Oui, ça sonne fin de règne "tonal", parfois encore un peu dix-neuvième, toutefois cela est suffisamment détonnant pour ne pas trop sentir la naphtaline... çà sonne un peu russe, mais aussi très français par moments (5:00...). Ce bon air de grande musique ...est-il encore dans l'air du temps, celui qui depuis Schoenberg, l'a passablement démodée ? Avec le temps, enterre souvent l'esprit des choses, et leur(s) forme(s) même le bon les bonnes, les meilleurs quelquefois... Certaines époques les enterrent plus profondément...

J'aime le tout début de la pièce, et la fin enfiévrée dans l'esprit de Prokofiev, moins fan de la « partie centrale » qui sonne presque « piano stride » et un peu brouillonne par instant, un peu plus de respiration aurait donné du relief à la pièce à mon sens.

I came here after listening to his recording, Scarlatti: 52 Sonatas. I did not know his work at all but had been enjoying Horowitz’s interpretations and wanted to hear more Scarlatti. Straight away I was drawn into listening closely to Debargue (I’m supposed to be working). Beautiful style and steady, smooth-touch command of the sonatas. Always great to make a new discovery.

I am a great admirer of Debargue, but after a minute or two I found myself wishing he'd resisted the temptation to wring out of the music things that weren't written into it. I think it's a piece that should flow, at any rate until the real complexity arrives. Restraint at the beginning will pay off later.

I'd love to know what the rest of the programme was.
