Thanks for watching and commenting. however, all the years I lived there "Eastern San Francisco" was not something I ever heard mention in Sitka. Maybe it's something they use around town now days. I have a few friends that still live in Sitka. I'll ask next time I talk with one. Sorry.

I moved to Sitka in 1961, and then bounced around Southeast for a few years and then back to Sitka for the last 30 years before I moved to Idaho. I graduated from Sitka high in 1976. I miss Sitka. That will always be home to me. Would love to get back there again as well. Take care, it’s a small world .

I got to Sitka with the family in Dec of 1964 right after Christmas. The family lived there for about eight years, then my father took a job in Washington St. and they all left. I stayed a couple more years because I had a job at ALP. In 1975 at the age of 21 I decided to follow the family and headed south as well. I've only been back a few time to visit, but growing up there has always been such an amazing part of my life. You graduated in 76... I was out of High school in 72 and Started at the mill that same year. My name is Michael Kerner. I'm sure we know a lot of the same peeps from town.

Thank you very much for watching and commenting. Visiting Korinthos was part of a 2 week trip that included a week in Italy and a 7 day cruise into Greece that we took out of Venice with my mom. There are 4 other videos on the channel from that trip. The Olympic Archeological adventure, Florence Duomo Climb, Venice Murano Glass works, and Climbing the Pisa Tower. My mom never was able to travel much and when we asked where in the world she would like to go she picked this area. I'm glad we could do that while she could still move around pretty well. She really enjoyed her time there. Your comments have motivated me to put these videos into a playlist. I'll do that today. Thanks again for watching and commenting. I appreciate them...

Thanks for watching. Porky was in the news (Sitka Sentinel) a lot when I lived there. That would be mid 60's thru the mid 70's. Porky made that little place a little more colorful. It's very cool that your related. Thanks for you comment.

Porky was a real character! His wife, Patty, was my 8th grade algebra teacher. I always wondered what their conversations were like around the dinner table!

Thanks for commenting. The drone does not have a microphone because all you would hear would be the 4 propellers screaming. All my drone flights are silent. Any sound that you hear is dubbed into the video when I edit it. Putting the ocean sounds into a drone flight is a bit of video trickery. I have 2 other videos on the channel where I fly over ocean like that. In those videos I left the music out and just put in ocean sounds. This is done by putting my camera and mic close to the shore line and recording about 10 minutes of video...and sound. In those two videos I manipulated the ocean sound volume depending on how high I was off the water or how far away I was from the shoreline. If you want to check those out they are " Long beach Washington camping, and the other is Glamping in Florida". I would like your thoughts on how those efforts worked out and if you feel that makes it seem more realistic. Thanks again for your comment.

Gavin Hill was always less accessible as far as trails go. That may have changed in the 50 years since I actually lived there. Harbor Mountain will be very different. There is a dirt/gravel road that goes to the top, and then a very nice trail that goes to the very peak. The views of Sitka from there (peak) will be great. Don't forget your camera... 82-83... Ya, I had already moved south by then. My family arrived in Sitka December of 64. I was 11 years old at that time. We moved there because my father had taken a job at ALP (Alaska Lumber and Pulp). I was there from elementary school to working 3 years at the pulp mill. I left in April of 75. Those were some of the most memorable years of my life. Great little town. Glad you liked the video. Thanks for watching.

@@JustCavey Thats cool, My father worked there as well. He was the head of electrical engineering and was rather instrumental in helping me get on right out of high school. I'm sure they knew each other. I would ask him but he passed back in 2017. Sitka was way to small not to know most everybody.

Curt, I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I would say I'm very familiar with this little Alaskan town. Growing up there from the age of 11 to 21 gives you a lot of time to explore just about everything. It's very hard to totally capture any place during the short visit on a cruise ship. Glad you liked Sitka during your visit. Thanks for watching.
