Thanks, Doris! I am noticing fewer joint pains, and I am starting to sleep better at night. I don’t know if those are directly related to not drinking soda, but I’m sure it at least helps. Plus, I’ve lost about 3 pounds so far.

I really like unsweetened ice tea. The hot teas are new for me. I need to find a variety of herbals that I can combine with the black teas to add flavor. Can’t do sweet. Yuck. Sweet tea is an abomination to God’s intended purpose for tea. If he wanted tea to be sweet, he would have grown it amongst sugarcane. 😜

Thanks, Richard. Kelly introduced me to Sleepy Time Tea a few months ago. It has melatonin in it and helps me rest a little better at bedtime. I’m interested in trying different teas, so might check out Charleston. Kelly recently bought bags for loose leaf teas, so that would be handy. I have a friend from Ireland who told me mint tea NEVER goes with Irish Breakfast tea. Ha. Well, I’m not from Ireland, so I’ll fix it however I want. 😂

Thanks, Doris! Losing 20 pounds is awesome! My hope is to eventually cut out processed sugar, and processed foods altogether. Kelly and I both want to eat cleaner. One day, one decision, one bite at a time.

Thanks for the encouragement, Martin! Seventeen days and I’m still on track with no soda. I’m starting to like hot teas. I recently steeped Irish Breakfast Tea together with Peppermint Herbal Tea. I enjoyed that combination. (I don’t sweeten my tea, so herbal teas help flavor the black teas.) I’ve considered supplements. I’ve taken some in the past, just not recently. Sleepy Time Tea helps me relax and sleep a little better, but I’m not in a good routine with that yet.

We’re in Oklahoma. It’s currently 105°. It’s not typically as humid here as it is there though.

Today is day 5 and no soda. I’ve had a lot of tea. Still need more water. I weighed the other day and I’m at my all time high. I think I might set some goals for the end of the year. Also, in the spring I’ll start wearing shorts when the temperature hits around 40°.

Thank you, Doris. I’m also a big fan of the sweet snacks. That will also be part of the healthy process, but realistically I think if I gave up everything at once I’d be setting myself up for failure. At least that’s how it’s gone every other time. But I’ve already cut back on the sweets, so that’s a start.

Thanks, Martin. I actually got on the scale the day after I made this video. I am at my all-time heaviest weight. Definitely time to change things. There are always excuses to be made, but excuses are good for nothing.

My birthday was great, thanks! I only got off 45 minutes early though. It’s okay. We celebrated with friends on Saturday with a movie and dinner.

I wish I knew. It was my mom’s. She used it for gardening purposes. When she died I started using it. 🤷🏻‍♂️ It comes in handy. Your trash can on wheels makes me think of the little cartoon of the guy following behind the parade cleaning up animal poop. 😜

Oh man, we did pick some for you, but they would’ve gone bad before we got them to you, so we ate half of them with the cake, and Kelly made a cobbler with the rest. 😎

Martin, I hate the heat! I prefer a nice, cool, late autumn day. But I suffer through the summer. Barns originally didn’t get painted because farmers were too poor. But they also needed to protect the wood so they made a weather treatment that included iron oxide. This caused it to stain a red rusty color. Also used was linseed oil that stained the wood a dark coral color. Farmers also found the darker barn absorbed more heat than the plain tan wood, making the barns warmer in the winter. Now it’s just traditional to paint them red. (I had to look this up because I didn’t know either. 😜)

Hey, Richard! The blackberries were delicious. I want to pick fresh blueberries someday. I bet they’re really good. Fresh fruit is always better than store bought.

Thanks, Lisa. It was not bad. We thankfully live in the country. Our closest neighbors are a couple hundred yards away. Their fireworks were still loud, and Bear looked a bit concerned a few times, but he never freaked out. (The dessert was fantastic!)

Ha! Probably so. I always want to grow it long, but I get aggravated with it so I trim it back. I’m probably gonna cut it this weekend.

He’s pretty talented. We saw him and his siblings perform a couple years ago at the Okie Homesteading Expo.

Wow, Martin! That’s deep. I didn’t mean to tax your brain. 😜 There are only a few videos I’ve recorded that I didn’t post. A couple because the content was just “meh” at best. This one was more because I took time to reflect. And while I don’t disagree with what I said, I don’t want to be the guy who becomes edgy in all his videos.

It's funny though, sometimes the videos I think are very ordinary, resonate with people in unexpected ways & generate lots of comments & others that I'm quite proud of - just the wind whistling in the trees! Haha, deep!! Sometimes I think I have a bottomless well of stupidity to draw from but as long as we improve a tiny bit every day, then we're on the right track! PS smart move not killing yourself in intense heat - I agree, heatstroke is very dangerous! :)

We have plenty to do for awhile inside out of the heat, so no worries there. I might try to mow the yard this evening while it’s in the cool of the 90s though. 😜 I might wait on the soapbox until I do a LIVE so I’m not as “in your face” about things. We’ll see. I saw years ago where Pedialyte was a favorite of Kid Rock for after a show.

Yeah, Martin. We have considered a rescue multiple times. Kelly regularly shares posts with me from a local shelter. There have been some beauties. Give me the cold 99 times out of 100 and I’ll be happy. Our summer heat gets oppressive.

Always like to listen to your "ramblings." I wish I had the courage to talk to the camera as comfortably as you. My daughter's dog is on some kind of anxiety med. She was adopted and returned so many times that she is protective of the family and not too friendly to non-family members. I hope the dog training helps. I've never been a dog owner, so I have no opinions on that front.

@@whatsupwithrichard I just start talking or telling a story like someone is with me and it translates to the camera. It’s not nearly as easy to do when people are around though. Even around a group of other RUclipsrs I am self conscious about it. But in the safety of my pickup or backyard, I’m good.

Hey, Doris. I generally try to outline it in some way. Currently I have printed out the passage and am writing notes and questions directly on the page so I can put things together better. It depends on the passage I preach on too. I might outline the main points. I might dig into each couple of verses. I might even read the passage then retell the story with more detail. Hope that answers the question. It’s been a long time since I’ve preached semi regularly, so I’m almost relearning the process of preparing.
