ELGRAND E52 REVIEW 1 YEAR OWNERSHIP. What's it like to live life Elgrand?
Просмотров 11 тыс.11 месяцев назад
An overview of the Elgrand E52. After 1 year owning this awesome people mover I will share my views and impressions. I wish to help everyone who owns or wishes to own their slice of life Elgrand.
Excellent Video and explanation as ive just bought my first Elgrand so knowing where things are makes life easier. Well done sir.
Awesome video 🫡 may I ask if it lacks power when the vehicle have 7 passengers and going uphill? TIA ☺️
It definitely lacks power up hill fully loaded. The 3.5 lt v6 model would be much better then my 2.4 Lt 4 cylinder engine up hill
@@LifeElgrand thank you so much for your reply 🫡 I will look for V6 version of it. Thank you again
Great video man. Thanks for this. Who is your go to place to get parts etc? Looking to get my suspension kit done for the same 2010 E52. Any help would be appreciated :)
Thanks mate. One place in Melbourne I've found helpful is called [Sterling parts] they have some important e52 bits listed on the website. However suspension parts are not listed here, I'm not sure where would be best for those. Happy motoring!
Great video! Just wondering can you put child seats in the third row?
I believe it is possible, but not a clip in and out situation. Some permanent modifications need to be done to fit them. Mine has no fixing points for 3rd row.
@@LifeElgrand no worries thanks for replying
Hi I have Mitsubishi Shogun mk4(Pajero) but need something bigger to transport garden ornaments every weekend. I was thinking about van or Nissan Elgrand. Can you take seats out and use it as a van?
This model elgrand does not have the option to remove the seats. It can be done but not just an easy job, it requires tools and time. The e51 elgrand is best for this as the rear seats can be removed much easier.
Hy mate if u can you know how to install cruise control elgrand e52
I am sorry mate I don't know how to install that. If I ever do it I would definitely make a video for you! 👍
I am sorry mate I don't know how to install that. If I ever do it I would definitely make a video for you! 👍
Hi mate. I wanted to know if the car burns engine oil quite often. Im looking to buy one (same spec as yours) but in 2 minds due to a bad experience with a honda stepwagon. I used to top up 1L of oil every 500/600 miles and want to avoid it.
I personally have not had any oil burning issues. However another person did leave a comment on the review video I did saying that the 4 cylinder engine has got a tendency to burn oil. 🤷 I think it all depends on how the vehicle has been kept over the years. These cars are all getting older and there will be issues of some sort on every elgrand. It all depends on how much you enjoy the car, then no matter what happens you will have a smile on your face 😊 good luck choosing a good one!
Hey mate have you done the transmission filter snd fluid change by any chance? Also does your elgrand struggle when you go uphill? We live in the southern highlands in NSW and when on the highway coming back home from Sydney i can feel the car loses power on elevated areas.
The transmission oil and filter was done when I purchased it about 18 months ago, I don't know how it's done sorry. Do you have the v6 engine or the 2.4 like mine?
@@LifeElgrand mate i dont know what engine is, i purchased it privately. It looks exactly like yours though. How to find out what sort engine it is?
Hey im looking to get a pe52 myself and im in Victoria aswell (south east) how much would the insurance roughly be? ( i know pe52 is different and location is a big factor but a ball park figure would be nice)
Im in the western suburbs of Melbourne, using the car every day. It's with Shannon's insurance. $1500 a year, full comp, agreed value is $24000
Thanks Alot - if you ever see a back Autech Rider on the roads of Victoria, Ill sure to give you a cheerio@@LifeElgrand
Hi awesome video just wondering what the code for the oil filter was? Thank you.
The ryco brand one is a Z436. however this is the 4 cylinder version, the v6 version is probably different. I don't know what part that is mate. Hope that helps 🙏
How much did you pay for it?
yeah nice mate
What a great step by step explanation.
hi alex.ive seen some of ur very informative mechanic videos ..real good to see.. could u put pics of fuse box covers on here ..mine are japanese ..i need english here in nova scotia ,canada..thanks buddy ..keep the vids comming too.
So glad to hear you are enjoying the videos. My elgrand is a full import from Japan too. Everything is in Japanese and I have the same fuse cover too. Sorry I can't help. 👍
Can you sleep in the back?
Great video once we eventually got past the 3.40 minute intro 😌
If you are after a van sized car the E52 is not for you. I have both E51 & E52. As a people carrier the E51 is much more versatile and the additional head room makes it a much better day out vehicle. For me the only advantage of the E52 over the E51 is the driving dynamics, its generally just more modern. If I had to have only 1 it would definitely be the E51.
That answered my question. Thank you. I have an E51 and was looking to upgrade due to age of vehicle 2004 but I’m finding the newer models are just not impressing me.
@@mariehodgeman6563 Toyota alphard/ vellfire is a good slightly newer/later alternative to the E51.
Hey mate, thanks for the video. Have been loving my E52. Just want to share that I have the V6 3.7L engine and am averaging 8L per 100km on U98 fuel with 4 kids and suburban driving. Just purchased myself an Oztrail 15L Console Fridge/Freezer to see if I can upgrade the centre console. Happy driving.
Just want to say great video. I still deciding if i should go for (Estima or E52). I understand the car also has a (Eco mode button) function. Just want to know what your feedback on this. Many thanks
do the seats in the back turn like the E51
No spinning the seats in the e52
Dont know if i agree that the 4 cyl is the better choice over the 3.5l. I have worked on the 4cyl nissan lump in Xtrails and Dualis/quasquai and they are notorious for burning oil and coolant/head gaskets. If you are doing low kms might be better to take the hit on fuel costs in the long run.
i have the 3.5 v6 dont race it and its not as bad as expected on fuel
Hey Mate, how did you get the infotainment from Japanese to English? I couldn't find it in the settings on my E52
The dealership I bought it from did it before they delivered it. Its some kind of system re-flash, not done in the menu screen.
Great video! Thanks for making.
Im so glad you found it helpful!
Sounds like a quiet car? Is it quiet even on bumpy roads and on acceleration? I have an e51. Very very noisy inside. The e51 has a lot of road noise...
It's fairly good by modern standards for a van. There is alot of sound deadening in the e52. I haven't been in an e51 for a drive so I don't have that to compare with. I can tell you it's alot quieter than a VW van of the same era
I have a 2015 nissan quest platinum... Im in florida and they dont sell these vans in the USA anymore. I would love to see them sell that vehicle here..
Great video thx. I’ve got a 2010 Riders e52 but 3.5L. Do you know how I can operate the dvd up above? I don’t know how to open/operate it. Any help would be much appreciated. Cheers.
I think there would be a remote control for the rear screen units. It may be hiding some place in the car, look in the back pockets on the front seats. Mine does not have any rear screens so I don't know the answer sorry 😐

Love it. I find any excuse to take mine for a drive
Hello. Very very good video thank you. Do you have any issue with the transmission so far? Thanks in advance.
I've had no issues so far.
@@LifeElgrand Thank you
I liked your review just wondering if you've had any issues with the cvt? Whats the mileage on yours
No issues with the cvt since owning it. The car has 152000km. I've done 23000km in the time I've owned it.
How much did you pay for it?
I own one of this, unfortuntly no spare tyer , thumb down
Great video thanks. I am currently looking into this van for my family. Got a couple of questions. Do you reckon 2.5l has enough power to drive? does it have a spare wheel/tyre?
No spare wheel, just a repair kit and air pump that works on the 12v socket in front or back of the car. As for power, the 2.5 is enough. I would say if you plan on driving it fully loaded all the time the 3.5 would probably be better, however the petrol cost will be substantially higher, also you need to run the 3.5 on 98 octane fuel and we all know that costs more too. It just depends what is important to you as the diver/owner.
if u dont thrash it the v6 really isnt that bad on juice, rum mine on e10 no dramas@@LifeElgrand
Just wondering is your stereo in Japanese and can you convert it to English?
Mine has been converted to English. The car dealer did this before handing it over to me. The process is not hard but I couldn't tell you how it's done. There some videos on RUclips that do explain it.
Have you found how to do it?

Love my E52 VIP , Fell over backwards when I found out cruise control is not factory standard although can be fitted using OEM steering wheel controls
VIP version is very nice! Do you you find that you use the heated seats often?
@@LifeElgrand i do indeed
So you're saying if I get the OEM steering wheel controls, then I'll be able to use cruise control? Because I have the standard steering wheel no buttons at all.
Seriously this is a great review and tackles all my questions. Your natural at this, good one.
I really appreciate your feedback. Enjoy!
Great video - i am in victoria too and considering one just like yours (the 2.5L E52). Love to know what insurance is like on it?
Glad you enjoyed it! The insurance company is Shannon's, probably the best for cars like this. $1380 a year, full comp and agreed value of $24k.
be weary 4 cyl is very slow revs like crazy
Amazing video mate, looking forward to to your future videos as i am thinking of purchasing an E52 next week!
Really appreciate you letting me know that! Remember to share and subscribe mate! Let's grow this elgrand content! 👍
