Why Union Jack Is Offensive?
Просмотров 2,1 тыс.18 дней назад
what do you think of when you see the Union Jack? Or is it actually an offensive symbol? And if the latter one is true then Why is the Union Jack so Offensive? Maybe the first thing that comes to your mind after seeing it is the existence of the far-right, racism, colonialism, and an old, always invading monarchy. On the other hand you may feel a whole range of patriotism and national pride or ...

And if these nations are four different sovereign states then how, why and when did they come together to become the UK? 📌Thanks for Watching: History Behind the FOUR NATIONS of the United Kingdom 0:00 Intro 0:53 The Kingdom of England is Born 1:58 Wales Becomes Pa...
As an American, a lot of the British accents just sound like speech impediments. It’s nice that you’re proud of your local accent, but we can’t understand you.
It's amazing how much of this video is inaccurate bollocks.
Didn't even cover Black country or Midland English. You'll hardly ever find a Cockney in London, they've almost all been displaced outside of the sound of Bow bells now.
Its not british English its just English!!!!!
SPAIN has no business to be running its govt in Americas to begin with. IT was illegal for them to do so. They should pay fine for it
Interesting take on history! What are your thoughts on other European countries that also expanded their influence in the Americas during the 16th and 17th centuries? Should they be held accountable too, or do you believe this applies only to Spain?”
Norn' Irn flag planted somewhere in Offaly or thereabouts ? No - political geography a bit off there ...
Brilliant !
First ever
Land of hope and glory is what i hear when i see the union jack
That’s what I’m saying
Union Jack is offensive, because it has no red dragon :D
Assuming that you are asking a question, then no, the British flag isn't offensive. Anyone that think it is must be well balanced by having a chip on both shoulders. Further, if that flag is considered offensive, then so must every other Nations flags be. Take the plank out of your own eye so that you can more easily remove the splinter from someone elses perhaps.
It's a flag and if it offensive to you then the term anglo saxon is probably offensive to you and if that the case your just racist towards white poeple and specifically English at that rate I am surely aloud to start saying the black African american decent word simples
Britain did not start or invent slavery, but it was the first to end it. the British Royal Navy ended the north Atlantic slave trade in 1807. America didn't end slavery until 1865.
England ended slavery in the 12th Century
far right? how the heck would it be that? oh, i forgot, not worshiping the globalization is already far right...
As someone from a former British colony - no, it isn't.
What a bag of shite,USA never invaded anyone did they, nor did Spain,France,Portugal etc?
Wonder who made this video….. Britain ended the slave trade, Britain boosted the countries it colonized….. I mean look at Africa and India now since we’ve left? They’re broken
it's not offensive, it represents the best, most glorious country in history. Your full of shit!
You make a whole video on the union flag, then use the wrong one instantly. The one shown at 0:06 seconds is from the 18th century ffs.
If it offends you, good 🤣🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
There is no problem with the Union Flag, the problem lies with the whiny Gaurdinistas and Loony Lefties.
This whole video is false and made just to shit on the British. The Africans and the Portuguese started the slave trade. If Africans weren’t selling there own people by force to the Arabians and later the Portuguese then it wouldn’t have happened. The English flag is used by the far right not the union flag. Idiots. The national front was defeated by Farage. Farage ended it as he believed it was genuinely racist by becoming a force in ukip. Idiots
its not the jack as its not on a ship, its generally shocks me how so many people don't know this, a jack is hung on a jackstaff which is on a ship... also we didn't start the slave trade? the portugease did... and how can the flag be "offensive" if its associated to the empire, how is that different to any other country? France, spain, portugal, germany, russia, italy and even the US? its not really fair to say an entire person's culture is offensive and wrong, if you say that to us then how is that different to someone who bars you from your culture in a place like africa?
That's a common misconception. Whilst it does have naval origins, the name 'Union Jack' predates the term jackstaff by 150 years and since 1908, can be used to officially refer to the national flag.
It shocks me that 123 years after it was changed, there's still people like you saying "It's only a Union Jack if flown from the Jackstaff of a ship"
When I see this flag i think of Britain. I don't really care about Western politics and stuff that happened 70 yrs ago.
So much of this video is factually incorrect.
Its the flag of the nation that ended slavery ... for everybody. But you modern types prefer tick tock for your history lessons instead of ya know..... documented history.
Stupid ass video
Ha ha Britain didn’t start slavery. What a load of bs
So Britain started slavery?
Yeah slavery existed before Britain was a thing
As an American, I feel the same about the American flag. History matters.
wow... America has been a force for good... delusional idiot.
🇬🇧
what the hell is this garbage channel? Why did I end up here?
The Welsh dragon flag has only been around since the 50s. Before that, rightly or wrongly, Wales was represented by the Cross of Saint George as part of England.
The current Welsh flag is from the 50s but it's roots are from the colours and symbols of the Tudors and Henry VII in the 15th century
Sadiq khan is that you
Its not offensive - saved u 10 mins
Thankyou, it's soulless content. Like AI with the intellect of a BBC Radio 1 presenter.
Depends who you are
Thanks . Appreciated .
Nice video
Its a flag that we use to represent us as a country. It really isn't that deep, and no its not racist or offensive. Lets not let these warped individuals force their own disgusting ideology of "history bad" on everything please.
Oh so it was the British that started the slave trade to america from the US was it? The Portuguese were the first European nation to transport slaves across the Atlantic Ocean in the 16th century. And if you think Amiter Massicer is the worst dear go you are talking twadddle. The Dutch and Belgums were so much better. Is this made a a Russian blogger as its just full of rubbish.
Wales and Cornwall were a refuge for the fleeing Britons from what’s now England.
For future reference, please check a map before putting the Ulster flag over 120 miles south of where you eloquently and ignorantly planting it in the centre of the Republic of Ireland. Don't worry as im not upset, as you are, after all American, hence your knowledge of geography and history stops at the border of New Mexico and historically gettysburg!! At a stretch. Typical American grifter looking to make £50 dollars on RUclips 🎉😂😂
I Favor the uk becoming the UR United Republic of Great Britain with Republic of England 🏴 Republic of Wales 🏴 & Republic of Scotland 🏴, while Northern Ireland is reunited with Ireland to form The United Republic of Ireland 🇮🇪 or The United Irish Republic somewhere in the near Future
such a country will never ever exist, if by some catastrophe the monarchy was the end, there is absolutely no way that the union can survive. republicans in Scotland and Wales will never tolerate union with England, it is monarchists who favour keeping the realm together. Don't believe me, just look at Northern Ireland, Ulster loyalists are also inevitably staunch royalists, whereas republicans in Northern Ireland want to united with Eirie, there is no republican faction in Northern Ireland that also wants to be part of a hypothetical British republic. There are only two options, its either one United Kingdom or the country splits into several republics
@@truetory6231 While the monarchy has historically played a key role in maintaining unity within the UK, isn’t it possible that a more modern form of governance-such as a democratic federal system-could maintain the integrity of the union? With shifting attitudes in Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland, could decentralization and stronger regional autonomy be a better solution than relying on the monarchy to keep the union intact?
@@RiddleCrown democratic federal system? If I recall correctly, the British created federal democratic systems in Canada and Australia without turning them into republics and both have turned out to be very successful. It is possible that it can turn itself into a federation as well but that does not require replacing the King with some "president" But that said however I still stand by my original point, republicans in Scotland and Wales don't want to remain in the union at all. Offering to transform the union into a federation would actually appeal more to monarchists since it is they who have a vested interest in keeping Britain together, republicans on the other hand don't want to stay and dangling federalism in front of them will only embolden thier ambitions for dissolution.
@ alright thank you
Independence for Cymru! 🏴
great video
Thanks!
