I think the voices is referring to level 3 and above stages of hinamizawa syndrome where the people infected start to hear delusions of "Oyashiro-sama" whispering, and making footsteps. In reality, it's actually just hanyuū following them repeatedly apologizing in most cases

In the game for Kageboushi-hen if you have voices enabled, there's a scene with Natsumi and her parents where she starts to hear people's voices all distorted and they sounded a me a lot like this demon chanting, lol.

I always heard it from the first episode it came on, but due to the style of the song, I thought they were counting down from 10, till the beat droped, and then said some kinda 90's phrase. i.e. 10... 9... 8... 7... 6. 5. 4. 3. 2! 1! 0! DANCE/GO/ALRIGHT/YEAH!! I was so far off! I was Blind but now I See!

@@landofthegoldenwitch2645 That's only in the concept of the Umineko series, if we take Higurashi as a mere contest of witches. In the context of Higurashi itself Hanyuu was an Oni who became part of the Furude family and the reason why the main reason the Furude Family are considered to be the descendants of Oyashiro-sama. The story behind Hanyuu is basically that she was leader of a group of Oni that lived in the mountains and had a tense relationship with the humans who lived in the plains (which is actually told very early during the Watanagashi chapter as the "legend of Onigafuchi Village"). She eventually falls in love with the Priest of the Furude Family and they have a daughter. Honestly poor Hanyuu got a rough lifeconsidering she was forced to kill her husband to appease demons, and her daughter was forced to kill her when she went on a delirious rampage to slaughter the men who attempted to hurt her daughter. So yes, apparently the main gist of the legend of Oyashiro-sama and the Watanagashi was actually real and not just superstition.

Im sure it's intended, just like the chants from the opening of the first season when reversed become the chants for the second season opening and vice versa.
Actually, im not surprised if this is even here, because listening to the instrumental, and you hear and 100x more instruments and sound.

That makes sense since the town is cursed by a demon who kills for fun.
