Spoilers (despite the old video) and mostly my opinion. Find this video as a good and fair overall way to compare them while keeping to the spirit of their decks.. I am so gald Aoi got the 1st place here. Her Trickstar as meta and the startegies ways were really good, and in the anime she was fighting people with meta, were high tier worldwise or both, besides being an offical carrer as a duelist. Makes sense how she perform, here, since in the anime 2 turns of her could take down her opponents with this deck but of course her loses were due to people running anti burn. On a side note, yes Marincess were Aqua cards, but when Aoi got thoses she put her own spin by employing a burn strategies and Wonder Heart was arguably made by learning from her loses (unaffected and hard to beat in battle with the field spell); don't know if she would have the same results (though a easy Link-3 2500 climbing with battle protection and recyclabe Wave with negation and immune to all are really good here) and would be aboslute among all if she got more dules with those and maybe more cards for mroe diversity. Alexis was suprising 2nd but makes sense. Despite having high knowledge on dueling, being the top of her dormitory and class, and decent skill, the probel for her anime wise was the extra fluff of cards and underwhelming consitency with Ritual and one copies and her anime perfomace was underwhelming as well (maybe with a better deck part of her wins wouldn't rely on the opponent doing questionable-bad plays). But getting rid of the fluff, increasing hte rates, keeping it just one startegy and keeping the better generic S/T did wonders to her here. Akiza has many similarities with Alexis in strenghts and problems. If has good skill, maybe less knowledge than Alexis (less of a carrer), but a better anime campaign (beat an Earthbound Immortal user and faced Sherry last season) but as show here, most of her deck, despite decent, cosnsitency cards cannot hold water themselves, requiring Synchros to make use of the Plant Engine (which some of the better cards she either never ahd or had but were/are banned, but her options are limited (without Stardust would've been way worse); her S/T cards are also more situational when comapred to the more generic used by Alexis. Yuzu is petty spot n and makes sense why you gave her 3rd. Her bosses were better and has some good main deck options, but as you said it needs to get to her startegy. Honestly anime wise her startegy was good on the fusion side and decent skill as well, but due to her short anime dules due to being cut from dueling in Season 2 onwards she does have a lack of knowledge and some earlier scenarios not being "the best" (mishaps while learnig to Fusion Summon and her loss to Dennis) but at least she had the potential and like Aoi more cards to be added for her if she kept going as a duelist later in the anime. Tea's ranking here is the more fitting when compared to her anime wise. Low skill, low knowledge; I give her credit by making a good enough deck by guessing and based on what she saw her friends use for the time which included MST, Mirror Force, Offerings, Mirro Force (and the banned Pot of Greedy and Graceful Charity) but even then she really has no game winning plan besides somehow getting rid off cards the opponent control and swing with DMG or Maha Vallo as beatsticks. It made sense she had her best perfomace against Akiza,the one among them here with more difficulty keeping field presence (one Synchro or two or more low atatcks cards). She may have never loss but, you know, Joey loss cause he didnt know how to play early on, Mai could've won but gave her the win due to chaarcter development and the penguin I consider part cause he sucked at deck picking and part more of Dark Magician Girl guiding her plays. Mind you, Tea is not worse duelist regardless even among the girls (Kotori is). Also, I guess Rio /Merag nor Anna didn't have enough cards IRL to make it here (uneless they count to the secondary female category) BTW, among the five, here is how I rank them based on the anime as duelists: 1. Aoi (best overall in all categories). 2. Akiza (needed better extra deck). 3. Yuzu (one of the better FL decks, but the lesser development as duelist hampers her of being higher). 4. Alexis (her anime deck really hurts). 5. Tea (one of the weaker duelists, almost bottom, only saving grace are the staples she used and at least knowing the basics of how to play).

I'm sure 100% that this is the evil that manifested in Atem's Uncle, Seto's dad corrupting the Rod with the evil spirit which was the reason why the battle broke out between his uncle and Atem who was trying to de throne him to get SETO to be pharaoh.

I’m still saying that Zarc is the strongest final boss along with Don Thousand and Ai are the 3 strongest final bosses in all of Yugioh.

I like how the Manga gave more of a reason for him turning evil and hating Atem than the anime...or at least the English dub I haven't watched the subbed anime.

When Shadi said that it was the spirit of the pharaoh that killed Marik's dad, I was like what if Yami Marik is some kind of evil version of Atem/split personality. I like your theory more though.

Manga is kinda more canon rlly, the anime obviously had 4Kids wanting to sanitize it more for the young Western audiences...

Bandit Keith isn't even a good portrayal of white Americans much less Americans as a whole. Look at his personality, the character/ personality traits/ stereotypes that they decided to stick on to him

For some reason Yami Marik was a more interesting and much scarier villain than Yami Bakura. Manga version was straight up diabolical.

You missed a very important part of the story. Shadi saying the soul of the pharaoh killed Marik's dad. But Atem wasn't the only Pharaoh. Seto was also a Pharaoh. The same Seto that had a connection with the millenium Rod. The same Seto that would logically know the secret litany of Ra. The same Seto who was once corrupted by Zorc and let darkness go to his heart due to the death of his love. That's what Yami Marik is. The fragment of Priest Seto's soul infused with Zorc's soul. Notice that the three items that are "weak to evil" are the ones worn by people corrupted by Zorc. Bakura, Akhenaden and Seto.

If only there were more good female duelists in the anime. You have like 1 good girl per season and 10 broken guys a season

For those wondering why Amon didn't comeback where as everyone else did is cause yubel had judai's friends held up in another dimension using them as hostages where as yubel straight up kills amon for the way he went about agenda. As far as ryo goes i think the writers intended on killing him off in season 3 but for whatever reason at the last minute decided to bring him back as a cripple.

His deck is a duality of Pegasuses personality, the toons represent the fun side where he used to enjoy painting, spending time with his wife and creating games for the world to enjoy an aspect of his personality which he desperately clings on as it is a reminder of the one time his life was full of brightness and colour and then you have the thousand eyes cards which represent Pegasuses descent into darkness with his use of shadow magic and ruthless nature as a business man and doing any dirty act if it means bringing his deceased wife back to life. A character that you can’t really hate.

I think the “1,000 years” gives us more of a view into his origins than we may initially think. We know that Atem’s spirit is from over 3,000 years old. But you know what has been happening for 1,000 years? As Marik says in the manga, his family has been tasked with guarding that tomb for 1,000 years. I think Yami Marik is obviously born from Marik’s madness coupled with the evil influence of the millennium rod-but I don’t think we can overlook that his true origin probably was built up from 1,000 years of resentment from those tasked with protecting the tomb.

Honestly, I legit feel bad for the guy. Prior to losing to Pegasus nothing suggests he was anything other than a really good duelist, only for him to get humiliated by Pegasus, who not only cheated during the duel but also went out of his way to make Kieth look like a clown, even though it's very likely he'd have beaten Pegasus if it weren't for his Millenium Eye. Sure he cheats later, but considering almost everyone else is already cheating anyway and Pegasus has likely been cheating his entire career, it's hard not to understand his logic. Hell the only guy during the Duelist Kingdom finals who wasn't cheating his ass off at some point was Joey.

i wish in the og duel monster anime for a filler episode before yuji and joey's duel we see pegasus agreed to duel keith and have that be a shadow game
