I think Madagascar is considered to be the top quality vanilla producer, but I could be wrong.
What are u doing man, n for why???
Why, I like the cut of your jib fella ;)
nice!!
I need to order
any pear mountain black this year?
Wow, very cool! So really what the hell are you preparing?
Blue Lotus Tea!
sounds like the subscription box is worth the wait for me!
sorry I missed this live (worth staying up-I am on New York time). Always a learning experience to watch how you taste teas and the info you impart. It was 85 degrees yesterday here in NJ and I had my usual hot tea lol. Please keep making videos :)
What happens when you smoke them....and what part do you smoke ...how to prepare it
Smoking it is causes psychoactive characteristics, similar to that of Marijuana, slightly more potent for regular smokers, very potent to first time smokers. In high doses it can be hallucinogenic; however, in my experience, the higher the dose I never hallucinate. But my dreams are fucking mental. And I'm alive and coherent for every one of them. This week I've smoked blue lotus extract every night and tonight is the 4th day. I recon I will have more lucid dreams tonight that are beyond my comprehension. It's pretty normal with the Egyptian blue lily. I enjoy these dreams. I learn about myself every night. These are not low dosage trips either. I smoke alot of lily before bed and I trip the fuck out in my dreamstate. Amazing plant.
drinking your amazing 2023 dong ding right now, stay safe!
Finding Ruby 18 from a Canadian source is increasingly difficult. One online vendor stopped carrying it altogether. Another’s tastes like a cheap Ceylon, completely lacking Ruby 18’s characteristic taste. I did a little research and found out that because demand for this unique tea outstrips supply, it is now common for it to be cut (or replaced) by cheaper imported tea. As someone “in the know”, can you comment on this? I am still relatively new to true tea and feel like I have to power through my regret tea purchases before making an order from you😂. “Sunk cost theory” definitely operating here….
Great question and I don't know how much I can help with your problem other than saying I don't think there has been a lack of Ruby 18 produced but I am pretty sure there has been a lack of CHEAP Ruby 18 produced. I have had the same suppliers for years so my relationship with them has saved me from any issues that um, 'price concerned' companies may have. If you are new to the high quality tea world you will unfortunately get burnt with expensive crap tea, but we all go through it. Don't feel bad about it! When you find a good source it will feel like you earned it :)
Glad you and family are well. I shaved my beard last Saturday.
Thanks for the message. I am going to keep the beard as long as the summer allows this year!
Would you consider selling 50 or 100g samples of this? Also are you using a specic type of clay pot for your oolongs?
I will have the usual sizes for this one, 10g, 25g, 50g, 100g and the 300g boxes so no worries there. In general, electric fired for lighter roasts and wood fired for darker roasts are best, but I am not an expert for tea pots!
I use the google translate app to read Asian tea and food labels. It was fascinating to hear your appraisals of the Japanese teas you were tasting. Glad I discovered your RUclips channel and tea :)
Count me in as a team mafia!😅
My simple method for controlling my water temp, as someone who is primarily a Japanese green tea enthusiast, is to use my pitcher to cool my water. Straight boiled water into the pitcher, wait 10 seconds or until I can tolerate touching the glass - should be good for most Japanese greens. Keep your infusions on the shorter side, no need to rinse. 2nd infusion is usually a bit stronger than the first, so it can usually be shorter than the 1st brew if you want consistency. I recommend trying kamairicha "curled/curved tea." Kamairicha (sometimes also called guricha) is not steamed and kneaded into the needle shape that's typical of sencha or gyokuro, but is instead finished in a wok and takes on a more curled shape like a Chinese or Taiwanese green. It will have less umami and more sweetness. These teas will also go for an extra infusion or two and be more forgiving or hotter water, due to lacking the kneading step that's designed to pulverize the cell wall and increase the intensity of the 1st infusion for sencha and gyokuro. Kamairicha is not as ubiquitous as sencha, only being made in a few parts of Japan, so you have to look around for it a bit more.
Finally getting to catch up on your videos- work has been a bit nuts. I’ve been having great results with the Jade Mountain teas cold brewed, not that the purists will approve. 😉 Roasted Baozhong sounds fun.
That, s watter Lilly
I just bought some tea and it is nice to hear it is a family operation. I found you after seeing the ruby 18 origin video and instantly bought some tea. Good luck with the business.
This sounds intriguing. It will definitely be added to my rotation of tisanes.
Everything is made from water . 🌊🌊💦🌙
These are blue water lillies.
I just tried the two different roasts from the subscription box, and enjoyed both. I really noticed a fairly strong caramel note in the mid roast, and am curious to see how the flavor profiles of both shift over the coming weeks.
They have shifted a lot! I bet I will like the mid roast better in a month or two
How to order
www.mountainstreamteas.com is the website and you can search for Blue Lotus there. Thanks for watching!
Where do I order..., how do I smoke it , drink it what are the effects and safety requirements
It would be fun to compare those two greens side by side. I’ve had oolong comparisons such your Pear Mountain selections last fall (Rich vs Sweet iirc), and some black teas/Hong Cha, but I don’t recall ever trying greens from the same garden in the same season side by side.
If you order the Fall green I have a little bit of the other day's sample. Remind me and I will through it in for you!

Thanks! We should be fine here in Hualien
I feel the pain of solo tea drinking: no close friends or family are interested in tea other than as a basic beverage ala over sweetened iced tea.
Yep, it is tough. Especially if you enjoy tea enough to go as deep into if we do! not too many people like that anywhere...:)
🙂 Promo sm
Wonderful nervine ❤
Was really fresh leaves😂 our tea..lol
Love video! So good
My favorite topic: aged teas! Warm regards from Ilya.
Great topic.
What we up too?
Drinking this year's batch right now, I think it's more fragrant than the first year I bought it. Great to know how it's produced! Thank you for sharing.
This months bounty was the reason I subscribed to the July box. Really looking forward to the way you prepared the mystery . I have been wondering about the different mountains and their characteristics. Thank you.
Preparing for what?
To smoke or drink :)
😂
Blue Lotus tea!
What’s the Chinese name of it !
Road trip! 👍🏻
You offer a tea, I’ll try it! I have yet to be disappointed by your offerings.
Finally caught up on your livestream videos! Thanks for sharing these videos, Matt. It’s intriguing to learn more about the teas I drink.
I want to smoke one

These are blue water lilies ,nymphea
Nope not n. caerulea at all
Exactly
I’ve got to admit, when you get excited about a tea - like with the bug bitten honey black oolong there toward the end of the video - I take notice . . . and start thinking about how much I’m going to order. Thanks for being such a great, honest vendor!
Unfortunately, that honey black was sold out the day before I got it. But hopefully, the next one will be better!
I’m definitely going to have to stock up on the pomelo fragrance and orange blossom this year for summer cold brewing.
