"Zenith" for solo glockenspiel written by Miles Locke
Recorded and performed by JR Alberto

Strange Adaptations (Bass Clarinet & Marimba Duet)
Просмотров 3,6 тыс.8 лет назад
"Strange Adaptations" is a duet for Bass Clarinet and Marimba and is a fun piece for both the performers and audience alike! It is intended to have elements of jazz/blues and was influenced by John Mackey's "Strange Humors" and Nathan Daughtrey's "Adaptation" hence the title. While it is more of a showcase for the bass clarinet, the marimba has its fair share of the limelight. Sheet music avail...

This piece is magestic and as a alto sax it made me realize the beauty of percussion. Thanks
Made by my percussion teacher 😅

Best song ever
That is a big marimba, 5 octaves?
5 octaves!
Thank your and, dear friend
Minä olen luullut, että marimba oli melkein unohdettu soitin, olen joskus Mexicossa käydessäni kuullut heidän soittavan, isäni osasi soittaa marimbaa sekä ksylofonia.
I GOT IT AND IM TAKING IT TO SOLO AND ENSEMBLE THIS YEAR IM SO EXCITED
exceptional... we need glockenspiel solo works more often
Are you selling the sheet music for this? Because I'll by it
How much is the sheet music?
That was unexpected at 0:27 when the gasp came up 😂
👍👍👍
How did you guys split up the voicings between the two of you? Maybe someone plays B1, T1, A1, and S1 while the other plays the 2s?
Just finished learning how to play this piece after 2 weeks, I must say it's my favorite piece I've learned so far :) extremely happy to have it in my repertoire!
Thanks so much for sharing! I’m glad you’ve gotten as much enjoyment from learning and performing it as I had writing it!
Do you still have the score?
Merci bien jeune homme
It sounds absolutely amazing, I’m doing the solo “ghost garden” for solo and ensemble this year and I wasn’t to try this solo next year
Good luck on performing ghost garden! My brother did that piece and it’s one of my favorites
@@isabella.g.gonzalez thank you so much, I actually just finished the entire thing today and I’ve never had a better feeling finishing a solo
@@ryan5282 congrats , wishing you the best of luck at solo and ensemble !! what state will you be competing in ?
@@isabella.g.gonzalezI have solo and ensemble tomorrow and if I get a 1 I will be competing for the state of texas:) Edit: I MADE A 1 AND IM GOING TO STATE
Hey I bought this piece a few months ago and I’ve attempted to play with different types of mallets, but I was wondering what type of mallets you used in this performance.
How long did it take for the music to be sent? I’ve already payed but I havent received the music
@@ryan5282 it took like 2 months but I emailed him back about it and he sent the pdf and the music came in a little after
Ok. This was good 😂
I'm not joking this has been my favorite marimba piece to learn and listen to for years now. This is really what started my passion for Percussion and really made me take it seriously in school and start pursuing music outside of school. This piece is truly amazing and I'll never forget it, 60 years from now I'll be performing this for my grandchildren.
Thanks so much for the kind words! I’m so glad it resonates with you. Thanks for sharing it with the world :)
Do you still have the music?😩
Hey, do you have sheet music available for this or any idea where I could get some? It's really cool!
I sure do. Check out www.mileslocke.com
There is no Utopia... only Paradise.
Love this piece so much, so beautiful! Was wondering how I could purchase the usage rights for this composition/performance for use in a documentary?
awesome...i have never even heard of a glockenspiel before today but it sounds so nice!!!
Thanks! It turned out even cooler than I expected!
So I just played gitano by Alice Gomez, do you think I can play this?
Hi Luke. Definitely! “Gitano” has lots of advanced technical skills that also show up in “Seeking Paradise”. If you can play “Gitano” I definitely think you can play “Seeking Paradise”.
This is beautiful. You’ve done an excellent job incorporating an intricate melody and story into a piece that is accessible for many percussionists. It reminds me, like another commenter said, of Ian Trevino and a bit of Arnor Chu as well. Seeking Paradise is a gem, thank you for sharing it.
Thank you so much for the kind words! I’m so glad people enjoy this composition
Beautiful! Hugs from Mexico.
Rosewood right?
Yes! Marimba One 5-Octave Rosewood
@@mileslocke5713 Thank you! I’ve sent you an email (:
That looks like an expensive glock if you ask me, looks like he has a wooden cover for it.
What mallets did you use?
These are the Nancy Zeltzman NZ3B mallets
I can't believe someone hasn't made a joke about a GLOCK enspiel
I and my friends always call it a Glock. mainly because we like to say that "we smash our giant Glocks" or "hey 'N' can I stroke your g-spot on your massive Glock?"
There is a reason for that...
This piece is pretty okay, I guess!
Thanks for your kind words!
you do not see glock solos. Nice Job
i’ve recently bought this from you and i’m up to the fourth page so far so i’m still working on it, but as i’m listening to it again i just wanna stress how much i love this piece. from the musicality the player can show at the beginning and end sections (and all throughout in-between of course), the octave work that it will provide, the rhythmic attention, and so much more, i wish this was a more well known piece. it probably is my favorite marimba solo and has been for a few months now, and playing it feels as good in the hands as listening to it does.
Thank you so much! Comments like this mean so much to me. I work really hard to not only create music that sounds good but also lays well in the hands and is fun to play. Good luck on your future performances!
This is so sweet
Omg do you still have it??
Do you still have the score?
Kiitos hyvä ystävä, arvostettu muusikkoni, nautin tästä musiikista, kuten sanoin, rakastan marimban pehmeää sointia, jos on oikeasti olemassa paratiisi, makaisin pilven päällä pumpulissa nauttisin sinun marimbamusiikistasi, esimerksi "Claire de Lune.

Would you play a song for me, by the way you play beautiful

OK, so this joins my list of things I don't understand.... how can this have less than 1 million views? Fabulous.
Thanks so much! I agree! Share it with all your friends so we get to 1 million!

Wow!!!
Awesome!
I've been waiting like a year or so to find a video recording of this piece, its so beautiful. THANK YOU
Thanks so much! I’m glad you like it. I’m happy that I could finally get a quality video up for people to reference.
