MY CAR (2014 SENTRA) STAYS IN CLOSED LOOP FOR THE MOST PART ; IT MOMEMTARILY(LESS THAN 15 SECS. ON COLD START) GOES FROM OPEN-LOOP TO CLOSE-LOOP. I COMPARED THE DASH TEMP. WITH THE SCAN TOOL TEMP OF THE ECT. & THERE WAS A 22-26F DIFFERENCE(HOTTER) FOR THE ECT. I CHANGED THE ECT SENSOR ..THE PROBLEM ERRATICALLY PERSIST.(TEMP. DIFFERENCES) NEVERTHELESS I'VE NOTICED MY DOWNSTREAM O2 SENSOR- WHICH ABNORMALLY, BUT MOST OFTEN, READS .28V, BEGAN TO READ (.28-.85V) ERRATICALLY..... IS THIS BECAUSE THE NEW SENSOR IS MORE SENSITIVIE??? ANY SUGGESTIONS?? OH YEAH, I HAVE A LONG-STANDING ISSUE "P0420"..I READ THAT THE ECT CAN CAUSE THIS CODE. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!
How did you STOP the motor from rotating when you applied Air pressure 100 psi would push the piston to the bottom of the cylinder now you have a valve opening
Hello sir i have a hyundai car.. Cranking but no start.. we test the compression and the Reading is Zero. We also do the live data and run some test. And DTC is clear.. what do you think is the problem... mechanic says engine needs to Overhaul..
Excellent explanation!
Got to love that FROCED induction!😂
1 more like from Bulgarian.
@11:53 mark, millisecond is shown as 0.1 seconds - but is actually 0.001 seconds, correct? 1000 milliseconds is 1 second.
Really great video and very transferable to the traditional 'points & condenser' type systems that I often work on. I have a question also.....based on a 12v system, +ve earth, dynamo, 6 cylinder vehicle, 36 deg dwell angle, 3.0 Ohm coil. On one vehicle, when running I noted approx 12.4v at the +ve terminal of the ignition coil and only 6v at the negative terminal, both versus earth from the battery. To me this seems like a huge voltage drop of over 6v, I'd normally only expect to see perhaps a 2v drop. What are your thoughts on these values? Does it suggest that there is something wrong and arccing to earth somewhere? Many thanks....
Awesome
WHY would my new motorcycle start knocking right after a service at the dealership ??? ECU update and/or oil change. Help please.
I have a pinking noise in my new Triumph T100 twin 2020.....only hear it at idle....start about 20 seconds after a cold start....its gone as the motor warm at about 3 mins. Sounds like tapping.....thought it was mechanical.....but as an experiment I took out the INTAKE AIR TEMP SENSOR. Lay out still connected.....and at cold start heated the IAS with a hair drier.....the ping or tapping is not there if I do this.....far as I seen its making the ECU think the outside air temp is hotter than it is. Whats going on.... What gave me the idea to look at the IAS is that on hot days....I hear the tapping sooner after a cold start....and it goes sooner. Anybody give me any clues.....its quite common with my type of engine....no dealer can explain it.
No where on the internet do they use the tester like you show.. The instructions with the gage also say you are doing it wrong.

Hi I have lexus is200 year 2000 the car is stuck in open loop and it won't start I've been trying to get it going for months now. Do you have any advice please? I tried spray easy start through the intake and there's just a small fire to try start. There's spark on all 6 cylinders.
Your video is provided by Google. ❤
USA,mazda 626 GE 2.0 L 1995 year.Mitsubishi ignition distributor with S1 hally sensor. Can someone help me with the correct electrical diagram of this thing.the commutator has a 6 pin connector and there is also a 3 pin connector on the side of the distributor. The injectors spray gasoline but there is no spark in the distributor car will not start.
Greetings: I agree. My explanation may have been identical however U have a more simple way of communicating it. I am very technical and meticulous. Good job. Thx 4 the share.
This is amazing
thank for explain. i have dodge raam 21 6cyl when i drive on high way its gose very well but when i reach speed 140km its stop speeding and the rpm gose up the dtc i have close loop down stream...?
Great lesson
Nice tutorial!
Wonderful information. Thank you! Really good lesson!!
Does a wet compression test require a special tester?
Me being me, I have at least a hundred questions, but hands down, any tech that has a scope and wants to analyze ignition waveforms needs to watch this video.
What if I have wet cylinders-gas- from rich carb situation or weak spark or a combo. Should I remove carb and plugs and let air out/dry for s few days, maybe brake/carb in the hole to promote drying prior to compression test?
The Mazda I had in my 20s ran on this engine design. Kind of a neat engine.
Thank you very much. Which O2 sensor you were talking about? The upstream or the downstream? I suppose, the latter one?
Liked the string theory , brilliant presentation.
My vehicle when I bought it as I understand is tuned only to run open loop as I don't even have O2 sensors, It run's perfectly fine. But the fuel economy is horrendous on idle in summer (122 ambient air temp) Will adding the O2 sensors and retuning the vehicle to closed loop. Will that improve fuel economy?
Have 2019 ram 1500 5.7hemi why does 3 of my o2 sensors read mostly 750mv but I have 1 that reads 000.750 mv. Like decimal in wrong spot ask some people nobody knows, and they are brand new oem from mopar

Excellent.
My Lexus 5.0 V8 (2UR-GSE) uses both Otto and Atkinson with both port and direct injection.
Jimmy neutron..?
What model picoscope do you have?
How does the sensor get cycled from low to high and high to low? Is it the ecu creating a condition of lean and rich?
He doesn’t explain this. I think it’s due to pulses from the engine as exhaust leaves through each exhaust valve. Hopefully someone will clarify this.
best video ! thanks for the great instruction and help
atleast the test was positive
Very good!
That was very good and I thank you. Years back when GM began using HEI, I learned that disconnecting plug wires would usually blow a hole through the center of the rotor. The hole could be seen when holding the rotor up to a light source. Although the car would run, it did so quite poorly. 🖖🏻🍀
volume too high with the FX
the colliding fronts theory doesn’t make sense, Imo, I don’t know who came up with it. It’s true two fronts will cause a pressure spike but not because they collide. The secondary front basically accelerates combustion because fuel burns in two places at once. Pressure would go up like twice as fast but that itself wouldn’t be a problem. the problem is the piston may still moving up after the fuel has burned and will fight against the pressure. so it’s just equivalent to having a very advanced timing. There are cars with two spark plugs and the colliding wavefronts don’t cause any damage because of proper timing

Thanks for this description. I found it very good. I have just ordered a hybrid SUV with Atkinson cycle engine coupled with an E-CVT. . Does the VVT allow the engine to select between Otto and Atkinson cycle as required so you can maximise torque when needed. ? Thanks Rob, Melbourne Australia.
No one will know how to work on this..not even the dealership, they can’t even figure out issues with older Otto gasoline only engines. I work with a company with a large fleet of vehicles..they have their own garage and when they have trouble solving issues they send it to the dealership and guess what?… the dealership in most case can’t figure it out either !
This presentation is very well done. Thank you Sir 👍🍻
Great video
This guy doesn't answer questions!

thanks for clearing up some confusion. It was bugging me but I did not know why.
thanks for filling in the blanks from all the auto videos I have watched
