A new set! I was tasked to create a turning stop motion animation set in collaboration with my partner, who will be making the music! A little crab inspired by my Ping tan island journey I did in China last month. These crabs are called sand bubbler crabs. They feed by filtering sand through their mouthparts, leaving behind balls of sand, creating unique pieces of art! Yay I'm home :) Elaine.

It's been a while :) I have finally returned to France. For the last month I made videos but was locked out of my Gmail account in China so I didn't manage to post anything... Hello! Here is a new LNCCR ? shall we abbreviate it somehow? ... Making a little butterfly animation by using fall/winter leaves! Can't wait for spring when the butterflies return and the flowers bloom :) (maybe we could do this again but with flower petals. Question, did you do the eye blink in post?
The blinking was done by using small paper cut outs and placing them on top of the eyes during filming, just like the eye balls :)
You are incredibly talented and creative, it is a great pleasure to see your ideas and work. A 5-8mm thick aluminum tube or similar which is stuck through the ball and glued so that it cannot rotate inside the ball. Hang it up in a cardboard box where you have cut off the top and the front and make two elongated protrusions that the ball can hang in when you film. Glue a handle or similar at the end of the aluminum tube so that you can rotate and lock the ball in a position you want.

Gorgeous, wonderful work. Really beautiful!! As for turning the ball- a thought is to - if possible- put a long wooden dowel through the ball, then place the ball between two surfaces of even height (with the dowels on said surfaces) and roll the dowel end(s) to put the ball in motion. May I ask how you researched the mythology for this project?
I took some courses, one focusing on ancient egypt in general, and two on hieroglyphs. :) It's not perfect though and I did take some liberties with the narrative.

Hi! Is that puppet able to stand and be moved without tie downs or are you using something for tie downs?
Hello, it can stand (but not well enough to animate with). For this particular one, it doesn't have tie downs, instead I always need a rig or I carefully glue it's feet aha.
