This man was one of our national treasures that few know about, he did what many of us only dream for and never do. The beauty of nature with this man of peace with a work ethic of three men in quiet solitude just overwhelmed me the first time I watched his films. Thank you this is a very good compilation of his work.

It’s a masterpiece. Cleaning the images was great. Facts added distract from Dick’s filming though, can’t listen to narration about topic 1 while reading caption about topic 2.

Dick travelled all over the north and visited all kinds of communities he had airplane deliveries three times a week, far from living in solitude for 30 years.

It would be fascinating to know what Dick's fitness measurements were. If he hiked 3,000 miles a year, we're talking over 8 miles per day, every single day. That massive amount of exercise, the fresh air, his diet, etc., it must have created an incredible physiology.

Can we please stop this myth that Dick lived at his cabin for 30 years straight. He did not, He left it quite often. Once he and his brother bought a plane so that they no longer had to rely on others. Dick was flying the plane out to visit his brother in California (which he did often, the visiting I mean) and crashed by the highway. He was rescued and ended up recovering for 2 years in Cali. If I remember right, he may have spent just over 15 years actually living at Twin Lakes over those 30 years. All this information is available in his journals, which Proenneke buffs should find and read!

I first became familiar with Dick Proenneke’s life through the book, “One Man’s Wilderness”, by Sam Keith, during the 1970’s while I was living in Alaska. First in Sitka and later in Soldotna. Over all the passing years I continue to be in awe of Dick Proenneke’s story. Thank you

I Was Surprised in The Docu. To See Dick Had a .357 pistol(Probably More For Sound..)2 Scare off a More Agressive bear. I Asked him if he Thought The .44 Was Enough To Stop a Brown bear..And in His Dry Humor He Said,"Pistol?" I Said "Yessir!" He Smiled& Said,"Better Save The Last Round..Fer Yerself!" Ha...(I Took That To He❤️rt..And Carried my 12ga.with Slugs! Dick Was At The Alsworths 'The Farm' Plowing For a crop of potatoes,When we met in 1991,I Think it was.. The Alsworth's Were a Fine Family & I Helped build Their Cabins..And Foundation For The Lodge. After Work Sometimes I'd Go Back to cabins with my Trumpet(One Time one of The Lovely Alsworth girl's(Menda), asked me If I'd Play For Them? I Remember Answering her.."Well..I'll PLAY For THE L O R D..AND Your Welcome To Listen..if You'd Like!";-) I Truely Fell IN LOVE With ALASKA!! WANTED Badly To Raise a Family Up Thar!! Unfortunately My Other Boss had a little Misunderstanding And I Was 'Ousted' before I Got To Finish Building The Lodge!:-( But I Will Always Cherish The Memories Of Port Alsworth & The Lovely Families I Broke Bread With! If You Ever Get The Opportunity To Go To Ak...Do Yourself a Favor& Book A Fishing/Hunting..Or Photo Op With 'Alaskan Adventures '..Meet These Beautiful People& Say Hi..For Me!!? Kevin cox;-) ❤ Thanks Many 🙌 BLESSINGS!

The natives of Alaska and the 1st Nation of Northern Territories were also living a much simpler better way of life long long ago... Dick had a natural connection to nature. People are meant to be in nature period.. we are not designed to live in concrete cities NO cities should have ever been built. Everything should have been part of nature, in tune with nature and blending in with nature. Our vibrations are in tune with nature and the Natural world
