Blue Lake Loop High Route (Solo Overnight)
This adventure has been on my list for quite some time! I kicked off the trip from the North Fork Skykomish Trailhead on a Friday evening, setting out on a 25-mile loop, taking the high route to Blue Lake. The weather turned out much better than expected, but it was a September scorcher!

Alpine Lake (Straight Up)
Просмотров 304Месяц назад
Did I mention this hike is straight up? Because its straight up... lol. This trail gives Backdoor a run for its money with its steep climb, followed by a ridge traverse, and finally a descent to a stunning, pristine retreat. It's short but packs a punch, and the prize is worth every step. Might have to come back when more time allows to explore the adit and another neighborly lake.
Jade Lake (Solo Overnight)

Left Deception Creek Cutoff TH at 6pm on a Friday, hit deception pass about 8:30pm, went another mile and setup camp just before dark. Left camp at about 6am, and was at Jade by 9am. Busy area, probably close to 20 tents at marmot, about a dozen at Jade. Saw another 30-35 people headed up as I headed back down. Once I was back on the Deception Creek Cuttoff not a single person except a FS Range...
West Fork Foss River (The Wet Green Tunnel)

You will get wet. You may get soaked! Often overgrown the vegetation will reach out to you the whole way up, like a solicitor wanting to sell you an extended warranty its relentless and uncomfortable. But you may get lucky enough for a sun break at the top for some incredible views, and just long enough to dry your clothes while you warm up and watch the trout feast on the recent hatch.
Boulder Lake (Hiking with Smokey)
Просмотров 2027 месяцев назад
Morningstar NRCA closed this trail long ago due to the old bridge deteriorating. Recently, I heard they were working on reopening it, and let me tell you, "some work" is an understatement. They've put in a massive effort to restore this trail. The first 3 miles are flat and uneventful. However, the next 4 miles are in fantastic shape. While a few sections are well-trimmed, they remain lush and ...
Valley of Fire State Park - Nevada

Happened to find myself in Vegas and needing to take a day to get out. I didn't realize how popular this place was so I was very glad I got there early. Beat the heat and the crowds.
Lake Serene

After some much needed snow with a 70 degree bluebird day the avalanche forecast was high! With that, Lake Serene was a safe bet yet a great view point for some action and she did not disappoint.
Hidden Relic

After many years I finally found the location of the rumored water wheel. It's wild to realize how many times I had been within 30yds of it, and not seen it. From there a bit more of the scramble begins to the lake with some serious blowndown, which made for a headache.
Lake Ingalls (Larch Madness)
Просмотров 264Год назад
The trail to Lake Ingalls in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness is a captivating journey through diverse ecosystems. It begins in a forested valley, adorned with wildflowers and underbrush, and gradually ascends through open landscapes, offering stunning views of the Esmeralda Peaks and Fortune Pass. As you approach Ingalls Pass, the vistas become more expansive, with Mount Stuart and Ingalls Peaks in...
Walt Bailey
Просмотров 112Год назад
The Walt Bailey Trail was constructed in the 1990s by a CCC crew thanks to Walt Bailey's vision for a trail in this area. I've been here a few times and there has been many "improvements" since my last trip in 2015. Multiple bridges dropped in, porta potty on site, and many tent pads built. The berries were plentiful, the parking is not so its best to get there early.
Necklace Valley/Tank Lake (Solo Overnight)

Made an attempt to get up to Jade lake before dark, almost made it. It was busy as expected but managed to find a spot. Others still trickling in throughout the night made for not much sleep. But alas a gorgeous morning to be the first up and headed up to Tank lake and a little recon through Iron Cap Gap for a possible future loop hike.
B17 Crash Site/Tubal Cain Mine (Kayak Crabbing Side Quest)
Просмотров 101Год назад
A multi-faceted trip to say the least. The B17 Crash Site was on the bucket list. But if it's west bound in the summer, crab pots are aboard. And if we are near the B17, we might as well see the Tubal Cain Mine. And if we are near the Tubal Cain Mine, we might as well try and catch a trout at Buckhorn Lake.
Tuck and Robin Lakes (Doubleheader Weekend - Part 2 of 2)
Просмотров 632Год назад
A quick jaunt from Backdoor, traveling through Roslyn and Ronald past Salmon la Sac as far as the dirtroad goes. Nestled along Lake Tucquala a great campsite awaits. From there it's a hop skip and jump to the trailhead, which starts out easy skirting by Hyas Lake, but then takes a turn straight up a mountain to get to Tuck Lake. From there the trail converts into more of a scramble through boul...
Rampart Lakes (Doubleheader Weekend - Part 1 of 2)
Просмотров 291Год назад
Starting out at the backdoor, we'll climb up to Rampart Ridge, through Laura Lake, Lillian Lake and run down to Rampart Lakes. Taking in the scenery, a nice swim and even catching a couple cutthroat trout as the reward for the effort put in to make it to the lakes.
Alpine Lakes Overnight
Просмотров 202Год назад
With the snow melting fast we take advantage of getting up to these lakes earlier in the year than normal. We hit three seldom frequented lakes in less than 6 miles with perfect weather conditions. Some scrambling, off and on game and fisherman trails with a bit of rock hopping through a scree field.

Dorothy Lake (The Long Route w/Black Bear Sighting)
This adventure is really great! 🌄⛺️ The camera work, the description of the environment-everything was great! How was the experience of hiking alone? Looking forward to more videos like this! 🚀"
I enjoy solo hiking as much as I do hiking with others. I think there are pro's and con's to both. I bring a green trails map just in case and primarily use GPS. For GPS I use Gaia and I'm always route finding from home and studying my maps, but I have spent a lot of time out here so I know these areas well. I did run into another solo hiker that was lost and asked for help. He went a few miles down the wrong trail so I got him pointed in the right direction.
Looks like a wonderful time! Definitely adding to my list
Running the ridge between Little Blue Lake and the Quartz Creek junction is about 10mi without much water, or at least any good water in September. I was wishing I had pulled an extra liter at the lake. Happy route planning!
That looked like an awesome hike. Thanks for the video
It felt like one too, the high route was worth it though. As always thanks for watching!

Cool spot! The plan in the box is too funny, looks like a planter next tot he campsite.
Great video! Thanks for sharing some of the history, I always enjoy learning and love including that kind of stuff too. I knew about the weather balloons but I have never heard of them still being potentially active, crazy!
What a great trail with some amazing views. Thanks for the video
I was part of the team that helped WA DNR set up that new bridge where you encountered the bear!! I never got to see how the final product looked so thank you for sharing this ❤

Thanks for watching!
What a great hike! Thank you for the video
Beautiful country up there.
We used to ride dirtbikes up to the lookout before they re-designated the Reiter foothills area. Gave me a bit of nostalgia as you were walking up to it. I think I might have to go hike it today.
That's a really cool area.. sad about the B17 but kinda cool seeing the wreckage. Doesn't look like a super long hike either. Thanks for the video
Super cool! I bet those crabs were tasty!
Man.. it's gorgeous up there. Thanks for taking us along.
“Wind-resistant” mosquitoes for sure 😂. Great videos!
We sure are fortunate to live in such a beautiful state. Thanks for the video
That was one of my bigger take aways from hiking Section-J last year as it felt like we were the only locals on the trail. Most people we met were from Europe. I'm very fortunate for the ability to hike these trails whenever I want to. Thanks for watching!
Any catches, nibbles or rises at lake 3? Seemed barren last time I was there.
Either wdfw is inaccurate with it's report, or they are feeding the frogs and ducks, there is nothing.
Great video. My wife and I went there last summer, and this is what it felt like. But we had blueberries, so neener neener. :)
Is this bc?
Just south of BC in WA.
Great trip! Love those views as well. Thanks for the video
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the great video and the list of gear. 🙌🏽 I have been trying to find that type of water bottle.
