    Sir, thank you for your service. We owe you an unpayable debt. Your clarity and eloquence on this subject are needed. What most people don't seem to realize is that we, the American people, are responsible for sending you over there (not the government), and we are responsible for what you did there. You did your job.

  • @wintercook2
    @wintercook2 8 месяцев назад

    First and foremost: Thank you for your service. We civilians owe you a debt that cannot be repaid. I am an anti war civilian who will never understand how anyone can blame the soldiers that WE sent into battle. Can anyone explain to me the thinking of one who would blame the soldier? That's not a rhetorical question. I don't get it. Do they think we don't need a military? Others think it's the government that sends our people to fight where they shouldn't. Government does crazy stuff, but only the crazy stuff that will get them reelected. If the public allows it, they need to know that ignorance does not absolve them of responsibility. If you don't know history, then you condemn us all to repeat it.

    Hello Brother, just caught your interview and your explanations were spot one, thank you. I was one of ten E-5s that were selected to be team leaders out of 173rd Abn. Brig. 1/504th in 1966. After selecting our team members and attending the SF Project Delta Course we operated through 3 Corp. By the way I noticed the wings on your hat...All the Way Brother.

    When I was a young soldier I'm the army now retired 87-09 I served with many Vietnam veterans senior NCO's and some officer's 2 of my BN commanders where battlefield commission dam good men we held them in such high respect and regard. They where easy to talk to after a hard training exercise they would sit and have a beer with us but during training they where all business. Forward to 06 when I got back from Iraq having earned my cib my CSM and my old PLT sgt both Vietnam veterans welcomed me back my calling me brother.

    My father was S.O.G. 198th light infantry brigade on loan to 5th group special forces as he explained to me. They were a 2-6 man team doing exactly what this guy described, except my father watched the Ho Chi Minh trail to report back movement and supplies and lay mines on the trail if they could. My father often spoke of LRRPS as outstanding and had their Shit wired tight. His words not mine. This was a great interview.

    My wife teaches 8th grade English, which sometimes turns political on her for some reason. She can’t overtly say the truth in today’s society, so she’ll play clips for them from the mouths of those who can tell them the truth. She uses clips of videos from things that I listen to all the time, including Tom Chambers, Gary A. Linderer, Nick Brockhausen, etc. The Tom Chambers clips are usually short and right to the point on issues that they feel strongly about today, and it works. I can’t tell you how many eyes she’s opened to the real world by showing them these wise words.

    There was racism on the battlefields of Vietnam. It was them or us. If you were with “us” it didn’t matter what color you were. If you were with “them” it didn’t matter what race, color, nationality or ethnicity you were. You were the enemy and were treated as such. It was kill or be killed and better him than me.

    Thank you Mr. Chambers for your service to this country ! My brother was a LRRP., and never talks about it. I did see that he had several medals a Bronze Star , and DFC . The thing he seemed to be proudest about was his CIB . He was a Sgt. in the 101st. His daughter is Major in the Marines, and a Naval Academy graduate. The only time I heard him say anything about his time in Viet Nam was at the Wall in DC. We must thank anyone that served for their country, and giving us the democracy we are privilaged to enjoy.
