Chicago Public School Butter Cookies - Baking / Cooking Tutorial
Просмотров 100 тыс.9 лет назад
Here is the original recipe I used to make this video: www.food.com/recipe/senn-high-school-chicago-butter-cookies-377221
I love the apartment tour it is soooooooooooooooooooo beautiful
Made me reminisce those days when I was in grade school. Thank you for your clear explanation on this recipe. For beginners like me, we truly appreciate it. Have a beautiful day.🌼
This is not the original recipe for this cookiies!!
I used to live in this building. How are you liking it? I remember hating how they heated the place. Heat would only come on at certain times of the day and was based on the outside temp.
For $350 this ain't that bad like there's some other apartments that are way smaller than this and is like around $500-$800
I think this is downstairs from where I live now 😂 the view from the window gave it away for me. Are you in Dunsan?
I was planning to move Daejon and searched so many room tour videos! And i found this! Such a great video I've ever seen! 💕
we can talk about this? I'm planning to move Daejeon.
Hi thank you for sharing this...how much do you pay for this house?
This is one of my favorite Korean apartment tours and I've pretty much watched them all. I love how you decorated
Thank you soooo much Carter I really appreciate that! <3 You are too sweet!
How many sqft or (pyeong) is your apt?
This is one of the nice apartment 😌
Thanks Alice!
I love your video! Would you mind if i sent messages to you about your experience abroad? I m very interested in teaching abroad too!
Comments are best! I love for others to get the chance to read your questions and my responses :) You should absolutely teach english abroad! It's an amazing experience.
Thank you so much @alittlejac! I hope you keep making this series! I look forward to your videos 🤩
How much should one expect to put down as a down payment for an apartment like that? thanks
😂 you didn’t give an answer. Just a like.
Hey sorry I was checking the real estate app! Haha so my apartment was paid for by my school so I cannot confirm the amount for the key deposit but based on an estimate from the popular real estate app Jigbang (직방) the key money could range from $3,000-$5,000 USD. You get this money back at the end of your stay though. Hope this helped!
hello, its kinda silly but i'm afraid of living alone because i'm afraid of insects specially cockroaches😅 have you ever dealed with it in your appartment?
Not silly at all! I have the same paranoia with mice; I find them super gross. I have quite literally NEVER had a pest control issue of any kind. My landlord hired someone to actually come through and spray our apartments monthly (not a lot, just a little!)
@@strawberrynomad ooh okay thanks!
Love your apartment! I especially love your living room tree/plant. What is it?
Thank you! I WISH I could tell you what that tree is! It was a free plant gifted to me from a previous expat living in Korea. Apparently it's been passed down from new expat to new expat for 4 years now at least!
We live in the same officetel building😂 I'm jealous that you have sliding doors to separate your bedroom from your living room ㅠㅠ
LOL! I noticed many of my other friends in said building did not have this feature either. We probably crossed paths! How cool! I no longer live there sadly :(
Not the white refrigerator 😭
HAHA Yes, the white fridge! Since the apartment was used for such a short amount of time and I did not actually pay the rent, the fridge did not bother me :)
@@strawberrynomad Amazing! Is this the apartment EPIK provided for you?
@@leprincessuu The apartment was provided by my private after school academy (hagwon) that I worked for, so I was not a part of EPIK :)
3:50: I think that's an image of Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) and not Dubai.
Thanks for the heads up!
@@strawberrynomad y r u not uploading videos..u r good make it regularly.. 👍🏼
@@nishap5758 I do need to start uploading more regularly, things have been so hectic lately! I'll leave a comment on this video once I do prepare my next video~ Thanks for the support!
Shower plant is a genius idea ahaha! Great video!
Thanks! :)
I like your apartment, but honestly, my favorite part of this video is your voice! So sweet and easy to listen to, and there were parts where you sounded excited and delighted as you described various things in your apartment. That made me feel excited, too, and it held my interest.
Terra thank you so much for mentioning this! I wanted to include as much information as possible but some parts did make me more excited then others!! Haha I try to have a calm voice in my videos, I’m so glad you noticed! 🤍
@@strawberrynomad You’re welcome! 🌷
Your place is absolutely gorgeous! I'm a prospective EPIK teacher who just got placed in Daejeon! Do you mind me asking how you find Daejeon and if there's anything you feel is missing in the city? I'm from Toronto and strive in bigger cities so I just want to make sure I'm making the most informed decision before committing to spending a few grand + a year of my life in Korea! This apartment looks perfect but I'm sure this is one of the better EPIK apartments! Thank you in advance!!!
Hey Ryan! So I worked at a hagwon, which is a private after school academy, and they provided my housing for me. EPIK should also provide your housing. I actually loved being in Daejeon and I basically traveled around the country. It's affordable and livable and it's actually much easier to travel to other cities from Daejeon then from Seoul or Busan for example since it has a central location and is not NEARLY as congested traffic wise. There are countless cafes, pubs, shops, restaurants and hiking spots. The people are also super friendly once you put in some effort to connect with the culture. I could not recommend this city more!
Hi! I was looking through videos and saw your comment, I also just got placed in Daejeon for the February intake. If you need any more buddies for this coming year, let me know, it would be nice to have a familiar face lol!
What temperature did you bake them?
Really nice video...love u crib.... can't wait for more contents frm u 😁
Thank you! ☺️☺️
I love that I came across your video, I'll be moving to daejeon next year and I was after some videos of apartments, please keep posting!
Thanks so much Carine! I’m a bit busy with teacher work lately and this channel is just a hobby, but I will definitely post more! Stay tuned 😃
Wow, HOW do you keep it so clean and tidy :)
I'm a neat freak! Haha
Hello!! May I ask you about the app you use to look for the apartment or how did you rent the apartment ? ^^ because I am interested to move to daejeon too!
My hagwon found my apartment on my behalf, but you can use the Zigbang app to help your search! It is in Korean but just use your translator!
Are you give 350$ monthly pls pls pls plz plz plz tell me ?????
That's the estimated rent for the building I was in; I actually paid only utilities, so no rent payments for me!
Hey!! What made you choose Daejeon? I want to teach English in Korea someday and want to get more comfortable considering other cities outside of Seoul and Busan. Curious about how you chose Daejeon (or maybe Daejeon chose you?) hehe :)
I actually did choose Daejeon! I chose Daejeon because it has Daejeon Station which makes traveling super easy, the cost of living is great, and the pay was better. Being in Daejeon forced me to immerse myself more into Korean culture; in Seoul, you can easily slip into a pattern of only speaking English and only having foreigner friends. I’ll post more here soon! Let me know if you have any more questions; like and subscribe ☺️
@@strawberrynomad subscribed and ready to see more vlogs about life/activities/food in Daejeon 🤗
Thank you for making this video! So good. I'm moving to Daejeon next year and this is very helpful! May I ask you if you found this place through one of the apps or with a realtor?🤍
I'm so glad you liked it! Your hagwon will generally find a place FOR you unless you request to find your own. They cover my rent, I pay for utilities!
I'll be posting more Daejeon content soon, so go ahead and subscribe and like for more :)
such a wonderful video! i usually skip around these kinds of videos bc they can get pretty repetitive, but you have a knack for keeping one entertained and focused! must be the sign of a great teacher, haha 😄 i really love how you decorated the place and you're so lucky with all that space! i hope i'm that lucky when i'm there! i'm planning to apply to epik for spring intake 2022 and putting my first choice down as daejeon. thanks for the video!!! 💕
You are too sweet, thank you so much! Daejeon is a great place to start your Korea journey; I work at a Hagwon so I don’t have any EPIK advice but I’m routing for you! I’ll post more videos about Daejeon soon so feel free to subscribe for more :)
My problems are gone
No remedy for life's problems like an apartment tour!
so CUTE and such a well done video. love u!
Thank you <3
Oh there are dryers in Korea, you living in what is called "peasant apartment". I have lived in Korea for 8yrs (vacation home) and have a dryer.
Oh this is so good to know! Thanks for the info :)
Wow look at that house! Looks so clean…🤩
🧼🧹🧺
Unsalted butter has no place in my kitchen! Lolol!! Good recipe tho
I had to subscribe because your kitchen is so clean, I love it! Thank you for this video😍
Thank you so much! <3
So informative, because you made this look super easy. Thumbs up & a follow from me. Thanks
8 months n Jackie hasn't given me a ❤️ yet...
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
You didn’t break one for us to see how the inside is? Are they crisp or chewy? Texture is important. If u doubled the cookie size of ur larger ones, then I think they might be closer to our schools butter cookies. Our schools butter cookies were thick, oval, and about 3” Long.
The butter cookies in my school were about 3” Long and harder, not chewy. They were amazing! No extra overkill sugar on top. Butter cookies “as is” are amazing.
They were delicious! I am in California so I never went to any Chicago schools.
once you showed it was done baking, i could taste the cookies!!! Great video! Thanks for sharing :) <3
I've made these cookies long before seeing this recipe and will make 2 quick points: 1) Trust me you Do Not Need Salt in this cookie recipe! 2) You Do Not Need to spray your baking sheet with Pam or anything else! Think about it - the butter in the cookie dough is enough to prevent any sticking to the pan! The Real Deal Ole' Fashion recipe is simply: Butter, Sugar, Vanilla Extract, Flour - that's it!!!
No sugar on top
OMG, you don't use PARCHMENT PAPER????? Gurl, get some.
The measurements are different from the original. I make these and they melt in your mouth. I noticed you lost some of your finger pattern in your cookies. I think it’s because it’s not the original measurements. But if yours are good, that’s great.
My recipe was given to me by my Great Auntie Velma, and the measurements are slightly different. She worked in CPS lunchroom, and later, she worked for St. Elizabeth.
I just made these cookies, I made a mistake and putting to tablespoons of vanilla extract instead of teaspoons. Still delicious nexr time I'll put the right amount n less sugar because it's too sweet for me, my uncle Love's them. Thanks lady for these cookies
Your second comment got me! Haha so glad you enjoyed them!
@@strawberrynomad thank you so much...n made them last night...
Thanks for letting me know how they made that print on the cookies all this time I thought they use a special machine
CVS ain't never had these... They had peanut butter and jelly gram crackers sandwiches
