a risk of sunburn. I only get a risk of sunburn or sun damage when I get sun exposure for many hours non stop at a very high temperature. I may only get this type of exposure on vacations if I go to the beach or the river in the summer for many hours during the pick hours of the day (which I avoid as much as possible. I got one sunburn in my life around 20 years old and that time was enough to learn a life lesson !!!). Although that day in Paris was crazy hot I knew It was not enough to worry, plus I also spent some time in the shade. I grew up in South Of France and I also go to Congo on vacations so I have good knowledge on how my skin respond to the sun when in comes to sun damage or sunburn. Also as a Black women with dark skin I also need some proper exposure to get enough vit D. I don't want to rely on supplements in the summer too ( as per my annual blood tests I certainly need supplements in the winter ) Thanks for the question. I actually plan on making a video soon about this topic on where, how, why and when exactly I wear sunscreen as I get those type of questions a lot. You reminded me that I should seriously work on that video!

      @@HereDiianas yes you are low risk for cancer and sun burn but that accumulative unprotected sun exposure can age your skin and make it look crepey!

      @jam6web84 I live in Paris where the sun is out most of the year... Have you been to any African countries? Have you looked at people's skin there... I guess not but I have. I am from Congo which is in Central Africa, on the equator line. It is the reguon in the world with the highest UV index all year around and guess what... Congolese people on average look much more younger than most white people I have ever met although in Congo none wear sunscreens. So why should I be worried when I live in France, in Paris. For work I used to work in South India in Chennai many years ago (you can see that on old videos) where this Asian population is more dark skinned and they also look much younger than caucasians although the weather is also crazy hot there and most again do not wear sunscreens. The only reason I wear sunscreens on my face is to manage hyperpimentation due to my acne not because of skin aging and that is something I often repeat in my videos to not misinformed people on my reasons. Looking at my dad, my mum, my oldest sisters, aunts, oldest cousins etc who for the most never worn sunscreens and for the most have spend their life in Congo.... Trust me I am not worried about early creepy skin at all. And if I do get creepy skin at 90 years old I'll be fine with that, at 90 I'll have more important worries than wrinkles. Between my parents, great uncles...the ages range between 65 t0 84 and I still have not seen creepy skin although they've spent most of their life under Congolese'sun. So yeah maybe at 90 the creepy skin will appear. You should look up Dr Lim's video who is a Dermatologist in Australia. He made a video years ago on RUclips explaining some of the known reasons on why Black people's skin ages much slower. You'll learn something. There is a reason behind the term "Black don't crack" When it comes to Black people unless you got extremely unlucky with your genetic lottery, your skin will age slower like the very vast majority of Black people. Now, lifestyle, illness, stress, diet, smoking, drugs, alcohol will affect anyone's skin. So my most important skin aging and health tools is to focus on my lifestyle. I don't drink, I don't smoke, I eat healthy, I work out often, I am healthy thankfully, I am surrounded by great people which makes it easy to manage my stress if I have to face it, and so far in my life I have always adapted this lifestyle. Some use suncreens to protect their skin from sunburn, cancer and skin aging because they are at high risk with their low amount of melanin and some do not share those risks and can never get enough vitD in winter because of how much melanin they have and use summer to get it naturally because vitD is very important for health. A one size fits all approach does not always work when it comes to medecine especially in Dermatology which is why they had to implement the Fitzpatrick system. Sometimes you have to look at the individual to understand what benefit them and what work against them. And the answer is not always the same for different individuals.

      @HereDiianas 11 дней назад

      Hi ! Depending on where you live you can find some at a superdrug (like Aveeno in Canada, US, or in the UK) or at the French Pharmacy (like Eucerin for France), or at any Sephora like The Ordinary, Kiehl's or Drunk Elephant or on the brand website only like DRMTLGY and Dr Sam's. But if you do a Google search search, you'll see that they can all be ordered online.

    • @HereDiianas
      @HereDiianas 12 дней назад

      Hi, there are many things "said" to be cancerous when it comes to cosmetics. If it was proven to be cancerous it would not be allowed on the market. I know that some brands love to call themselves "clean" and others "toxic" as a marketing strategy in their favour. I know that some websites use AI technology to tell if this or that product is "cancerous" /"toxic" or not although their AI don't do real analysis but gather general information based on "some" studies....and it also ignores the fact that the concentration of the ingredients also matters plus they don't even know that information. Just like the sun is cancerous does not mean that any level of sun is cancerous. I also do my own research and I am not concerned about the products I share on my channel. With that being said I also I understand that some may have their own concerns. Personally when it comes to health, cancer etc... I don't worry about cosmetic much, I mainly focus on my lifestyle choices and diet because there are way more clear evidence there. You can now found the brand Altruist on multiple French website: www.pharmacyclub.net/fr/luxury-beauty/solaire/protection-solaire-visage/altruist-dermatologist-sunscreen-spf50-100ml-24?srsltid=AfmBOooL-nbTAvf5jn-TEfrRIYcMvdTiDbSHbRG0zK9MnIUBERUtNqDW www.maquibeauty.fr/altruist-creme-solaire-dermatologist-sunscreen-spf-50-100ml-p-68714.html www.beautytheshop.com/fr/solaire/protection-solaire-visage/altruist-dermatologist-sunscreen-spf50-100ml-24?srsltid=AfmBOoqUhn-2Ukx4Ru4dzC0qCLBUv3KoTxA75Vs3Rd-QZo05yfZTKfH9

      @@HereDiianas ahh, I understand better now. Thanks for your thoughtful reply. I really appreciate it. 🤗🙇🏼‍♀️ After some researches, i found something worth sharing. Ae you aware in Altruism SFP50, there is octocrylene which is transformed and degraded within the bottles themselves into benzophenone, a compound suspected of being a carcinogenic endocrine disruptor? In 2023, the French National Health and Safety Agency asked the French government to ban the use of octocrylene in sunscreens because of the health and environmental risks associated with this chemical substance. Some scientific publications had warned of its carcinogenic potential. In 2021, researchers from the Microbial Biodiversity and Biotechnology Laboratory at the Banyuls-sur-Mer Oceanological Observatory (Sorbonne University/CNRS) and their American colleagues carried out a study on the ageing of 15 sunscreens and anti-ageing products sold in France and the United States. Published in 2021 in the journal of the American Chemical Society Chemical Research in Toxicology, the results of this study point to another undesirable effect of octocrylene. Over time, octocrylene transforms and degrades within the bottles themselves into benzophenone, a compound suspected of being a carcinogenic endocrine disruptor and a major environmental pollutant, particularly for coral. Just food for thought. And like you said , everyone has different interpretations of their own safety.

    • @HereDiianas
      @HereDiianas Месяц назад

      . Hi, non-comedogenic is not a regulated term. Any brand can use it if they want to. There is no test to show that a product is comedogenic or not. The only thing that Dermatologists do not recommend to people with oily/acne prone skin is to prevent using pure oil on the face or moisturizer with a high level of oil in it. There are plenty of products that I have used that broke me out although they're made for acne-prone skin or supposed to be non-comedogenic, or perfect for sensitive skin..... But those same products may work wonders on others. So those terms can't be used as a reference. All you can do is to prevent products with ingredients that cause your skin to break out if you know them.... Otherwise the only way to find out is to test a product and hope for the best.

    Thank you for this review, I am keen to try the ultra light Avene SPF 50 as I can't bear the greasy/tacky feel of sunscreen on my skin. I have been using an Ultrasun SPF 30 for a while now, under makeup, which has been fine, but I have only just realised I have not been using enough. I actually got one of my kitchen measuring spoons the other morning so I could measure out 1/4 tsp for my face - I got a shock. I managed to cover my face 3 times and I think there was still a bit left in the spoon! It was certainly an eye-opener. Unfortunately, my skin felt quite greasy afterwards and makeup didn't sit as well. A friend was diagnosed with skin cancer last year, so although I have been trying to be careful myself for a number of years, it has prompted me to do a bit more research and try and ensure I am doing the best I can in terms of protecting my skin.

      I absolutely love it. It has become one of my staple. You can easily adjust the level of moisture depending on the quantity of products you apply which is not the case with every moisturizer. For the summer my oily skin needs something lighter but I will buy it again in next fall/winter/spring. They often have discounts which makes it worth it when you look at the ration price/quantity. I think that dry skin could also enjoy it in the summer and normal skin types can enjoy it all year around. It's one of my best discovery this year.

I only tried the spritz / oil base body sunscreen called "eau solaire hydratante" the translation would be close to moisturizing sunny water; the one that comes in a transparent bottle. I liked it too. I just prefer the crackling milk better. Hope it helps and if you buy from those websites please let me know how it is so I can advise other American based viewers better. Thanks !

    Thank you for the video! I have the Hyaluron Active series by Avene and i love them! But, when it comes to sunscreens, the clearance one was very shiny and greasy (regardless the fact that it is marketed for oily skin). Now, for the Avene fluid invisible sunscreen, if you see at the Whats in my jar website, you will see that it does Not deliver the claimed sun protection, because of the lower concentration of sun filters!!! It was a shock for me!

    • @HereDiianas
      @HereDiianas 2 месяца назад

      Hi and thank you for sharing information. I did not know the "what's in my jar" website so I looked it up, but for the sunscreen you mentioned... I am confused. Avène is a French brand. French brands do not disclose the concentration of each sunscreen ingredient because they don't have to, unlike US brands that must do it under FDA US law. This website disclosed very specific concentrations of the sunscreen ingredients which has never been communicated by the brand... 1.7% or 2.4%... They say that the UV filters are in very low concentration but do not say what would be the right concentration for each filter , for those specific filters and for those specific 4 filters altogether in this specific formula. That is 3 very different things. Avobenzone (an old chemical filter) and ethylhexyl triazone ( a recent chemical filter) for instance are different chemical/organic filters. The concentration required for each individual filter is going to differ but they just slumped all chemical filters together and make the same assessment for all. Plus from what I see this is an American website and those filters have not been used or studied the same in the US yet since they are still not allowed by the FDA. So what is truly their knowledge of those specific filters? What I see is only generalizations and approximations. For instance they say chemical sunscreen rarely give a "white cast". Is it a review about this sunscreen or general information about chemical sunscreens.... If it's general information why do they associate it with a specific product. I checked and saw that this website use an AI algorithm for its "reviews". I also see that there is no cosmetic chemist in their teams who could adjust or analyse the results given by the AI. Yes there is a Dermatologist in their team but Dermatologist are not cosmetic chemists they don't have the degree the expertise the experience and the network of other cosmetic chemists to get even more knowledge. They are not the one creating products in the lab of following cosmetic legislations and chemist rules in the creation of those products. I am actually very surprised that a Physician would agree to be associated to this website when Dr are usually all about personalization, being specific, and accurate... To be honest I trust the brand Avène more than this website. Avène has been around in France for many years and to my knowledge they never faced a scandal and seem to have a solid team of cosmetic chemists. There was a sunscreen scandal in France many years ago (lower SPF than what's advertised) I remember, but Avène to my knowledge was not part of it. Also their suncreens are used a lot here in the seummer and so far I did not hear about consumers complaints... So unless a proper lab, check this sunscreen and find a lower SPF that what is advertised like it happened with Purito and many other Korean brands I would trust them. But yes when it comes to sunscreens and what the brand tells us you can only trust the brand and hope they did their job which is why when I review sunscreens I do not spend that much time analysing such or such sunscreen ingredients nor I do I repeat what the brand says as facts since I don't know. Nobody know... They say this filter is better, this filter fight blue light but they do their own study to do so.... So we won't know until large independent studies are done. And those studies would only be done on each filter not entire products. Complicated...That's why I prefer to say what the brand tells us..... Because only a proper lab analysis could tell us the truth. Otherwise I just try to know more about brands to see if they are trustworthy or not... that's the best I can do.

      @@HereDiianas Thank you for your answer! Initially, as i have noted, i would love to keep my clearance sunscreen, as it felt really comfortable on my face, but i couldn't, since it turned out extremely shiny on my oily skin. And since i absolutely love Avene, and saw that on your skin, the ultra fluid sunscreen looks similar to the way that Eucerin Oil control dry touch looks on my skin, i am even more tempted to try the ultra fluid! It is an opportunity to rule out the alcohol of Eucerin (also with the Eucerin one, in extreme heat, i feel that it kind of melts with the sweat on my skin, ending in white streaks, that are not so flatering). So, i might give the Avene one a try and see how it keeps with the extremely hot, and sometimes humid, Greek summer! One thing i don't understand is why Avene recomments applying only one finger of sunscreen for the face and neck, since the correct amount is 1/4 of a teaspoon (that is approximately two fingers of product). Ps: and yes, you are abolutely correct! There is not such a thing as a truly matte sunscreen, for oily skin! 😉

It gets a pass in the world of mineral sunscreens that work for melanated skin, but as far as I’m concerned Cotz Flawless Richly Tinted SPF 50 and Olay Mineral Sensitive SPF 30 are still the mineral sunscreens to beat in terms of not leaving a cast, even though Cotz is shiny. I just found the Elta MD one a little streaky, and it also pilled a lot for me with reapplication. (I am NW45 shade for reference.)

    Hi, can you review Mary&May centella serum ? They claim to be 95% centella extract

    • @HereDiianas
      @HereDiianas 3 месяца назад

      Hi ! I checked this serum and at least they do not claim "1 ingredient only" and I see the exact same ingredients list of this serum everywhere. So you don't have 5 different ingredients list on the Internet for the same product which would be confusing. What I don't like is that again they don't share the full ingredient list. Preservatives are not listed (at least not on their website. I don't know about their packaging...). From what SKIN1004 explains, in Korea the ingredient "centella asiatica extract" is a liquid solution of centella+ingredientS/solvantS that help to extract the Centella.... so yes 95% is possible since the main solvant could well be 99%water or 97% water+glycerin or 98%water+butylen glycol..... So the 95% does not represent centella itself but centella+solvants which is too confusing for me. And we don't know what part of centella (the roots, the leaves, the water....). Many people just tend to trust brands which is fine but I don't, and the experience with skin1004 made me even less trustful when it comes to product using centella. For me this type of formula is too confusing and does not help me make a good conclusion on a product before buying it. So that's not a product I could buy myself (which does not say anything about its quality, that's just how I feel). Because of that I personally don't look for specific centella....products anymore but if I come across a face moisturizer or brightening serum that aslo contains centella I am not opposed to it but I would only care if I see specific centella components listed which is more specific and not just "centella asiatica extract" which is a vague information and can be many different things (leaf extracts, roots extracts, water extracts.....+ water+butylen glycol +........). At least the components are listed as individual ingredient in the INCI ingredients list in the right order of concentration in the product if you know what I mean... There are many beneficial components of centella asiatica. Centella Asiatica has many components: Asiaticoside, Centelloside,Madecassoside,Moside, Thankuniside,Sceffoleoside,Centellose,Asiatic acid, Centellic acid,Madecassic acid, Terminolic acid. So I would prefer to look for products with some of those ingredients. The day I'll come across such a product I'll definitely share it. Sorry I could not help you more !

I have very oily and acne prone skin, when I use only tetrinoin and plants oil (like rosehip oil) I'm fine. but when I use some skincare products, it will automatically break me out 😥😥I use dr bronner's castile soap to wash my face, ginseng essence from beauty of joseon, and red bean water gel also from beauty of joseon. apart of that my favorite are hanyul yuja sleeping mask and yuja serum. Hi, and I am glad you found you own way on finding out what may break you out. The comedogenic list that circulates online does not help me at all unfortunately. But I know from experience that using plain oils on my face, no matter the oil (rosehip oil, jojoba oil and others....) always break me out. So I avoid face cream with a high concentration of oil. But weirdly my skin seems fine with shea butter as long as it's not 100% of course but diluted in a cream. I have used a cream with 10% shea butter and my skin was fine. Also most exfoliating acids in leave-one forms like glycolic acid creams or salycilic acid toners, lactic acid serums are a big NO NO for me. But every year I add new ingredients on my NOT FOR ME list lol

      Hi and thank you for your comment, I don't know where you get this list but that list can't be the right inci list. First the inci name of centella asiatica is not centella asiatica but centella asiatica extract and brands can't just put any name on the ingredient list since there is a standard that must be followed. Also per what the brand said and from common sense in chemistry if you need a solvant that contain water to get a plant extract for your formulation then the extract itself obviously can't be the first ingredient. The inci list must list the right inci name of the ingredients, but also, they must be listed in the right order of concentration. At 06:14 in the video I shared the ingredient list that the brand itself shared on their Instagram and it does not match the list you are giving. That's also a problem I shared in the video. There are several list going around and none of them make sense. If one day that brand gets big enough to be sold in big stores that must be careful with cosmetic legislation to not get sued with the risk of loosing a lot of money like Sephora then we'll probably finally get the proper inci ingredient list.

    Lovely video. I have never used SPF only started after 40! I have natural tanned skin and local people in my origin country who are exposed to outdoors and sun also have perfect skin , they just take precautions and wear any skin barrel or nothing. I usually use ones by Heliocare or mesoesthetic Spanish brands or brands suited to tanned skins that leave no white cast. The SPF marketing is multi dollar industry but for me based on clinical trials and Fitzpatrick rating of skin Im not sure every skin type needs this. My logic being would you change the habitat of apolar bear and take it to the beach? it genetics melanin content etc is different. Prevention is better than slapping on lots of expensive no confirmation that these help against skin cancer etc or ageing is all based on genetics with your skin having the best skin which dont age externally compared to pale far skinned Fitzpatrick 1 that would burn in sun. Korean brands are also good on asian/African skin no white cast. Lovely review and naturally beautiful skin. Best wishes.

      Thank you for your comment and I agree with you. I have many other sunscreen reviews and Japanese and Korean brands are the most invisible but not the best under makeup for oily skin. Check my sunscreens playlist... The Dr Sam's sunscreens are still my favourite to use under makeup and I think that they reformulate the mineral one because it does not peel on me anymore. I also agree that people with dark skin Black or Asians.... when it comes to skin exposure can get away with simple mindful and smart exposure to the sun without the need of sunscreen. But if you suffer from hyperpigmentation, albinism or use certain medications, like acne medication or even just cosmetics to fight acne like I do then in those cases sunscreen is also important. I wear sunscreen mainly to fight hyperpigmentation on my face. For my body I rarely use sunscreen even in the summer unless I am in a group that wants to spend the afternoon at the beach in July (usually my white friends lol) . But if it's just me and my black and asian friends we would go to the beach early in the morning or very late in the afternoon without sunscreen on my body (still sunscreen on my face) and my skin is completely fine.

    I came across this video while doing research on the brand and the product you used that broke you out. I'm not sure if I completely understand your issue with this brand or other Korean brands. The omission of preservatives and stabilizers fits Korean skincare standards it's not like niacinamide or azelaic acid was added. When I looked into this topic (you aren't the first person to mention the labelling) I saw someone more familiar with Korean vs American skincare write that its similar to omitting Citric Acid from a pie. Personally, I don't think omitting preservatives is the same as mario badescu adding steroids to his products without telling customers, however, trust is really important when seeking out skincare and if your trust is violated or you feel the Korean brand(s) are confusing you are right to spend where your money gives you more value.

    • @HereDiianas
      @HereDiianas 5 месяцев назад

      Hi and sorry to only see your comments now... If I had bought this product in Korea I would have not done this video. Each country has its own rule. But when a brand chooses to sell abroad they have to follow the legislation of that country otherwise it's not a fair competition anymore. My issue is simply with any brands that do not follow the regulations of the country where they sell their products. In this case of this brand they doubled down with a very misleading marketing on their webisite and with international sponsorships ( not just Koreans). I have a video about sunscreens I will never buy for different reasons and on that video I talked about 2 UK brands which are also very misleading in their marketing and who are clearly lying when it comes to their ingredient list. They don't follow the legislation of their own country. There is not enough control and unfortunately some companies profit from it. Regarding this product, if I had been more careful I would have just not bought it .I usually notice those things beforehand. But for this product like many I just followed the movement without thinking twice. I understand that most people don't even look at the ingredient list, don't care about it and buy their skincare solely based on the marketing and/or reviews but that's not my case. Transparency is how I choose to try and buy one product over another and since I have extremely sensitive skin that also allows me to minimize buying products that may not work for me. When I break out from a product I check the ingredient list to see if there is a new ingredient I had never tried before or an ingredient I already suspected. In my case all ingredients matter not just the main active. That's what it is to have true hypersensitive skin. That's not an exact science but I have been doing for years and that helps me a lot creating my own list of ingredient my skin does not like. When brands don't do it then I can't even start to investigate if I don't even have the full information. Many people are scared of parabens now. Not me. But that is a choice for each customer to choose to use it or not. Parabens are preservatives that are still used despite its bad reputation. But for those who wishes to avoid it... How can they do it when preservatives are not shown. Others have sensitivity with the now commun paraben phenoxyetanol.... Those information are important for those consumers. It's like people who have allergies with food. They have to check every single ingredients when others just grab a pack of chips without thinking. Different customers different problems, issue, expectations. But the legislation has been made in order to have full transparency in Europe + North America. Beyond that I also don't have unlimited money so since I have to make choices I'd rather focus on brands who at least follow the legislation. There are way enough brands to choose from. Hope that help you understand my stand on this a little bit more.
