The shift solenoids, does one of them control the downshift passing gear? My 2000 ranger shifts up and down smoothly but I can never get it to shift down for passing. Tx

I followed this video step by step and now I don't have reverse, it doesn't go in gear in drive unless I put it in 2nd first and it's flashing the overdrive light. So now I'm trying to figure out what I miss.

Got mine done a little bit ago. Put new cable on too. I'm going to have to adjust the cable for a little softer shift because NOW totally unlike before you hit the throttle and it's like you're opening a transwarp conduit. Beetle's transmission thought it was ok. I knew it couldn't have been quite right because I drove one in a van years ago and it was totally different (qualitatively better). *I was actually taught by a Chrysler Master mechanic how to rebuild the A500 and the A518 (RH transmissions). But we didn't do valve bodies. They came as an assembly. The RH is a little different than the RE. That was 1996 and I had one of those first mystery illnesses and never did go on to work on transmissions. Stress causes illness. But otherwise I've had the same healthy respect about how the inner working of an automatic transmission works as my dad. He used to say they were mysterious and magical. He preferred manual transmission. And I do IF the slave is external. (Cable or manual adjustment fine too.) But for an automatic the torqueflite like the TH350/400 and C4 and C6 all used licensed versions of the Simpson planetary system and thus are good and fairly simple. I think BW (Borg Warner)was the first to implement the Simpson planetary system. I watched an E4OD rebuild last night. I don't know what to think of it. A C6 would be a lot better but 6 mpg less. (Not to mention the extra RPM on the engine and the fact the cam in the engine was designed for OD RPM) I'm thinking AOD ATM.

A salesman was trying to tell me all i had to do to replace the TV valve was remove it externally. I was pretty sure that wasn't right.

your skill and courage should be applauded! I have a question about the solenoids. Is there one just for the downshifting into the passing gear? Out of the blue my 2000 ranger will not drop into the passing gear but for all the other gears it's smooth as silk. Any thoughts? tx. Would using something like Seafoam Transtune work?

Shouldn't you be spaying some chemtool, wd40, or brake cleaner in the bores befor replacing the valves? I'm just an ameture, but just wondering... what do ya think? Forgive me for being naive, but I know moost good valve body rebuilders usually thoroughly clean the vslve body befor rebuilding or putting a shift kit in it. So don't get me wrong, i like your video on how to, do it yourself, the only thing i can say is, you are obliviously a pro that does this all the time. It would be a little better for us ametures, if you used a better camera, or photographer to get in much closer, so we can see what the fuck your doing sir. But thanks for sharing your expertise on this subject.

What would a heavy duty application be or mean by adding the oem spring along with the new spring.is that with extra damage or if it has more miles or worse shifting or if your going to be doing heavy duty type stuff with said vehicle

Has anyone used the larger .096" hole size in both the 1-2 and the 2-3 separator plate ,,? I want to know how hard this will shift . I do ocasional towing and alot of hit the go pedal driving , thanks

i installed this kit into my ranger with a 3.0 and it shifts hard as hell from 1-2. new EPC fixed the 2-3 flare, but the 1-2 is so damn strong it feels like its going to snap something inside the trans. what do you think?

THANK YOU BIG TIME ,, WITHOUT YOUR VIDEO I WOULD HAVE BEEN LOST !!! I just put that kit in today ,, but i did not drill holes ,, , all i did was put in new EPC , TCC solenoids , clean the screen , and install thermo blocker . Thermo blocker went in easy . Two keepers fell out and i used your video for the keepers , check balls, plate screws , and thermo blocker . thanks again !!!!!! oh ....and also ,,, i found a blown out upper gasket .

Did the kit change? I ask because i ordered this kit and there a few parts missing and the instructions are not the same.

This is definitely not something I want to remove and clean.

When I pulled my cover plate off I didn't have the metal valve. Truck was hard shifting 1-2, struggled finding 3rd time to time and slipped after an hour of driving and going up a hill at 55. Also wouldn't shift into overdrive. Is there I way I can order just that valve as I've got a sonnax zip kit on the way? Or does the kit come with a new valve.

Can you leave the transmition in the truck when you do this?
