Just another great time out and about with my girl! It's Autumn here in New England now and the Sun is getting lower and the breezes always are cool now and the night work on sucking the heat out of the water in our lakes, ponds, rivers and streams.

Linda & I head out to P - Town a few times a year and find the fall trip is a little less crowded and you have the venders all to yourself at a more relaxed pace. The weather is still mild and the scenery is always spectacular and the people are always a lot more human.
West River Class 2 Trip Sept 21st 2024

A video of my recent trip down the west River in Jamaica, Vermont. The last time I ran this class 2 section was 1985 with my son in an 18 foot Grumman aluminum canoe. I ran it this time in my Jackson Zen Kayak. It was a little perkier than I remember but I was younger then, ha.

The Taunton River again

It have a special connection to the Taunton River it was the first river I ran in my Grumman 18' canoe back in 1970 when I bought it. I have run its many sections a few times but lately I have been distracted by other rivers and have down sized to a 9' kayak. 40lbs vs. 85lbs is a big difference to me now at 77 years old and the symmetry of two paddles makes the job of paddling much easier. My girlfriend Linda likes to make the rounds to the different towns sponsoring "Free Concerts" in the area. On Friday August 2nd we had the privilege to experience the Vyntyge Skynyrd group who definitely made the night fun. Thank you to the Town of Hingham and the Vyntyge Skynyrd band for the toe tapping, jumping, dancing and singing along good time..

It's Summer time, Summer time and I am out and about enjoying biking, working in the garden and Kayaking. On my latest trip out on the pond I found a new swing at one of the camping areas and no one around. Who could resist? Certainly not this old man.

I have a small house with a small yard and I hate grass. I have a pear tree, two apple trees and a peach tree, all dwarfs. I have four Grape vines and a small vegetable garden. Flowers, wild and perennials. It's Spring, it's June, and come with me and take a look.

Beautiful shots. This area is a hidden gem. Missed you by a day. I launched from the nail factory for a new year’s kayak trip to start the year right. The area has much to offer. Just this weekend i saw a bald eagle on the Agawam. My channel has the video of it.

Alex B. they are gates. There was a white water slalom race that weekend and the contestants had to travel through the polls, in order (they are numbered), as fast as they can.

I have run class two rapids several times with my 119. It does OK. But you don,t want to go to sleep on it, that flat bottom will flip you with out warning.
Yes, I was amazed at how it rolled over in a little eddy when I hit a rock just beneath the surface in it . Class II is fun but I wouldn't venture into anything higher in it!
I'm interested in this kayak for river trips. My concern is with cross currents. With any of my four fishing kayaks, all sit inside models, if I cut across current the water grabs the bow or stern and pulls that part downstream hard. I was hoping that this boat would around that with the canoe hull design. What's your experience?

@@SGM97B Yes that happens with all kayaks and canoes and there is a technique you must use to counter it. You must cross the eddy line and keep an angle to current that matches the speed of the current and you must lean the craft downstream from the current as you cross. You must then lean the opposite way as you enter the eddy on the other side. Check out some You tube videos to see how it is done.

I'm with you Tony. I've been canoeing for 65 of my 75. Took my first solo overnight canoe trip when I was 13. Still love it though I just can't do all I used too. lol Fun video, thank you.

This vid was amazing. Calm, peaceful, informative. I just took on a restoration project for a Dagger 9.0. Came to YT looking for info. Your bid was the most pleasing. Soo much potential for this little boat that I did anticipate. I’m a big guy over 260 so don’t think I’ll be using it but the teen kids and nieces should have a ball. Thank you! Did a bit of guided sea kayaking/camping & a 4 day run in a Canadian down the Spey many years ago - and have a hankering to get back onto water & under 'canvas'. Aiming to pack the hammock, tarp & sleeping bag behind the seat & find some quiet lochside spots for a wee fire & some meditation / 'forest bathing'. Lang may yer lum reek :-) Namaste, Colin
Thank you Colin, There is so much adventure and tranquility awaiting us in the outdoors and I have found my Zydeco 9 to be a great vehicle to get me out there to enjoy that "Forest Bathing". We are never too old to indulge at 74yrs young I'm not quitting anytime soon.
