Apex Downhill Trail on My Freesky Swift Horse
In this video I am riding modified Freesky Swift Horse down the Apex downhill trail in Herriman, Utah for the first time! In a prior video I rode the exact 10+ mile course that I rode today on my Lightcarbon LCE-930. I will be putting together a comparison video between the two for those who might be interested. Please subscribe if you are! I will also be riding my analog Specialized Enduro on the same course soon and will be putting together a comparison video of all three.

This video features a long scenic ride up a trail called Copper Rise. Warning, I am chatty in this one. Trail talk and bike talk mostly. The climb is followed by a decent down Copper Ridge and Sorta Shady. This is just part of the ride I did on this day. I am riding my Lightcarbon LCE-930 with the Bafang M820 motor.

I had the chance to get out and ride my LightCarbon LCE-930/Bafang M820 eMTB today, and it was fantastic. Well, other than a slight mishap leading to me literally biting the dust. Today's footage is the first opportunity I have had to try out my new GoPro, finally achieving video quality and, more importantly, stabilization! I hope you enjoy the video. Replacing the Shifter & Cassette on the Freesky Swift Horse
Просмотров 1726 месяцев назад
As those of you who have watched my upgrade video know, I swapped out the stock cassette on the Swift Horse with a cassette having a 34-tooth 1st gear sprocket. For the trail riding I do, I needed a lower gear on the back to complement the smaller chainring I added earlier. Well, fast forward to today. I had an unfortunate incident where my front tire washed out on a steep downhill turn, which ...

After patiently waiting for the weather to clear, I finally seized the chance to embark on the inaugural journey with my DIY electric mountain bike. With the trails now predominantly clear of snow and mud, it was the perfect moment to put it to the test. This bike was built around the lightweight LightCarbon LCE930 full carbon fiber frame, and powered by the Bafang M820 motor getting its juice ...

The Swift Horse is getting a stable mate. This is part I of my carbon EMTB dream build. The frame is an LCE930 built by LIGHTCARBON. It will be powered by the Bafang M820 light weight 250W 75NM motor and a 43V 410WH battery. I expect this bike to weigh under 20kg (~43lbs) ready to ride.
Freesky Swift Horse Bottom Bracket Bearing Replacement/Upgrade

In this video I walk through the process of replacing the bearings on the bottom bracket of my Freesky Swift Horse with ceramic hybrid bearings. I have not used these bearings before but after some research I learned that for this situation ceramic bearings should hold up better than the steel bearings. I wouldn't be replacing these if it wasn't for the fact that my stock bearings are rough. RJ...

Freesky Swift Horse Suspension & Brake Upgrades
My throttle don’t work anymore
Could you share the détail of the tool used to screw the chainring? thank you!
If anyone wants to increase max throttle speed without having to wait for new controller shipping times just change tire diameter to the smallest size to trick the controller into thinking it's actually going slower then it really is. Your welcome. Your speedo will be inaccurate but just buy a phone holder and use your phones gps.
Kabel durch den Steuersatz. OMG
Hey really need help went into my freesky settings and somehow ended up resetting the password or something now i cant unlock the bike what do i do
Did you ever figure this out? The same thing happened to me
Hello where did you get the frame ??
I changed out the freewheel on mine to a 11 to 48 one, it eliminates alot of the ghost pedaling. Mine after I tweaked it a bit will go 42 mph in pas 5 downhill with a tailwind lol. 38 on a level road.
Do you have a parts build list?
So how do you change the speed at which the controller is limited to? I just want to go 25 under throttle instead of 20mph.
Unfortunately the only way to increase the controller speed limit is to buy the upgraded speed controller from Freesky.
@@sandnap ah ok kinda what i thought. thanks for your reply
Thanks for the nice build videos. Do you know if it is possible to add a front light. Because i think your display accept it. Is there a cable to connect it in the battery ? And in your display ? Thanks
Yw! Yes it is possible and the wiring that came with it has connectors for it.
Tysm ive been looking for this forever
I am glad you found it helpful!
Do you remember how long you cut your steerer? and what frame you have? I pulled the trigger on the frame and looking for some deals on second hand forks
I cut it to 6 3/4" inches and have two 1/2" spacers. The minimum I think you could get away with is 5 3/4" without any spacers.
@@sandnap thank you sir!
TERRIFIC info, thanks!!! a question...for on-road/flat paths-only riding, what ebike would be "best"? this one of yours is TERRIFIC for all-road, for sure 🙂sub'd/liked
Thanks! There are so many good options out there right now. Most everything I have heard about Freesky is good and my experience has been good. Their support is great and they have a wide variety of options. If you don't care about having a rear suspension the Himalaya is a good deal. The Eurostar is also a good deal for a dual suspension. It mostly depends on your budget.
Any issues with law enforcement. Have had my new Warrior up there sure fun.
Nope I haven't. I removed the throttle on it so I could make a case that it is a pedal assist only ebike and I try to be very respectful of others on the trail which I think helps. It is a lot of fun.
@@sandnap Thanks me to. Goal is PED 1 2 if sucking wind. Respect as well. Hope to see you up there.
That is a great video, glad you shared this! Can you comment on how the original bike rattles/noises and how you fixed it? In which PAS were you in this vide?
Thanks! You should check out my upgrades video if you want the full story ruclips.net/video/sdPcSP0PEMg/видео.htmlfeature=shared. In a nutshell I replaced the suspension, both the fork and shock because the stock suspension doesn't have rebound dampening and with the weight of the fat tires, rims, and hub motor the rebound is harsh. Also, the controller rattles around in the aluminum box so I cut some packaging foam to shape and padded it. I also made it so that I can remove the kickstand with a thumb screw when I am riding trails. Those modifications took care of the rattles. Regarding PAS, I was taking it pretty easy on the climb in PAS 2 & 3. I enabled all 9 PAS levels so the assistance is different than stock. Also, I downsized the front chainring and installed a different cassette so the gearing is lower and better for trails.
@@sandnap I just checked your upgrade video, awesome job! Thank you!
Interesting set of videos :), glad that i found them. How was the ordering process and what was the price if i may ask? edit: saw a comment about the cost, but interested in the ordering process still
Thanks! The ordering process was very smooth on Alibaba. The order was complete and arrived in less than a month.
@@sandnapNice! That is surprisingly fast for such a niche product from china
What headset bearings doe the swift horse pro x-6e use
I am not sure what the epro x-6e uses but I suspect that it is the same as the original Swift Horse since they both have a dual crown fork. The stock fork on the original has a 1 1/8" straight tube and the headset is 44mm on the top and 56mm on the bottom and has open bearings. I replaced it with this one amzn.to/3Xyc5iL (this is an affiliate link) and have been very happy with it. The new one supports the straight tube or if you swap forks to a tapered fork it works with that too.
What did you use to decode or debug software and hardware
Someone left a comment that had the access code at one point, I assume they got it from Freesky. Once I had that I just figured out the settings through trial and error.
Tire logo and valve should be in line.
Great video! And the GoPro looks so much better. My dad and I are thinking about building close to the exact bike you built. Coincidentally we also live in Utah!
Thanks! It's a great bike, highly recommended.
Nice build., what was the total cost?
Thanks! The total build was just under $3200 USD.
Great video!! I just received my LCE930 and your videos gonna help me alot during the build-up. Did you encounter any tolerance issue when mounting the shox??I did try mounting the shox and noticed there was bit of play at the bottom mount albeit my shox hardware was 22.2 but the mounting width was 22.8. Bolt was tightened by hand only, I wonder will the "play" be mitigated once I torque it up to spec?
Thanks! I didn't have a problem with the tolerance but I have heard others who have and had to use thin spacers. Here is a conversation related to this: www.emtbforums.com/threads/my-lightcarbon-lce930-build-with-bafang-m820.35012/post-497365. Good luck on your build!
@@sandnap Great, thanks!!
would that gear work on the Maxus motor they install now for the swift horse?
I can't say for sure but I found a couple of 1000W mxus motors and it will work on those models.
check out 4leaf bikes and dengfu bikes
Did you talk about the cost of this build? This would be realy interesting
I haven't done a video specifically about the cost but I get asked about that a lot. I may make a video itemizing the cost of the build. The total cost was $3117.89 USD. A rough breakdown: Frame/Motor/Battery - $1800.73 Fork (2023 Fox 36 Performance, new closeout) - $339.99 Shock (2023 Fox Float X Performance, take-off, like new) - $180.00 Dropper post (EXO 900i) - $73.16 Brake set (IIIPro E4) - $83.32 Rotors & adapters - ~$25 Seat - $25.99 Bars - $19.99 Stem - $9.97 Groupset (SLX) - $127.37 Grips - $11.53 Wheelset (SUNringle Duroc 35) - 262.96 Pedals - $13.63 Tires (Maxxis) - $105.99 Crank arms (152mm) - $37.99
Thanks for sharing that information. Awesome job.
Could you tell me what the sport 34 is in millimeters 180x?....and the dnm is a 165x?....thank you.
The overall length of the dnm is 165mm but the travel is 35mm. This translates into about 80mm of frame travel in the back. The usable travel on the Himalo fork was somewhere near 150-160mm (plenty), my new Manitou front shock is 150mm. More squish in the front than the rear. The tall 4" tires help absorb the bumps too.
did you have to buy the unlocked throttle for 224$ to get the Swifthorse to go top speed with throttleonly? Because on the website it says it locked to the 20mph and to unlock you MUST buy the unlocked controller ... also it says tge Wqrrior is 38mph to 40 Someone also said if you play with the wheel thingy u might get 3 to 5 mmph more?
I didn't buy the unlocked controller because I use my Swift Horse on offroad trails and not as a commuter. I would definitely consider it if I did use it on the road more. I believe you can mess with the wheel size in order to increase the top speed though I have never tried it.
What do you think about the Wallkee H7 AWD for 100$ less with a free helmet & rack bag ? + it already has a rear rack with a 60 ah batterie ? I've seen videos but it seems to max out at 35mph in the display but phone gps says 32mph (51km/h)on almost all reviews 🤷♂️🤔.. my ideal bike i want is to go to 38mph to 40 at least(61km/hr) and stay locked in at that speed... reviews on Freesky website says some people got it to 41 with the unlocked controller ... I need a step through bike because i have problems reaching my legs over going in and out of the bike.. and also to put reach my legs on the ground on a red light but the Freesky warrior has a 27 inch standover height .. im 5"7 so im guessing i can reaxh my feet to the ground when im on a red light but ill be at MAXIMUM height without touching my JEWELS on the frame .. it will lightly craze them .. i measured with a tape measure .. I have to commute to the pharmacy EVERYDAY 7 days a week to get my daily prescription medication and i live in Montreal so i will need to ride in -30 c snowy weather.. the battery on the freesky and wires are hidden i just need to cover the wires in front of the handle bar that are with zip ties more nicely like the Walkee H7AWD .. Except im. Concernd about the cable battery that's exposed on the H7 and all the wires underneath the rear wheel/battery for the snow .. maybe i could put a plastic bag over the battery for that 1 wire uptop , but what about the ones on the bottom... I want more than a 25ah batterie because I'm going to be homeless soon and was going to put a chariot on the baxk of the bike and go from one dumpster to collect bottles and cans and go to the grocery store and cash them in .. so i will be doing alot of going up and down from the bicycle so the stepthrough might be best.. but the Freesky has a lower standover reach so its ok i guess... but id have to go back in forth from the grocery store or to the storage unit to put my bags of cans and bottle when ever i have 1 or 2 full bags and go back to my route to collect cans and bottle .. i dunno if the 25ah batterie will be enough ? Thats why 40mph top speed is ideal ... but the H7 has a hard limit of 35mph on the display but in reality it seems to be 32 on the gps... I was thinking after winter /next summer To start doing deliveries for uber eats or wtv while doing vans and bottles .. will the 25ah batterie be enough .. i think i can get 1hr30 on AWD and maybe switch to rear mode when im doing shorter distances and turning the batterie off when im in a dumpster , to save batterie maybe🤔 And maybe after winter i might have enough $ to buy a 2nd Freesky Baterie so i can get 50ah and just strap it on a rear rack for when the 1st one dies... but that would be an Extra 750$ on their website and it says their out of sotck.. maybe if i call them they might ship one from china for whenever i might have the money and need it in a few months🤔 So basically the Walkee H7AWD is at 2650$ no tax but i havent yet called them to see if they ship to Montreal, the option wont let me on The website / but it has a free helmet, back rack, rack bag, and rear break light all wixh Freesky warrior doesnt have ... while the Warrior is 2750$ 100$ extra without those Perks and id have to buy the controller at the same time for 224 so 335$ more and i think id have to wait for it to ship aswell .. BUT will the 330 extra get me from 32mph to 35mph thhat H7 has to 38mph 40mph for the Warrior ?! Thats the problem... And im already used to 26x4 wheels i never rode 20x4 .. i think that Warrior would be better for winter , but what about all the other Dilemmas ??! Thanks alot Brother i know i wrote a dictionary & broke ur head .. but im really struggling... theres not alot of Freesky warrior videos for me to review .. i hope u have the time to answer me ... And btw i like the Freesky company better/ like that warranty and wtv.. it. Seems the Walkee warranty and return and refund policies are much stricter.. and they just copied and pasted all the same policies on Aniioki.com's website .. im pretty sure their the same owners, they have the same mispelled words and everything ... it seems like if i have a problem the Freesky ppl will help me better i think ... And another PS. Im on welfare and getting only 800$ a month so that 2750 + 224 i would have to borrow it from different family members/ friends and repay my debt about 450$ a month until i pay off the total .. and as of now i havent found the full amount .. i hope by the 1st when i get my chexk i will be able to put 800 from my pocket and the 2200 rest find some people 🤦♂️🤷♂️... but its my last chance investment for me to fix my life and get me off being homeless .. so the i have to make the RIGHT CHOICE betwee. The 2 bikes .. I hope u can help me with my questions buddy .. Nothing but LOVE from here in Montréal.. 🙏❤... have a good day bro 👍💯🙌❤🙏🙏🙏
Forgot to say.. doctors found a hole in my heart in February.. i just turned 39 year old in March.. the February doctors told me i have 3 to 5 years to live .. and the doctor i saw after told me i will be lucky if i have 1 year to live .. the last doctor i saw 3 weeks ago told me " oh i think they're just trying to scare you , for you to come to ur appointments " they STILL havent gave me medicine for that problem .. they found multiple problems that time in February.. Severe High Pressure/ 1 lung like gettin bigger than the other I dont know the word in english / the Shunt in my heart.. told me my feet are going to get swollen 3 times their size and slowly but shorly im going to have a heart attack .. THATS what that doctor toldd me man .. and still no medicine.. i need to do like 4 more tests for them to know what to give me ... its ridiculous.. she said i was on a wating list she cant do nothing more... i remember one test was called MIBI PARSANTE or something like that / one was called nuclear medicine or wtv.. she wants to put something in my leg to go to my heart for them to see wtv like a camera but its called something else... I always take the Elevator when im in the subway when i go to the pharmacy for my medication .. but today i had to walk like 10 steps on the stair .. and I couldnt even. Breathe when i got to the top .. I was breathing heavily and yelling in between breaths while sittimg down and everyone just staring at me .. i felt i was literally going to die from not having oxygen ... it was the 2nd time i felt like that this month... it was so crazy man ... sorry i had to vent a bit .. i dont really have friends to talk to... Every freaking morning when i wake up i have literally to spit for 1 whole hour all those secrecions from my lungs before i even have to start my day ... i finish 3 boxes of Kleenex a day !!! 🤦♂️😪😪😪... im just tired .. and I just sat down and been writing on this small phone keyboard for an hour straight ... im done bro .. have a nice day buddy ... all love thanks for listening 😂😂❤❤🙏🙏
Man I am sorry to hear this! I think it's terrible if doctors are giving you false information in order to get you to go to your appointments 😠. I wish you the best! Hang in their man. 🙏🙏🙏
I can't say a lot about the Wallke H7, this is the first I have heard of it. The reviews seem to be favorable but the customer support seems to be lacking. Freesky has great customer support. My other possible concern is that they don't advertise the brand of the cells they use in their batteries. Off brands come with a fire risk, Freesky uses Samsung which are good. Unfortunately that's the only advice I can come up with since I don't have experience with the Wallke. Best of luck in your decision!
I dunno why the keyboard on the warrior and the alaska are different ? It seems u only have 3 buttons on the warrior? I really want to know how much batterie will the 25ah warriior finish if doing deliveries at this speed 30+ mph on throttle only how much time will it last🤔🤷♂️ maybe like 1hr ? 1hr30 tops? If i buy a 2nd batterie and strap it to a back rack and use it when the 1st dies ? But its an extra 750$ and it says theyre out of stock, maybe they would have to ship it from china if i would need one ? It would be perfect if instead of the twist throttle they give for free as a gift they would change it to a back rack and brake light fenders like the Himalaya has 🤷♂️🤔🤦♂️ that wouldve been perfext for the price point .. the warrior basically comes naked🤷♂️
Based on the range I get out of my 20ah Swift Horse I imagine the warrior will do 60-90 miles tops. Don't take my word for it though. I get 60+ miles on my Swift Horse and I climb a lot of hills. If you can get a second battery I imagine either model will be a good delivery bike. My Swift Horse has been a solid bike, If the other models are built as well and have the same quality of battery I think you would be happy with either one.
Is the rear suspension better on the Himalayas than the Warrior ? Is there a knob on the rear suspension of the warrior?
I am not sure about the front suspension on either model but I suspect they are not great. The rear shock on the warrior is not adjustable. The Himalaya doesn't have a rear suspension, it's a hard tail.
yeah the risk star nut tool from ali it is 😂 great video man, awsome build! im just so sad that there are no other brand options than bafang because i really dont like them that much.
Ding ding, you are correct on the start nut tool supplier. 😂 Thanks, I really enjoyed building it and I love the way it rides. So far the Bafang M820 has been great other than the flaky Bafang app. I solved this problem by buying the K1 flash tool and now I can set the ride parameters up the way I like them. I am considering buying a second motor to have on hand in the event that I need parts down the road.
How much was overall build? And What is approx range?
I came in just under $3200 USD. I ride mostly in sport mode which I adjusted to 60% of the max power. The range is around 30 miles with around 3200 ft elevation gain. I typically charge it after 20-25 miles +~2600ft and have 40-45% battery remaining.
Nice work, looks great. What was shipped price of the frame/motor/battery? Did you get hit with import costs or was it included in the price?
Thanks! I purchased this in December of last year from a supplier on Alibaba and the total cost for the frame, motor, battery, charger, display, cables, cranks, headset, chainring, rear axle, UDH, and mounting hardware was $1783 USD and included shipping and import costs.
@@sandnap Wow that's really well done, I would of expected more for just the frame with motor and battery 👍
Nice video show-casing the LCE930. Thank you.
Glad you liked it!
Interesting to see after RobridesEmtb’s build. Just a thought, the front brake line should go in between the fork and the front wheel… in case you crash on the left and damage the brake line.
Rob's video is excellent, I can't wait for the ride review. Thanks for pointing out the brake line, someone else caught that too. I don't know what I was thinking, I should have known better than that 😵💫. It has since been corrected.
I love mine😊
All good?
Yes, thanks! I can't see any damage to the bike and I only have some scrapes and bruises.
so how good and reliable are those brakes, the lever look alike the magura
Brakes are very strong and reliable so far. The build quality is excellent.
me again were you supplied a chain guide? i’m having trouble fitting mine
I was supplied a chain guide though I already broke and replaced it when I let the bottom of my pants get caught up in the chainring :o. If I remember correctly the mounting screw on the right side was not long enough so I had to provide my own. Other than that I was able to get it installed and working.
@@sandnap bike is running!!! how does it talk to the bafang app via bluetooth? is there a setting on the dpc?
Awesome! I didn't have to do anything to get it to connect other than allow the bluetooth connection on my phone. The app found the bike right away.
In motor kit, did you get the screen? Or did you ask separately?
The motor kit came with the screen and PAS controller.
Anyone know where i can download these codes?
@sandnap What is the max speed you can go with throttle only?
I removed the throttle but when I had it on the max was around 20mph.
Also, it looks like you swapped out your main chain ring?? Is that correct??
I did, I installed a 152mm square hole crankset (104BCD) with a 40T chainring.
Awesome, answered my question about the rear der. upgrade from your other video! Great work and awesome journey!
Thanks!
Can you upgrade the rear derailleur? What is the quality on the stock one?
Definitely can upgrade it but so far this one shifts well so I don't have a reason to upgrade it. Inevitably I will bend it at which point I will probably go with a Shimano Altus to match my new shifter.
No lock tight on the motor mounting screws? It is going to vibrate loose and disassemble itself.
I applied blue locktite on them. I also marked the position of every bolt with white nail polish and check it before every ride. So far nothing has backed out.
Here, are you putting something else inside or only the screw that links to the frame?
I replied in the forum but I'll reply here too! Just the plastic cover, nothing else.
Could you do one for the Freesky Warrior, please 🙏🏽
Unfortunately I am not sure how to gain access to the controller on a Warrior. Sorry, I hope someone else can help out.
Same code for the Warrior. Good news too. You can have the best of both worlds. Keep your controller with cruise control AND use cruise control at the top speed of the bike (ranges from 30-38mph or 48-61kmh depending on grade and wind) by changing the tire size in the settings to 18". Don't actually change your tire size on the bike lol. It will give you the incorrect speed on the display but just use your phone and you will see. Your welcome.
