Windy Friday morning
Friday morning at Beaver Creek Campground was very windy (wind 20 mph / gusts 40 mph). The campsite itself with a north or northwest wind is very exposed.

I hiked from the Beaver Creek campsite to Spray Falls on Friday afternoon. The trail as good with just a few ups and downs but great views of Lake Superior.

Site 11 Willow Flowage

Late January I had an overnight campout on the Willow Flowage. I had hoped to see the northern lights but it was cloudy all night and it did not happen. However this site and Site 15 are excellent locations to do so if the weather and sun cooperate. The sled pull to the site was not too difficult because of snowmobile and ATV traffic on the snow compressing the snow.

This was a beautiful sunset over Grandpa Lake. The peninsula campsite is a great site. I hope to return in the future.
Seagull to Alpine portage

This was the first portage of the trip. The trail is in excellent condition and well maintained, though there was some up and down on the trail. Both landings for the portage have very good standing areas.
Seagull Lake to Grandpa Lake portage
Просмотров 119 месяцев назад
This was the hardest portage of the trip (190 rods / 0.6 miles). The middle to the portage had some areas that would be wet after rain. However on this trip it had not rained for about 1 week and the trail was in good shape. Also the wettest areas did have duck boards which would greatly help. Guidebooks rate this as a difficult portage but in dry conditions I would rate this an intermediate po...

This was a new Ramen that I found in an Asian Grocery Store. The favor was nearly the same as I remember from my trips to South Korea. I did add dried vegetables and spices (dry garlic/dry onion/dry green onion). I also fried some SPAM to go with it. For ramen the calorie count was high 550 before adding the SPAM.

Grandpa Lake Campsite

Grandpa Lake was my goal for this trip. It is a very nice small lake, however it does take a long portage to reach it from Sea Gull Lake (3/4 mile). The campsite does have a very nice rock outcropping which overlooks the lake. There were a few loons on the lake while I was there but they did not make many loon calls the day and night I was there.

The end of the first portage of the trip. It is a nice landing and loading area. With room for multiple boats. The portage trail itself was very well maintained.

I just listed this stove new in box on eBay.
@@jeromebullard6123 I will take a look. I love this stove!

Hi ! Is this what they also call the " spider 1 "??
Yes
is this site accessible to be hiked to from the trail?
i know its off the trail but wouldn't be too hard to get to would it?
@@davissmith9723 I have done off trail hiking in the area and it could be done.
@@ironearth7013 thanks so much! looking forward to my trip early september. got Coyote, Bass and then Loon, some of the best and most remote :)
Great spot & setup!
I found a big chunk of anthracite coal in the shallow surf of the Gulf of Mexico back around 1999-2000. I stepped on it and picked it up to inspect it and I thought it was some sort of lava rock or something. It wasn’t until years later I found out from my Earth Science professor what it actually was. He said it more than likely fell off of a transport ship and washed up in that area. I still have the piece of coal and I just think it’s such a cool story.
I will check it out this summer.
You should go to camp 54. It's a big hill to climb but the scenery amazing
Great little video and great stove. I think your windscreen is upside down, though.😊
Can you be precise on which fuel do you use? i am seeking to find white gas in portugal and since i cant come across with an apropriate translation i dont have a clue on what to use, and the manual only says it burns white gas. like can you tell me the brand of the fuel or the exact chemical formula?
White Gas is also called Coleman Camp Fuel. White Gas is 60 octane gasoline with no additives. Many white gas stoves can also burn gasoline for this reason.
White gas is also called petroleum naphtha. I hope this helps you.

Jealous. Beautiful place! Subbed.
Thanks!
It is a great campsite. The portage from Seagull Lake was not bad.
Hi, I've been following your kayak camping videos for 2 years. I found them to be very relaxing. Such a solitude and meditative. I also have an Oru Bay kayak. Always wanted to do a kayak camping trip, but don't want to solo it because it's kinda risky to go all by yourself. Wish I'm in MN, so I can go with you! Keep up with those videos and please share your multi day solo kayak camping trips with us. Thank you.
Solo camping is not that dangerous if you take precautions.
Beautiful scenery here! You've got a new Subscriber.
Headed to Bass on Friday!
Nice video. Which sites would you recommend at Sylvania? This site looks nice.
My favorite site in Sylvania is coyote, but it is a little work to get to.
@@ironearth7013 thanks for the response. Top 3 sites? Coyote is booked for when I want to go. Thank you
Loon is super awesome, but I've never been able to book it.
Yeah many places on land , in water and along the shore. I try to reuse ♻️ stuff as I can.
I live in the UK when we went on holiday last ( in the UK)I always woke up earlier than my man and kids I use to grab a bag go for a walk on the beach and pick up trash for an hr. Always made me feel good to start the day.

The store is called Enjoy Camping.
Nice video, friend. I own one of these too. It's a shame they discontinued them, as they pack down so much smaller than their other whitegas stove models.
I have a few different white gas stoves but this is my favorite one,
Great review! Love your mods, and agree totally about the colour 😎
Thanks! 👍
The stove appears to burn pretty well. Do you still get the gasification with these modifications? I could not tell for sure from the video. Thanks for the video. It looks like you live in some gorgeous country.
Once the fire is going strong the stove does have gasification.
Thanks for the video; I'm thinking of modifying mine by drilling more holes in the bottom as you have done. I find that if it is not sitting on a metal plate that the intake holes on the bottom are easily choaked off. Lixada has a similar stove out that has much more clearance on the bottom to prevent this.
I have more videos on my channel about additional modifications I have made and using the stove.
@@ironearth7013 Thanks, I will check it out. I have the large toaks, but also have concerns about the bottom holes being choked off if not on a hard surface.
If you still monitor your page. Are all campsites hammock friendly?
The campsites are hammock friendly; however almost all the sites must be reached by canoe or kayak.

Is the Wayne national forest lake Vesuvius? If so where at?
Lake Vesuvius is in the Wayne National Forest about 10 miles north of Ironton Ohio.
That's awesome. We're taking my boat to that spot this weekend. I hope #16 is available!

I found it at the what used to be the Field & Stream store.

Where u get the pole
From a structural standpoint, if I could guarantee the seal, would installing a hatch on the rear section be helpful? I don’t know how much the panels support the full weight.
A hatch would be an interesting idea. Even more so with the Coast which requires almost complete disassembly to get gear in and out . With the older version of the Bay this is not that difficult. However all Oru Kayaks are not water tight so dry bags are needed in any case.
It kills me with laugher that he is calling it Moh. But it's Mah milli ampere-hour 😗😗😗😗

Good heater. I burned a tent down and my clothes using a candle for heat. My fault I fell asleep. I have not a problem doing this again except now I use vegetable oil for fuel. In case it dumps it will just go out. No fumes. And have a solid base. A really cool video is "waypoint survival" hobo homeless heater. Its solid. Not a problem for a car camper
FYI: My Titanium shepherd hook pegs are the same weight as the stock aluminum GeerTop pegs... 10 grams each. I actually prefer the GeerTop pegs because they have far better holding power than the Titanium shepherd hooks.
Nice video. I have this light and like it quite a bit. Wish it had a red option but a red baloon might solve that. Nitecore makes great headlamps too.
I want to try to add load lifter straps. Reinforce the strap area and make them adjustable. What is the equinox site you mentioned for the add on pouch?
Absolutely good job wear a PFD
Hey there. Some friends and I will be headed there in a couple weeks. You mentioned the mosquitos were really bad. Really hoping they mellow out. I imagine it will be better. Looks like temps are dropping to high 40's at night. We will be out there the 21-29th sept. . Any pro tips you got for us?? :)

I have the new Bay ST and i find it to be quite wobbly,, felt like i was going to tip over. I was more stable after i added float bags in the bulk. Watching your video i think adding weight would help. How far do you travel roughly in miles?
Your video was most helpful! You're turning that thing into the Cadillac of kayaks! 😆 I just purchased a bay St and I definitely need to upgrade the seat. I'm going to use these add-ons. Thanx!
