never lure fished before just bought a dropshot rod where should i go on the tees im member of yarm ac live 2 mins from a66 flyover also what lures any advice would be helpfull
Well done pal
Great fish Paul. Fished the Wear for the first time recently. Didn't find chub like that. Well done.
A bit off topic but im looking at trying the tees for the pike this winter, are they spread out through the free stretches or would i be best off joining a club?
Nice chub Paul. They’ve been hard to locate so far this season. It’s worrying. Hoping to find some now it’s cooling down.
@@mattwhite1576Thank was hard work ,Seeing more and more otters and cormorants on the Tees not good. Hope tees doesn't end up like Wear and Browney where Chub, barbel and other species have been destroyed by predators.
Any good fly fishing here. If so do you fish nymphs or drys. Thanks mate
Well made video-congratulations. I live in North Wales but I fish when I can for salmon and sea trout near Durham. I believe there are big barbel there, too but I've not heard of chub. I've never caught or even seen a chub or barbel-we don't have any near here. I think I might have a go now I've seen how you do it !
Like he's going to tell you where he's at lmao 🤣
Had a tough session on the browney for chub Monday gone i tried about 5 or 6 really good swims with cheesepaste and liquidised bread even baited up a few spots too try on the way back. Didn't get as much as a single sniff off anything, the otters must doing some real damage which is a shame.
Yes every Wear angler says the same, keep persevering you may hit lucky. Ferryhill has a small stretch at catterick on the Swale access just past racecourse and as you hit village. I fish opposite side and there's a good head of chub, grayling and trout in that area maybe try there is your looking to catch chub using same method you are using.
@@paulfinlay yeah I've yet too try the swale at Catterick need too get round too that at some point, I walked down newfield the other week and a angler had a 3lb chub out on maggot so they are still there just very sparse I think, thanks for the heads up 👍
@@seanclarey983well that's a good sign not finished newfield for sometime. Mobile approach and fishing 20 to 30 mins a swim covering lots of water is the right approach just keep at it as we get into the closing week of the season it tends to improve.
That’s my nan at the beginning‼️‼️‼️ her names sheila and she’s the fucking best everyone appreciate my nan
Which lady?, I watched this when it first aired and I still watch it regularly.
Is this part off the browney part off ferryhill angling club I'm joining the club next week and looking too do a bit of grayling and chub fishing and don't really know where too start 😅
Hi Sean, Yes it's part of ferryhill water. Sadly the chub had vanished from the Browney last one I had was 2019 due to predation also Wear numbers have drastically declined on the Wear get the odd one but need to cover lots of water. As for grayling I stopped fishing for them but have seen grayling on the page bank stretch this are is hard walking and you'll need to travel light if you intend trotting worm and maggots when Rivers eventually become low and clear hope this helps. Regards Paul
@@paulfinlay yeah it's the same at bishop auckland town water stretch, I was out with the centerpin and didn't have a sniff, there's a family off otters up there and gooseanders, there used too be a few big barbel but haven't seen them at the batts pool in years. Never mind I'll give pagebank stretch ago sometime this week depending on weather forecast/river 👍
@@seanclarey983 Well good luck I still fish these areas occasionally hopefully finding some specimen chub like the Wear had.
Hi paul, I'm going abit off topic here but do you know much about the tilery pond that ferryhill angling club own I had a walk around it but don't know an awful lot about the place and thanks for the heads up about the pagebank stretch it is awkward to walk but ended up with 2 nice grayling and a few small ones trotting biggest went 1lb 6oz 👍
@@seanclarey983 Hi Sean, yes no it well fished it when ferryhill first got it. Holds roach, ide, bream and carp some to double figures. Maggots, meat and corn worked for me on a bed of hemp . I believe there's F1,s also been stocked. Maybe slow this time of year if you targeting carp but improves when temperatures rise hope this helps you.
Looks great Paul which part of the swale are you fishing 🎣
What part of the skerne is this stretch please
What part of the tees is this.
Stunning pike ! Thank you for sharing
That wasn't a bad year paul, well done
Hopefully even a better 2024 just need the extra ordinary rain we've had throughout December to stop.
Beautiful
Are these chub catchable on lures?
Hi i am John,im new to area any pointers as to how i can start doing some fishin as a beginner in the wear river please, thanks
Paul are u fishing ATDAC water at Sockburn?
I'm in this at the end I remember getting off the school bus and thinking what the hells going on
Ace video and great looking fish! Where on the Swale was this? I love near the Swale but don’t recognise this stretch.
What a cracking fish 🎣👏
Great video Paul and cracking trout
Nice pike Paul, where on the tees was that mate? 🐊
Lovely fish 👏🎣
Stunning chub indeed. Very enjoyable vlog
Great video Paul
I've had a few decent bream out of there but no scales, didn't realise they were that big 👍
I recently caught a 7.2lb Chub from the tiny River Uck in East Sussex. When netting it I couldn't believe my eyes because the thing was so dam large but yet the river was so dam small.
Yes that's a huge specimen from a small river I think they'll be fish that size in tees as I've had them to 6lbs 4oz.
Bet that bream was a surprise!? Nice fish
@@paulfinlay Yes it was a monster. The River Uck is a spring fed river leading the Sussex River Ouse and it's hardly fished. The water quality is great. It cuts through woodlands / farms and maybe that's why the fish was so large because the river is tiny.
@@adamchumbleyfishinimpossibleyes it was Adam especially that size have had the smaller from Tees nice to see.👍
Good on ya mate been out 3 seasons on tees its been v slow (lower tees)
Wow! Where is it? up to M'bro?
Owd kelt.. you thought that fought hard hook into a fresh fish and you’ll soon know what a hard fighter is… fair play returning it as some people wouldn’t realise it’d spawned out in December and was returning back to sea! 👍💯
Yes check out Swale video had fresh run 17 lbs 8oz fresh run salmon had many over the years all fish I get now are returned. Regards Paul 👍
Iam a member of a club and Atdac he got me beat where he is
Good video Paul, I like the underwater shots 👍🏻
Thanks , rivers all rising so hopefully fishing will improve once rivers return to normal we needed it. Hope you're having some success this season. Thight line's Paul.👍
@@paulfinlay had a few good sessions and a couple of poor ones, but that’s the Tees for you. Hopefully this rain will give it a boost.
@@mattwhite1576 yes it will I'm sure good luck 🤞
Good to see you back out mate
Heard anything of any any barbel chub showing? Been dead since the beginning of the season.
Should have waded out to the fast water to release it, get some oxygen I to its gills.
What a specimen.
Hi mate been trying for years for a salmon out the swale please can you give me some tips on how you caught this I’m local to catterick but have a hell of a lot of permission from Northallerton to topcliffe any pointers in right direction would be greatly appreciated
Its a Salmon kelt, a bit of a precious fish these days.
Loved the Swale, used to have Ferryhills and the old Leeds water to myself at Catterick for years, havent been for a long time, what clubs are you in Paul Northallerton?
Amazing Paul, well done
Any reports of barbel and chub lately on the Chester park stretch any information appreciated 👍.
Hi Paul, As for barbel not heard of any coming out of Wear and not had one myself since 2007 they seem to banish once otter's turned up. As for Chub they are still there not in great numbers where I fish but still hanging on. Mobile approach works for me covering as much water and features as I can. Regards Paul.
@@paulfinlay Thanks mate appreciate it.
Been trying to find out if any decent barbel and chub has been out at Chester can I hell get any information.
Love the videos Paul. What's the best club to join for chub fishing the Tees?
What a cracker and what a fight m8. Pity you couldn't of brought that 1 home m8
Not everyone kills them thank goodness.
Big well done for landing that, looked like an amazing scrap.
Hi Paul, did you skip over a fence at the point the camera cuts out. I had a look down last week but the walk stopped abruptly and went back towards croft
Any reports of barbel and chub being caught at Chester park stretch in 2022. Cheers.
Is it possible to tell me Where on the river wear his is? As I’ve wanted to fish the river for awhile and get my first chub and others like trout and such, I’m near Chester le street I’ve heard near here is good but not 100%
Hi Alex I've had Chub throughout the Rivers Wear from bishop Auckland area down to Chester Le Street when clubs had those waters. Excellent trout, grayling, sea trout and salmon to be caught around bishop angling club water but membership is very expensive . 👍
