Ipswich went into the final game of the 1993/94 season with the daunting task of getting something from their match against a Blackburn side that would finish as Premier League runners-up. In the end a hard-fought point was enough to ensure safety as results elsewhere went their way. Footage includes highlights from Chelsea against Sheffield United at Stamford Bridge, where a last minute Mark S...

Just glad they all had to traipse up to Hillsborough for nothing.
The next time these 2 teams met at Old Trafford it was 9-0 to Man United!
I was in the away end for this one.
My first ever game. As mentioned, there was a lap of honour as we thought we were safe. Only to be relegated a few days later 😂The kids used to all stand at the front of the Holmesdale. I have such a strong memory of Armstrong's diving header from sea-level. More than 30 years on and that team is still so iconic. Two future international managers. It's also an amazing reminder of how different football was played then. Thanks so much for uploading.
Claridge was subbed for passing to the side and not lumping it into the corner. The cult of Beck. U's had such a talented team
We were In the ipswich end over in the corner a good few arsenal .. went of proper after the game
Remember singing to the spurs fans “have we f***ed your season up” and “where’s your season gone?” They were throwing seats down on the family section….
Super Kid Kevin Campbell RIP scored
Great video - followed instructions carefully, old belts were complete gum. Replaced belts and now tape turns but no output at all!! Any suggestions appreciated!
I was at that game
2:02 into the allotments
Good game. The year before the Hare Krishna riot
He took a relatively new club on the European scene. They not only won the European Cup, they retained it (1979 & 1980). He just knew how to get the best of every player to make a whole team.
Didn't Ipswich get relegated at the end of that season?
A time when football was free on the tv and no muslims in Britain
My first ever Arsenal game. RIP Kevin Campbell. Legend.
Thank you Graham, your instructions are first class, what was once a useless cassette deck is now playing brilliantly.
I was there as an Argyle fan. I remember as Robbie Turner had the collision with the goalkeeper, you could easily he was badly hurt. Most Town fans where shouting at him for time wasting. Then they went quiet as he was stretchered off. We made a few choice chants about it. Wasn't a good day, we conceded that goal and our best striker get's stretchered off, running into his own keeper. Doesn't get much better than that! lol
Very many thanks for taking the time and going to the trouble of making this video. Without it, my machine would have been scrap. As it was, these clear step-by-step instructions and clear video enabled me to to the job in less than an hour (helped enormously by the man at Miratv in Bromley, Kent, who allowed me to pick up the drive belts rather than wait for them to arrive in the post). I would have had a clue how to do this job without this video. Brilliant.
What a great memory, had been at white hart lane a few days earlier when we beat spurs, then this, had a fiver on town to win 2.1, won 65 quid, a firtune to me back then
My first visit to Anfield
Hello. Thank you for your video Graham! Sending you a message from Edmonton, Canada. I have a similar unit. A TC-K707ES. I would like to replace the belts. Where did you purchase yours from in a Germany? Thank you kindly!
I got the belts from an eBay seller called Phonohifishop. They appear to still be trading. Thanks!
Stockwell was a great player
Watched this all these years ago on tv in a pub in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. Was very proud of Ipswich beating the previous year champs. We are going back to the Premiership, wright? At least I am hoping we do.
Thank you Graham, I am about to do this to my Sony TC-KE400s deck myself, and this video will be most helpful. Very well explained and covered. Thank you again. Andrew
I'm trying to figure out, as a Town fan why this season doesn't bring back particularly great memories. Yes we were efficient but hardly an exciting team. I get a lot more pleasure from George Burley's 99/2000 promotion.
Remember being at this game for Dozy's return.
If Manure got a draw here they would have won the league that year. Well done Ipswich.
I was at this match I was 25 years old
I'd forgotten about the Megson bullet OG! I was behind the goal that day. The same goal as the legendary Bryan Gunn air-kick 😂
Just saw myself 30 years younger in the crowd 😢
My first away game. I was 16 and on my own. I had never been so scared during or after a game, I was in the “family” enclosure seating for away fans and a couple of Leeds fans tried jumping the barriers to get to us at the end of the game. I hid my colours, got out and found my lift as quickly as I possibly could.
Hi Graham, I was just wondering if you have a sister called Tracy. We met on a school exchange in about 1988.
Yes, I do! I remember you. I hope you are well!
She said she was happy for me to share her Facebook details: facebook.com/tracy.ratcliffe
A masterclass in how to service a machine with clear instructions. Thank you
Could only dream of this at the moment and even then it probably still wouldn't
Paul Scholes first PL goal!
really lol
No, Jason did not sign a new contract 😅
Went to that game it was the last home game of the season for Town. . I remember Forest fans going on to the pitch at the end ,and mingled with Town fans .There was a few minor scraps but nothing major,I believe Forest were relegated that season.
I was mascot at this game that’s me having shots at Bruce groblaar in the warm up
Sorry my dad was
my mate was an ipswich fan and i remember watching this,,, and following his career till he came to the villa, jelly ankles and all,,, so sad he is gone,, am i right in thinking this was his first home game
Went to this game ,met some great Blackburn lads before the game .Remember running on the pitch as you do last game of the season and shaking their hands through the away end fencing.
Lots of this Man Utd side were really underrated players - Pallister, Sharpe, Hughes, Kanchelskis, McLair - even Paul Ince, who captained England on one or two occasions. Cantona, Bruce, Giggs and Robson will always go down as greats of the game though.
Excellent! I'm glad I found your video didn't realise how simple it was to do! Many thanks!!! 👍👍👍
What a poor pitch at that time
Swindon should of stayed up that season despite the stats they had players like fjortoft Horlock Moncur etc but leaked too many goals
Excellent - cheers!
People talk about Everton escaping but it was Ipswich who were the lucky ones.
Reflecting on Survival Saturday in 1994, Everton's stunning comeback is well-documented, yet Ipswich Town's fortune was even more remarkable. Enduring ten games without a victory and managing just two draws, Ipswich's form certainly suggested relegation. With only 30 seconds left in the Chelsea vs. Sheffield United match, Ipswich's fate seemed sealed. However, Ipswich's manager Mick McGiven, who took over after John Lyall became Director of Football, along with the fans, owed gratitude to Mark Stein and Glenn Hoddle. Hoddle had tasked Stein with proving his fitness for the cup final, and Stein's brace was the ideal reply, rescuing Ipswich and dooming Sheffield United. For Sheffield United, it was the frequent draws that doomed them; the defeat at Chelsea was merely their second in 13 matches. Their other loss was a 2-1 setback against Aston Villa, not typical of a team facing relegation. Yet, with seven draws and only four victories during that stretch, it was this lack of wins that culminated in Dave Bassett's squad being relegated.
I have KE600S that needs some repair too. Does it have the same tape drive mechanism as yours? How many belts are there in that mech? Thank everyone for advance and advices.
…..Excellent, especially the speed adjustment, I was at a loss, as the normal back of motor adjustment didn’t work, thank you tons….. for this I use a cassette tape with a keyboard tone recorded in G played back to an old fashioned guitar tuner with a moving needle, works a treat…..of course this cassette test tape was recorded on a known correct speed recorder…..thanks again.
Great video. It helped my replace my belts on my deck. Plus I wouldn’t have know you had to adjust the play speed using the trims on the circuit board rather than on the motor itself unless you said.
