1870's Solid Walnut Dresser Rehab - Ready for the Next 150 Years
In this video I restore this 1870's solid walnut dresser using two-part wood epoxy, two-part clear resin epoxy, and Odie's Oil finish. This rehab stays true to the original design but uses modern materials. The intent is to give this beautiful dresser another 150 years of life. It is now a treasured piece of furniture in our home and gets plenty of natural distressing from my two boys.

Flying to Key West in our Cessna 172
Просмотров 4,7 тыс.4 месяца назад
We fly VFR from Palm Beach Gardens (North County Airport F45) to Key West. Along the way we have to navigate clouds and the crowded South Florida airspace. While in Key West, we stopped at Sloppy Joes for lunch, tour the beautiful downtown area, and try some of the delicious local deserts.
First Time Furniture Flip / Small Table Rehab / Epoxy / HVLP Paint Sprayer / Casuarina Wood
Просмотров 5428 месяцев назад
This is my first attempt at a furniture flip. It turned into a rebuild when I decided to replace the top with an entirely new one. This is definitely not something that would make money, but it was a good learning experience to grow some new skills and learn some valuable lessons. I used Casuarina wood on this project. It is a beautiful and rarely used hardwood in South Florida.

Replacing a Double Oven / Reusing the Plug / Do It Yourself

In this video I replace our old oven/microwave combo. The appliance store charges $250 for the installation, so I decided to do it myself. It was relatively quick and easy and well worth my time. I also reused the existing electrical plug. This saved me $30.
Patio Sofa Restoration / Wicker Sofa / Furniture Rehab

In this video I restore a patio sofa that was purchased five years ago from Costco. The Florida sun and rain destroyed the vinyl wicker. The aluminum frame and sunbrella fabric on the cushions was still good. I came up with a quick and easy way to rehab the sofa and extend its life for many many years. Adding cedar wood to the sofa also added weight and rigidity which makes the entire sofa feel...

The paint retails at Benjamin Moore for $60 per gallon.

Nice, but should have used hide glue
@@kennethcaputo671 is there a brand you would recommend? I’ve seen people using Old Brown Glue. I’ve never used it myself.
@ that is the type I use. Benifits are you can heat it and take things apart.
@ thank you for the advice. I will try it on my next project.
@@matthewschultz7945 All of the serious furniture restoration channel people that I watch every day try to use period correct glue on their project and Hide glue and fish glue are their favorite choices because they are reversible with heat and Old Brown Glue is their favorite pick; that said, there's no wrong way to pursue your passion.

Cool video. I hope you guys keep making more. Vanessa definitely greased the first landing. Btw I loved your avionics package. I wonder if it is in your plans to update interior and paint? Cessna 172 is such a great airplane.! You should make a video flying to Bimini .
@@Limaxulu1 Thank You!!! I think our next video will be an IFR flight to the Bahamas. We are just waiting for the weather to settle down a little. Most guys say, "Happy Wife, Happy Life". With her flying it's more like, "Happy Wife spares your life".
BTW, why do they call it Runway 9, when there is literally only one runway? Not a pilot (yet) just curious.

@@5Ring The runway is named for the heading you take when landing and taking off.
Great video! What year is your 172? Is that the 0300 Continental.
@@MarionBlair yes! That’s right. Good eye. It’s a 1966 172G with the six cylinder Continental engine. We’ve had it for a few years. Been a great plane.
My first time catching your channel. Fun flight, this is what GA is all about for me. A few questions; I like that you addressed the fuel prices, why did you get fuel at EWY? Looks like you could make it with reserves back home. 2nd, have you thought of adding audio? As a fellow pilot I enjoy the ATC during flights. Lastly, how does Vanessa keep her iPad cool? I battle this with Florida sun all the time. Great, fun video, look forward to watching more.
@@chrisreagan8651 I’m glad you found the video! Yeah, definitely should avoid fuel at EWY if possible. Vanessa is pretty careful when it comes to fuel. She always tops off, even when she doesn’t need to. We have an audio recorder. Next flight I will try to capture all the audio. If we go to The Bahamas the audio should be interesting. Her iPad that is running Foreflight hasn’t had any problems with overheating. She always has air blowing on it from the vent. Just need to get airborne pretty quickly in the summertime. Flying in Florida in the summer is an adventure. We are looking forward to the cooler months and calmer weather.
Mine overheats easily also. (yoke mount). I bought a small USB powered fan which I'm going to try. Once airborne, it's fine.
Hi, thanks for sharing your video. I have a question, the rear speakers are also Alpine S-S65C 80W/240W? Greetings! 😎
@@01anton16 I used Alpine SPE-6000 speakers for the rear. They are two-way speakers (tweeter integrated in the speaker).

Did you find that the stock head unit and the new speakers created enough bass without adding an amp , every where I look says I will need to add an amp or else it will be to much highs with no bass
@@jessyhassard8954 more power is always better for bass. No doubt. But I found the bass response to be pretty good. I wouldn’t add an amp just to drive these speakers. The head unit is sufficient. It won’t shake the windows of the car next to you, but it will be plenty good.
Does your fusion have tweeters in the door? And if so did you swap them?
@@nathancotton8020 yes, I do have tweeters in the door. I tried swapping them out, but the plastic molding for the tweeter was unique to the stock tweeter. It would take a lot of work to replace. My tweeters were still sounding good, so I didn’t replace them.
A person asked me for 500 dollars just to do the installation and I also have to buy the speakers. I started to investigate and found this video. I did everything as it appears in the video and now my car sounds more than good and it cost me less than 100. Thank you brh

Thank you for the video. My front left door speaker just started to vibrate and now I know how to replace. EXCELLENT !!!
That’s awesome. Good luck with the replacement!
SUPER Dope that Crutchfield supplies a harness plug in! I'm amused that the video speed up with audio (at least over mobile phone speakers) sounds like a little hamster is doing the install 😆 It's kewl you got some help & definitely appreciate the shout out for the daughter ha Are you also replacing the package tray 6×9s & the dash 3" ( i think it's a 3)? 😁 I think for my Fusion, I want to install either Infinity Kappas, or Infinity References. Not sure, though.
I completely agree. That wiring harness makes the job much easier. I was going to replace the 3” tweeter, but the housing is very specific, and would take a lot of custom fab work to get it to fit. Plus, the tweeter still sounds good. I don’t have 6x9s in my car. The grills in the back are vents for the battery (plug in hybrid). I wish I did have some 6x9s! I could really make it thump with a nice amp.
can you re use the factory speaker spacer? does the factory speaker unscrew from it?
I don't believe so, I have a 17' Fusion, essentially exactly the same audio. The speaker & mount are one assembly. That's also why Crutchfield is super awesome as they supplied the adapter mount & that wire pigtail to still be able to use the factory connector! 😎 I saw another vid where someone separated the factory speaker from the mount, but didn't show how. Either way, the speaker was somehow cut out from the mount, & he did that, so he could still use the factory connector for the newer speaker. So, in this vid, Crutchfield supplied an adapter & a pigtail to use for the factory connector. In the other vid I saw, he just got the new speakers, cut out the factory speakers from their mount (which has the harness connection point as part of the mount housing, all one piece, no disassembly without modifying the whole mount) & soldered the new speaker terminals to the factory connecting point. Way more involved, but still not crazy difficult. Also though, cutting the factory speaker out to use the mount, means you're not reusing the factory speaker! It's either destroyed, or you're going to destroy it to use the mount. Crutchfield way, with supplied adapter & pigtail, you can still put back on the factory speaker for whatever reason later down the road. Oof, sorry, ramble done 😆
Great idea for filling the gaps and great results!
It’s been almost a year now, and the sections haven’t noticeably moved, and no plants growing through the cracks.
Great idea! I’ve done some smaller pads and a large one for a shed, all of which would’ve been much easier doing in sections like this. I’ll have to look for your part 2 to see how you filled them in to look seamless.
Thanks! It’s a good workout too. My deadlift started to improve after lifting those 80lb bags of concrete.
