I'm an old man now,but my sister got me to beloved Hawaii for a month when I was 20. The spirit will dwell in my heart forever. I smoked strong pakalolo with Iz,and had a transcendant musical experience when he performed "Wahine Ilikea". No place or people in the world like Hawaii ❤️.
Ka Ipo Lei Manu expressed grief at losing love. It is haunting. And the uncles are awesome - Kupuna Gabbys voice is incomparable. Today is Kapi’olani(s) la hanau. Aloha no ke alii. Aloha no Kupuna Gabby PAHINUI.
Best ever

Legendary song, man
How i love and caress my cd with this song as the one of the most emotionally hitting - sheer relaxation. Virtuoso multi guitar play .. rythm...percussion. May this live on forever in Hawain culture..
Just heard this on a used vinyl copy of The Gabby Pahinui Hawaiian Band Vol. 1. Wow wow wow! Perfect song perfect vocals perfect guitar perfect percussion.
This is the soundtrack of Hawai'i. Close your eyes, and you're there.

Da Pahinui funk…
Beautiful Hawaiians Nobody can sing like Kupuna Gabby Pahinui An era gone by
Wonderful..
🤙🏾Mahalo nui....
This is a beautiful video. I first came to Hawaii 1 year after Gabby passed. I went to the first Gabby Pahinui Slack Key Guitar festival at Mc Coy pavilion. Met Sonny Chillingworth in SF through Saichi Kawahara, but most of the others were already gone when I got to Honolulu. The setting is so beautiful. And it's beautifully filmed. Ipo Lei Manu is one of the beautiful songs written by the 4 Royals: Queen Kahamanu wrote it for King Kalakaua as he left for SF. He died there and so never got to hear it. Didn't recognize cyril.
Respect to all the PAHINUIS, what joy they brought, bring, and will continue to bring as long as we have ears to hear. Special thanks to Uncle Bla for his love and generosity to all he encountered. ~ Jimbo
17 people need one slap🤙🏽
So powerful
Good memories growing up on Oahu and Lana'i listening to Uncle Gabby and the da family. A simpler time in this world. 70's da best!
ALOHA❤️ 2020
Such awesome music. Love Gabby! Fantastic.
Gyönyörű!
❤️
Awesome
I played this song at KGU, Honolulu in 74, and 45-years later, I'm still playing it at home. Gabby' & Sonny's vocals are haunting, and Cyril, Bla, Joe Gang, Atta, Randy and Ry's musicianship is phoenominal. The final jam, is hypnotic!! This is "old-school" Hawaiian-music at it's best. Really listen !!
hi Mark, sharing love for this song..pls let me know what key this gemmm is .. thnks .
@@roomens8356 Sorry, but I don’t read or understand music, but I know good music when I hear it. I heard Gabby didn’t read music either. Just came from his soul!
70's Hawaiian music is definitely one of the golden era's of music period. Stars aligned and what a gift.
One of the first of "the Hawaiian thing" brudda Paint Poepoe turned me on to and I've never changed the style of playing. THANK YOU Poepoe, you're always playing when I'm with my tiki! Mo'omomi was one of the saddest days but the w whales breaching was AWESOME!
Who lives in the house now, Bla, Cyril? Is it still in the family? I hope so.
...and Tiny Malaikini
We need more music like this in the islands. Please everyone play music for hawaii. This kind of music should play in the streets as canned music in waikiki. And the airport. It will make people peaceful. I miss the old hawaii.
Remember walking thru Woolworths in Honolulu in 1978 and this was playing. Went to the counter, bought it (vinyl) brought it home (Orange Cali). Still have it today. Good memories. Wishing I was young again and do it a second time. One of the best times of my life. Thanks Gabby.
This song remind me of my father is come from Royal blood and make me crying.
Fred Jack what exactly is royal blood? Is it better than normal blood?
I really love Hawaiian songs .
