Cat Encounter with Deer
My House Cat, Prissy guarding her territory. I have never seen this kind of a reaction from deer to a small cat. I feed the deer daily, and they come up to me when I bring out their food. I was sorry about them having to come back later when my cat took her usual nap.

1954 Savage Arms Mower with Briggs 6BH Engine

One of the early examples of the light weight rotory mowers with the newly introduced in 1953 aluminum block Briggs and Stratton 6BH engine. This mower was made by the same company that made guns and rifles. I believe that they manufactured reel, rotary, and ride on mowers from around 1946 through 1959.

An old reel type mower I got used from someone in the early 1960's. I have never seen another one like it, so I can't say if it is original or not. The 2.75 horsepower Briggs and Stratton engine starts easily, runs strong, sounds good, and does not smoke. The mower deck is missing the original grass catcher, and fan belt shroud; however, it still cuts grass very well.

Conversion from the original Muncie M20 over to the M22 transmission gearing in a 1966 Chevelle. Video attempts to demonstrate the change in sound between the two kinds of Muncie gear sets.
Briggs made that basic engine layout for over fifty years. I worked on many of those 6B and 8B engines when I was a teenager. Remember well that copper fuel line that would get bent and leak and was easily cross threaded. And that oil bath air cleaner. Briggs refined it to a tank mounted carb with no fuel line,and an oiled foam air cleaner and it was cost cutting and worked great.
Add a gear drive you got a real whine.
Sounds just like a model T. They have helical cut gears on them and they make that whine too.

Love that gear whine! Honestly, I'm glad I didn't hear a bunch of high rpm shifting with the tires screaming and the transmission getting slammed from one gear to the next. It would have taken away from what I was trying to listen for. I don't mind the rest of the noises I mentioned, but time and place is all. Breaking in a new clutch is a good reason to make an enjoyable video, and this one is calming.

I had one in a 68 Firebird 400 H.O. I replaced the shift knob with the Hurst T-Handle, which was common in the mid 70's. Wish I had never sold that car.
