University Project: Auto Stirrer
Просмотров 567 лет назад
Here is a short clip of an Auto-Stirrer which I made my way. The stirrer is part of my University project, Research and Development. The construction of this nifty little outcome has allowed me to gain knowledge which I can apply to my future studies, which include robotics, mechanisms and other automated outcomes. The first intention was to make a whole series of machines which would connect u...
Blacksmithing journey ep 5: Making another pair of tongs
Просмотров 1488 лет назад
Looking back at the first pair of tongs that I made, I realised that they weren't the best quality and they didn't function very well either. So I started to make another pair, it was also a good test for my parting-off tool; I don't think i would try cutting anything larger than what I did in this video. It still took me a while to get my head around what shape the pieces needed to be, but I m...
Blacksmithing journey ep 4: Making a parting-off tool
Просмотров 1318 лет назад
Here I make a working parting-off hardy hole tool. The tool was made up with two different steels; one of them being tool steel. I needed the edge to stay sharp and I wanted to work with tool steel, so I welded a piece onto the end of the main part of the tool and went from there.
Blacksmithing journey ep 3: Making a hammer
Просмотров 3378 лет назад
Within this video I make a hammer. It took a lot longer that I originally thought but I finally did it. Now with this new hammer, upcoming projects should be produced quicker and easier. It was a massive learning experience trying to move a large piece of metal, I started to get an understanding of using the anvil to my advantage, as well as the simple hardy hole tool which I made at the start ...
Blacksmithing journey ep 2: Making a hammer drift
Просмотров 2198 лет назад
This is really where I start to make a hammer head as without this tool it would be impossible to make a hammer head. In this video, I struggle to move metal with a tiny 16oz hammer. I can only imagine that it will get harder when I try shaping a hammer head. Please note that I am using a small hammer as it is part of my university project where I start from the lowest point and work my way up,...

Blacksmithing journey ep 1: Making a pair of tongs
Просмотров 4098 лет назад
This is a start of a project that I am undergoing at my University. I'm starting off with a 16oz hammer and i am planning to progress through making tools, making better tools as time and my skill advances. This is my second time blacksmithing and just from making these tongs I have learnt so much; the way the metal moves and the heat that is needed to make it easier for myself and the metal. S...
Citroen C3 2010 series - fan resistor replacement
Просмотров 105 тыс.8 лет назад
This video is a demonstration of how to swap out the fan resistor in a Citroen C3 2010 series and onwards. The resistor is situation behind the glove compartment, just behind the heating pipes. You need to twist the resistor anti-clockwise, then wiggle the resistor out and insert the new one. Hope this video helps.

Hi, I watched all the videos available for the blower motor resistor on RUclips so I opened the black cap with a flat screwdriver and saw on the the inside a transistor, I checked the number and saw it was a mosfet and it tested short circuit between the drain and source of the mosfet, I bought a replacement mosfet at my nearest electronics store and soldered it in and the issue was fixed, I didn't have to spend all that money on a new one, it was a really cheap fix, converting it back to British pound it was 0.84 pounds sterling for the part, it works 100% now, just sharing some info if someone has basic electronic skills and want to rather fix it. Good luck

Thanks for the video. I can confirm it is possible to do this without removing the glove box or other interior trim, although it is mightily awkward. Purchased a replacement from GSF Car Parts - a genuine MAHLE component rather than something off eBay. Worked a dream and saved me a mint.

Whats the symptoms? My blower works fine as it should but they have never blown as hot is i would of expected. Had the car 3 years now and its always been like this cam belt water pump has been done and no heat gasket issues and car gets up to temperature ok and has never over heated… its just the blowers have always been luke warm and never actually get hot enough inside the car to ever really need to switch them off

Realy helpful. Removing glovebox requires certain amount more tugging than on yours. So for anyone else, There are 2 screws and 3 plastice trim clips under the glovebox, and three across the top of th eglove box, the rest is just tugging to free the retianing clips. Did snap one of th eclips off, but glovebox went back in afterwards and screws hold it back in place. To remove the fan resister i did need to remove the wire connector and then get some grips in to get the turning force - it moves no more than a tenth of a turn. Fans now running properly again. Could not have done this without the video, and instead would have ended up sepnding £100+ at the garage, rather than £18 for the replacement part and < 1 hour of time.

Hello there (Helpful video) My citreon c3 (2004 reg) makes a clicking noise each time the AC is on turned on. I came across an article that mentioned that the usual cause is the stepper motor gear missing a tooth, this moves the diverter flap and is a common fault. Would you know what is causing this and what i need to do exactly please. The AC also blows hot air and only works at times not all the time. please help.

Don't know how to proceed. Like to find the cause (cause none of the two dealers told me the real cause...). Anyone Anyidea? appreciated and thanks.

My wife's DS3 blower was on all the time. I couldn't remove the glove box but managed to replace the resistor by removing the trim under glove box and the small bit of trim next to it (1 screw). Very fiddley but can be done. Blower now works normally.

Nice job. Must have been an unbelievable pain to forge that out with that tiny carpenter's hammer. I don't like criticizing things, but I would like to mention that if you were aiming for a rounding hammer like the kind Alec Steele makes, that round dye has quite the sharp radius; it's not necessary for something like that. It'll work plenty well as a ball pien, though, and the flat side has nothing wrong with it at all!

    • @harrisonelliott2366
      @harrisonelliott2366 7 лет назад

Thank you very much! It definitely took some with that tiny hammer. Any criticism is helpful as it educates me! I'm no blacksmith, I was just dabbling into it as part of a project. But I've taken note, thank you :)

That is impressive. I have been blacksmithing, as a hobby, for about 20 years, and have worked and talked with many other smiths, and I can count, on one hand, the number who have tried to make their own hammer. I have make many of my tools, but never a hammer. It is just not usually worth the time, effort and frustration that it takes to make one. I have also enjoyed watching your hammer work on camera. Many videos show the steps but leave out much of the work during the steps. Nice job... looking forward to seeing what is next.

Thank you very much! There might not be more blacksmithing projects coming out soon as I don't actually own an anvil and forge. I do this kind of work at University and have just started my summer break. I will try and put some other metal work videos up though; as I have a few projects in mind. Thank you again!

Nice job there, I wince seeing that claw hammer though lol. A simple 2.5lbs cross peen or engineers hammer will make you so much happier and your wrist, elbow, and shoulder will thank you. Just a bit of advice, make sure to test a piece to see the effects of both water and oil hardening (assuming you're using unknown steels), I make drifts from old jack hammer bits. You can get these at supply places or scrap yards, just ask if the supply place has worn out and used up bits (They normally chuck them out). Those bits tend to be in the S7 category.

    • @harrisonelliott2366
      @harrisonelliott2366 8 лет назад

+Alex R (The Last Antediluvian) Very, very helpful! To make you wince even more I made a 3lb hammer using that claw hammer, was a lot of work but should make future projects a lot easier. The video of that should be coming up soon. I will definitely have a look around for the old jack hammer bits, great idea. I was stepping a bit into the unknown quenching in water and I don't think it worked very well. I did quench the hammer head in scrap motor oil which seemed to work, so maybe I should quench the drift in that too. I only really quenched it in water as I didn't have any oil at the time. Thank you for commenting, it's much appreciated as I don't really know what I am doing (You can probably tell!)

Do yourself a favor and pick up the 3lb Czech hammer from Blacksmith Depot, for years I used a rounding hammer and now that I use the Hofi Style hammer and method it's saving me a lot of grief.

+Alex R (The Last Antediluvian) Thank you for the advice, grateful that someone who take the time to comment. The only reason I'm using this wood work hammer is because its influenced by my University work; where I have to start from the very bottom and work my way up. My next video is about making a hammer hole drift, and then a hammer. The hammer shown in this video is now falling apart.

+paul dutchman It's clipped together in quite a few places so it will be quite difficult to pull off, but I can understand you not wanting to pull and break it. It really does take some pulling, if it doesn't come out then the only thing I can suggest it take the car to garage and ask them to take it off.

There's also a third screw on the bottom left hand corner, only accessible after pulling off the panel on the left of the glovebox, by the door trim.

I've just had the same problem, as there's the airbag to consider I didn't want to heave it! It is possible to do it without removing and also without unscrewing the side panel (1st thing done in the above video) as neither T20 nor any other bit would budge it. I bend it back and dropped the cover under the box and managed to FIRSTLY unclip the wiring and then the resistor. All three knuckles are bleeding but SUCCESS and working!! PS The side panel pushes back into place and finally the lining under the glovebox.
