Why Harry Potter should be 2D animated.
The Harry Potter world is full of so many creative and magical elements that would look best in 2D, traditional animation rather than live action or 3D animation.

10 random things I don’t like about Belle from the remake Beauty and the Beast movie.
Просмотров 14 тыс.6 месяцев назад
One of the most disappointing things from the 2017 BatB is the character of Belle. In my video I say that the blame falls to many people, but realistically most of my problems fall on Emma Watson for one reason or another. I’m fully aware this video is petty and useless. “Belle’s live-action dress is awful.” ruclips.net/video/MRWBwzVfcuw/видео.htmlsi=9tXoIpC3dj2aMpuN “Dance scene comparison - C...

I have so many miscellaneous problems with this movie, and I decided to compile 10 of them here. I don’t know why I pick on this movie so much. I think it might be because the animated version is one of my favorite movies ever, so I think I’m defensive. I took steps to go into this movie with no expectations to see what my honest reaction would be and I was surprised at how disappointed I still ended up being. I think also the fact that the Beast kept Belle using her father as a hostage, and Gaston planning on possessing Belle by threatening her father to be sent to asylum later makes them parallel and makes Gaston a foil to the Beast. It shows that the Beast started in a similar position as Gaston, but went through redemption arch while Gaston fell more deeply into the villainy. To me, the asylum plot is deliberately there to show the parallels of the two and should be dealt more significantly as in the original.

This is just a list. The chemistry between Luke Evans and Josh Gad Their vocal performances during Gaston The design of Cogsworth The voice acting from Ewan McGregor, Ian McKellen, and Emma Thompson Basically all the singing aside from the auto tune stuff The opening of Be Our Guest(It sounds really cool) Generally, the production design Evermore is an excellent song Kevin Kline and Emma Watson's scenes together The intensity of the Mob Song I generally like this movie. I think it has plenty of good things in it. The problems are definitely there, though.

There are definitely issues with Gaston in the remake. He's not really a misogynistic asshole and that's weird for a character who's supposed to be that way in order for him to work. I don't like that LeFou pays people to sing for him because everyone is supposed to love Gaston, enough that they would join him in going to kill a terrifying beast. The way he tries to manipulate Maurice is weird because he doesn't seem to have a plan and just gets violent and ties him to a tree. It's really weird and it feels early for him to be evil and it comes out of nowhere. Also, this remake doesn't include anything with the asylum guy and that's odd. But Luke Evans is still totally delightful and the Gaston song, while it's not even a fraction as incredible as the original, is still really fun and entertaining. His chemistry between LeFou and Gaston is delightful.

I really hate that the Enchantress is an actual character in the movie. It's a really weird idea in the first place and they probably could've made it make more sense, but it made no sense at all. Why is she helping Maurice? Why is she reversing the curse? Why doesn't she curse Gaston if she's there the whole time? It doesn't make sense and it's dumb. And the book is really stupid too. I don't like the plotline about Belle's mom because it doesn't add anything to their relationship or the story as a whole.

i love the original animated so much, the beast well tries to be beastly, to the point the servents back off, but Belle is at the point where she's having none of it. Beast ok Adam, his name is Adam. Adam is above her, towering above her, but Belle is the one in control, and when she thanks him, his response is human, revealing the man inside

5:05 the horns going back also made them clip through a pillow at one point! I watched this movie once ages ago and immediately noticed. And it’s an easily fixable mistake; make the horns forward like you said or give the actor lightweight prop horns to wear so he knows when he’s bumping into things. Also I watched it in german (and don’t remember much of the voice acting) and hearing some of the clips in this video… man. Some of these voice actors really were just phoning it in, weren’t they? Mrs. Potts especially sounds like she’s just reading her lines for the first time with minimal or no direction.

Cinderella is the best remake, but I actually did enjoy the new Aladdin. I think the introduction of Dahlia and the addition of “Speechless” as a song did so much for Jasmine as a character because in the original, there wasn’t a lot to work with. She felt more like a person than an object in the remake. Her having other outfits than her blue one from the original also made a world of difference, and those dresses were absolutely gorgeous. As for my biggest problem with Mulan? Sideways summed it up perfectly, but I’ll reiterate. You can’t take out the songs, aka the emotional parts that progress the story, and replace them with nothing. It’s also a giant middle finger to use the original songs in the score because you’re directly referencing a superior film.

  • @ShootingStarStudio
    @ShootingStarStudio 15 дней назад

The “we did nothing” snippet honestly feels to me like a watered-down version of “Days in the Sun.” I actually like that song and I think it serves as a beautiful way to develop the servants. Instead of all that dialogue, Mrs. Potts starts with something like “His father was a cruel man,” and have that be the lead-in to the song. Have the footage of the song show glimpses of what the castle was like before they were cursed. Edit- Question for the director: how do you make a movie half an hour longer than the original and at the same time, give one of the titular characters less screen time? Make it make sense.

    1. I didn’t notice it til now but I 100% agree! What’s funny is that they changed dialogue to fix the whole “he was 11 when the curse was placed” so that the Beast would seem more of a jerk for not letting the enchantress in but with your point he STILL has no obligation to help this lady 2. again I didn’t really notice it upon my first watching but you are right that it looks weird. I also see what you mean about The Beast looking less intimidating (although sadly I don’t think there was a good way to CGI the Beast) 4. I completely agree it was a mistake to not have The Beast escort Belle to her bedroom because it takes away from the viewers realization that not only is he a good guy deep down, but he is also a awkward guy that doesn’t know how to interact with Belle correctly due to years of isolation. 5. I noticed that when Belle “asked” (told) the mirror to see her father! Honestly the animated mirror did not look that heavy so I don’t know why they didn’t keep the original design (it was also in a satchel most of the time so even if it was heavy it wouldn’t have mattered). 6. it was so disappointing! I also HATED how Belle STOMPED down the staircase in ANGER as if SHE didn’t go into the one place she was told not to go (in the animated version anyway). Both characters acted in haste/fear and that should be apparent (which it is not thanks to how they reworked the aftermath of the wolf attack). 7. Yeah it seemed very weird that she keeped harping on “helping to break through curse” only to be COMPLETELY surprised when The Beast turned into a man. I also agree that her being oblivious (minus that one line in the animated version where she acknowledges that she’s in an enchanted castle) makes her relationship with everyone in the castle more authentic because it didn’t matter. 8. I will NEVER forgive the script writers for giving that line to Mrs Potts! It made it more impactful that THE BEAST said it! (Also it was my favorite piece of dialogue in the animated version- it was SO romantic!) 9. I actually thought they did a good job with Lefou. I especially liked how in the Mob song he got to sing (“there’s a Beast running wild there’s no question, but I fear the wrong monsters been released”) because it showed his growth as a character 10. when I tell you i PANICKED watching those two minutes between the last rose petal falling and Belle saying “I love you” in the movie theater I mean it whole heartedly!

8:49 let me explain to you why this scene is so wrong in the 2017 version. In the animated version many people thinks the Best eat that way because it's a beast with no manners, but he eats in that way because HE CAN'T EAT NORMALLY WITH THAT TWO BIG FANGS!. But in the bad version Belle is like "OK , so if you don't ascend to my level , I'll be down to your level , whatever ", witch it doesn't make sense since she there is a "empoderated Belle". They all misunderstood the whole Beauty and the Beast concept , they thought it was just copy and paste the main parts and songs (so nostalgics won't complain later on) and for the feminists they would add all that crap of Belle being an inventor and her sassyness 😂. The result is a complete MESS

I don't like it, because they made it all about Emma Watson in this move, or it does seem like it. Making the dress more manageable for her, taking out the corset because she hates them (which makes the first dress look pretty bad being so scrunched up at the bodice), making her last dress to fit more with her preferences, change the character's personality because Emma wanted it. All about her, isn't it? It's not Beauty and the Beast, it's not Belle and the Beast, it's *Emma Watson* and the Beast (hardly, as no one writing it seemed to really care too much about his character either). I think they assumed people weren't there to see the remake or Belle or Beast, but the actress, which I'm sure wasn't the case for most people. I don't care about the actress, I only care to the extend if they have potential to play their role well... Emma clearly can not, she showed it well.

I didn’t like Belle or the Beast. The only two characters that worked for me was Maurice and Gaston, one heartfelt and the other charismatic. Belle was just...Emma Watson. Not one aspect of her personality was attractive or alluring (and I don’t mean her looks, but the qualities of her character). She seemed smug, passive-aggressive, and, well, I found her annoying. The _design_ of the Beast was a disaster. The animated Beast had an overwhelming sense of physical power, cunning and speed that you would associate with large terrestrial predators like a bear or a lion. Yet, later on, like when he holds her hands to guide her into the library, he is so gentle about it. He constrains his power for _her_ needs and to make _her_ comfortable. He could easily crush her hands, but he is careful, like watching a huge, muscular guy picking up small puppy or a kitten (I don’t mean to diminish Belle, like she was a pet, only that in comparison, she would be at the mercy of this beast should he decide to harm her). I thought that was such a sweet and subtle aspect of his character, his gentleness. Being gentle has nothing to do with being weak. I read this somewhere and it fits: Gentleness is _power_ restrained by _love._ That is the Beast in the animated film, isn’t it? The live-action Beast, as you have said elsewhere, is also a failure of character and writing, just as much as Belle. But I don’t have anything to add to your analysis there.

I feel the same way. Also, 2 days ago I was at this comic book store on the boardwalk. I saw a graphic novel about this movie from Beast’s point of view. And in the west wing scene, after he chases her away he feels no remorse. He legit says in the caption something along the lines of “who cares if she dies”, I’m not making this up that’s exactly what he said. Like it felt like he just saved her for nothing. Like OG beast would’ve said something like “what have I done?” “She could die and it’s all my fault”, something like that. Like something to make him more sympathetic. But they totally dropped the ball with beast in this movie.

Live action B&B straightened out the prom scene. In the animated film, Belle and the Beast are having dinner after the scene on the stairs, when in the middle of the meal, Belle suddenly and spontaneously drags the Beast to dance. However, the staircase scene in live action Cinderella is clearly inspired by the staircase scene in animated B&B, which is why it differs from the animated Cinderella staircase scene in the grand staircase but is similar to in B&B. And unfortunately, I lost track of what the original point of my comment was, but I still decided to post it anyway, since I considered it to be such an important note.

Original movie: The most beautiful love story ever told (a romance well done, as simple as that) Grubby remake: Copy, paste, over-exaggerate characters, add unnecessary scenes and dialogues, explain things that do not require explanation (and to top it all off, this looks like Stockholm Syndrome)

Emma was supposed to play a character from the era where women used to wear corsets under their dresses. That's history, whether we like it or not, is another topic. Otherwise, why wear a dress? Heck, just put on a pair of jeans and get it over with.

I think so many things would be better 2D animated. But it takes so much work and money and these days efficiency matters so much more than art. And yeah, movies with magic and sparkly transformations and diverse creatures and lots of color get so much more whimsical and full of wonder when they are drawn out by hand instead of being "puppetted" in cgi or acted out in live action in a set. We kind of abandoned that feeling in animation altogether because they think everyone prefers realism now. :/

Belle wasn't the actual belle she was meant to be in the new movie. And plus, that dress was hella boring. The original one looks more of a gown but that dress just looked like a normal dress. They didn't even made her look like a princess and why tf was she so rude to gaston when he was polite?
