all images taken on the Sony ZV-E1 tracking was great and focusing was fast, i can get away with just 12.1 megapixels if i know what i need in the frame and large animals not a problem, small birds long lens is a must as not much room to crop but it makes you think and work for your image, i just love this little camera a great tool for wildlife

    I had the Sony 200-600mm 5.6-6.3 G Lens, but it is too big and too heavy, not easy to handle, so I sold it in 2023. In March 2024, I bought the Sigma 500mm 5.6 DG DN OS Sports Lens, it is so compact, so light weight and so easy handle and operate, I can hike with it for hours holding it my hands all the time. The optical image quality are excellent, I can very highly recommend the Sigma 500mm 5.6 DG DN OS Sports Lens.

    2 downsides. No TC on the Sigma. That's what put me off and of course the reduction in FPS. Makes no sense.

    • @dbphotofilm
      @dbphotofilm 16 дней назад

      You get a TC for the L mount now and im not sure if one will come for the E mount, but that defeats the object of going light in my opinion. if you wanted to add a TC i would stick to the 200-600mm as for the 15 fps thats down to Sony not Sigma, Sony caped its high end fast cameras the ( a9 or Alpha 1 series ) to 15fps to any non Sony lenses, but this lens is about going light, thanks for watching

      Just use a 61 megapixels full frame Camera in APSC mode or a 26 megapixels APSC camera and you have "750mm" !

      @@pentagramyt417 I would not use the 200-600 with teleconverter, I sold that thing because it is too heavy and big, not a joy to go hiking in the nature as the Sigma 500mm are !!!

      @@cameraprepper7938 I agree with you 100%, I even think about switching to OM1 + 300 mm f4, but I just wanted to tell there is a much of a difference between 750 and 1260 mm. Sometimes I really wished I had 26 mpx left on aps-c mode, because it's not enough at 900 mm, and I am not even very much far from the bird, but it's just so small..

    Outstanding images with some lovely editing mate. I bought the 2-600 a few year ago and sold it due to not using it as much as I should at the time. I'm going to re-buy this lens and glue a 1.4 tc & my A9 on to it. I bought an A7iv for my dog photography work and stopped using the A9 due to the fact the screen is poor for low to ground portrait orientation. I will get back into the 200-600 with A9 setup

    Excellent informative video. I agree with all of the above. It looks like we both stumbled on NISI filters after the ugly colour casts of other makes I just wish my CanonR6 mk2 subject tracking was as good as the Sony’s in Video mode Canon now has the hefty 200-800 to complement the 70-200, 100-500 Do you think you could get away with 100-500 if only shooting mammals? Keep up the fine work. Safaris are addictive but getting expensive the way I do them😊

    Hello Dean, i have the GM II 70-200mm too since November 2021 - never regret buying it. How would you compare using it with the TC2x versus the G 200-600mm? With the TC1.4 it works fatalistic - i know. I am searching for a stronger tele optics partnering my GM70200 for Africa this summer... Thanks!

    • @dbphotofilm
      @dbphotofilm 5 месяцев назад

      i found my 70-200 with the 2 x tc fine just a tag soft but easy to pull back, i only use this set up if i cant take the longer lens, if you was to compare the 70-200 f2.8 with 2 x TC @ f6.3 its very close to the 200-600 at the long end @f6.3 but again it also depends on camera as well, i use it with the A1 which was great but not so great on my R3 or A9, if i was to be on the safe side then 1.4TC with clear image zoom in camera is far better, hope this helps and thanks for watching Dean,

    I imagine you must be made up on the way the ZV-E1 handled the safari challenge, I certainly would have been. The focusing seems very accurate and the colours from your listed settings looked bang on, well, to me anyway. You gave me personally a great deal of help when I switched from Panasonic to Sony, I’ll be back in touch via email if that’s ok !! This was a great upload thank you for sharing. I think anyone who thought this camera was purely a vlogging camera have been left open mouthed with amazement. If anyone could exploit and provide evidence that it is a video beast and good for wildlife enthusiasts it had to be you Dean, fantastic my friend 👌 Phil.
