Congrats on finishing! I wanted to know what that black layer that you wore was. it looked versatile for both cold/winter/sun and looked like the hood was fitted. I'd like to look into that. . .thanks and congrats!
Outdoor Research Echo hoodie, black with blue highlights to start but wore through on the shoulders 2/3 of the way, then switched to a white one that I summited in. I highly recommend them.
Congratulations on an awesome AT thru hike! Great documenting as well. I just found your AT vlog and watched the entire journey over the last 2 weeks. Wonderful to watch. Well done!
Awesome! Thank you!
Awesome. I am looking to do this exact section this weekend and I was looking for a video to show a coworker what the emma carling Trail looks like, and I find this one which is exactly what I'm doing this satruday. Emma carlin to that disperse camping area. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Congratulations! I've been following you since Sonora Pass/Kennedy Meadows on the PCT. I've enjoyed watching your videos!
Thanks for watching!
I've immensely enjoyed your adventures on the AT - so much so that I took last week off work and hiked a few short sections in Maine and New Hampshire myself! Your advice makes perfect sense, especially when it comes to self-care, and it resonates even more based on your experiences on trail. Will we have the chance to follow you on the CDT for your triple crown?
I have plans to finish the Arizona Trail (Pine to Utah Border - stopped because of record snow last year) and the PCT in three sections (NorCal, Oregon, Washington). One thing I realized on this hike is I don't want to spend that much time away from my wife again :-)
@@madhermithikes9007 Fair point! If you post future videos, I will be sure to watch. All the best!
Sound advice. Thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
Congrats!!! Well done!!
Well done. Reinforcing basic principles.
Thanks for all the tips
Congratulations MadHermit!
Thanks for bringing us along. Safe trip home.
Beautiful views!! Boulder scrambling!! YOU DID IT!!! Congratulations! Great pics at the top! A good day to summit.
Yayyyyyy!!! Congratulations sir! Outstanding of you to include views of getting down OFF that summit….oh my word!

Yay!!!! Congratulations!!
So cool! Great job, Bob! Those views are amazing! What’s next? 😉

Congratulations! I have been following you since the PCT trail. Well done!!
One last mushroom picture! Congrats and thanks for sharing. Hope you do one more with final thoughts and reflections.
Thanks for sharing!
You did it- great job. I have enjoyed seeing your journey. Thanks for sharing.
Congrats…well done!
Been following you for most of your journey! Bravo and Congratulations! So glad you had some fine weather to summit. Impossibly mighty! Carry on.
What an awesome and incredible feat! 🎉🎉 Congratulations in what makes you mighty.
Every video that I’ve watched of this trip, I’ve thought “how beautiful”, “how breathtaking”. This section..wow, that’s gorgeous! Thank you for sharing your journey!
Thanks so much for watching; glad you have enjoyed them!
Good job improvising for registration. Beautiful lake and last sections of forest trail. Exciting with the approach to the finish!
So exciting
I bet you got cold in the night by the lake.
Fortunately, it was not as cold and windy as the previous night!
Even though I’d already seen it from afar, that incredible view of Katahdin from the Abol Bridge was one of the most memorable of the entire trail. Hope your summit day was as pleasant.
You will see tomorrow! :)
More beautiful hike in the forest mixed with mountain-top views! Katahdin is close!!!
So close!
Beautiful views!!
Beautiful to see the leaves are beginning to change. Thank you and your wife for these videos!
Are you missing the trail?
There has been an adjustment period, but I love my full-time RVing life and being back with Kristi, so it didn't take long to move on.
Beautiful lake views, especially the opening. Wonderful hike through the forest. You are getting close!
Hi Mad Hermit! I saw you on Ramdino and was glad to hear you are doing well! You won’t remember me but we shared a pizza delivery at Partnership shelter about 4? months ago (it was GREAT pizza - thanks for that!). Take care. Stay safe. God Bless.
I do remember you, but am struggling with your trail name. We ordered together and you had some scrapes on your leg that were healing, right? Katahdin was challenging and I'm glad to be back safe with my wife. How did your hike end up?
@@madhermithikes9007 My trail name was Tea Party. Yes, I had a bad fall right before Fontana Dam and had a deep puncture wound (surface is healed but still healing underneath) on one leg and 3 wounds on my arms that are healed. Unfortunately due to an unknown weakness in my right ankle, my trips/falls continued to happen although none as bad as the one I mentioned. As I approached, in the rain, more rocky areas north of Glasgow, Va, I became more paranoid about falling right before Priest and decided it was too dangerous to continue and stopped at mile 816. It was a great experience as I saw great views and met a lot of nice people, like you. I just wish I could have continued. Do you remember a guy named Yard Bird from the Partnership Shelter area? I have been wondering how he was doing? You probably know that Air Head, who was there in the Partnership shelter, finished on Katahdin about 3-4? weeks ago. A Swiss couple, Yellow Knife and Swiss Chocolate were there also. I hiked with them for 3-4 weeks until I decided to stop. They were VERY NICE people. Unfortunately, Swiss Chocolate (the husband) was having knee problems even before Partnership Shelter and it just wouldn’t heal with less mileage days and/or zeroes so they eventually decided to stop at Harpers Ferry. His knee has healed up since they have been home in Switzerland. You may have met Grayman? He finished about 3 weeks ago. Sparrow and her dog, Mica, (don’t know if you met them?) and 7Iron? finished about a week ago. Sorry to run on so long! Take care.
Congratulations on finishing. Tremendous show of strength and perseverance!!
Congratulations on your finish on Katahdin! Tremendous show of strength and perseverance- you should be. ERY proud of yourself!
The views just WOW!
I'm glad you got to see a moose and her calf!
Couldn't believe it took that long!
You continue to overcome challenges.! Beautiful views .
Way to go buddy. This is ET. No Nuts and myself made it to the summit of Katadin. It was a real pleasure to hike with you. Hope to see you on trail again.
Congratulations! Glad you guys made it to the top (and back down again). It was always good to run into you on trail, and I look forward to seeing you again!
Beautiful views! Thank you for sharing!
Thanks for visiting
Great hiking day! Beautiful views, some challenging climbs.
What year was the plane crash
It was in the '80s
Wife and I are impressed that you can take film walking along the trail without stubbing you toes or tripping. Hope you do a post hike video with your thoughts and reflections.
I do trip and stub my toes! If you have anything you would be interested in hearing certain topics, please feel free to let me know and I will put together a video! Thanks for watching!
@@madhermithikes9007 I would be interested to hear your prep for the trip and things you would do different next time.
Thanks for taking us along! Keep going…you’re almost there!
This was a beautiful day. I like the way you stop to look at mushrooms, birds, etc. Take your time, enjoy the rest of the journey.
Thanks so much!
Awesome!...You're so close!...great video...
Very interesting rock formations.
Love the views! Very nice of Eric!! Rest up!
Congrats on reaching Shaw's, the last frontier outpost of civilization. I have fond memories of my stay there. Maybe just enough to pay-it-forward to a brother thru-hiker ;-). Onward thru the wilderness...
I had always wondered if it was OK to camp a bit off the trail rather than at a formal shelter / campsite on the AT. My "no chaos" preferences are much like yours, so I'm glad it's possible. You're doing great, by the way. I am really enjoying watching your progress. Keep it going!
