Although this suggestion is not related to the current film reaction I have a suggestion of an older classic award winning movie , "Marty" 1955. I think you would enjoy it.

The performance of Ian Holm(Bilbo from LOTR) as Ash is so good. You saying he feels like uncanny valley is exactly what he must have been going for with his role that it is amazing someone can catch that as quickly as you did in this.

This movie went through a lot of changes. Michael J Fox was t the original Marty McFlu. The original Time Machine was a refrigerator. They shopped this move everywhere and no one wanted to make it until they got to Spielberg. They didn’t have any sequels written because they didn’t know if this movie would make any money. They added the to be continued as a contingency not really intending to do any sequels.

I feel that Shawshank Redemption is the best movie EVER made!!! What is REALLY gonna pickle your brains though 🤯 (which NOT many people know or figured out) is that, if you pay attention to the timeline and I mean REALLY pay attention, like, mathematically work it out, 🤔 Andy Dufresne COULD have escaped from Shawshank Prison a WHOLE YEAR EARLIER than he did!!! The tunnel was already dug, and he had his escape plan worked out, 🧠 BUT, he stayed the extra year to help young Tommy work through his high school equivalency and pass the exam! 👨‍🎓 The fact that Warden Norton had him shot 4 times in the back by CPT Hadley 💀 for threatening to prove the innocence of his golden goose, was the final straw that broke the camels back so he thought "fuck it" I've had enough and I'm off, 🖕 cos I am TOO valuable in here and he (the warden) is NEVER gonna let me get outta here otherwise! 🙁 His time in the hole (the 2 months) the warden thought was punishing Andy for, ONLY gave him the time required to think of a way to screw HIM (the Warden) over and get some MUCH needed payback!!! 👌 So he came up with the plan to hit him where it hurts the most, in his pockets and his reputation! 🤑 Hope this helps and sheds a little light on this fairly unknown plot twist for you?! 😁 The other thing I found REALLY humorous is that for the more eagle eyed 👀 of your viewers out there (you yourself picked up on this one hun which impressed the hell outta me!), 👍 you will notice that Andy's rock hammer was hidden in the bible at the start of the book of Exodus (you notice the warden skips RIGHT to it where the string marker is?!?!) 😂 The word "Exodus" in Latin means "To exit or to depart" which I find the REAL irony of that scene and just TOO funny!!! lol 🤣😂🤣😂 x

Many of the ending scenes of this movie were filmed in my hometown or the town next over. Perfect trilogy, just like the Godfather trilogy. And to think Hollywood wants to reboot/remake this movie. SMFH.

So the existential crisis gets solved in the end when the past history is rewritten and therefore old news is erased and a new existence comes into play. So it's actually helpful to take the film's singular premise on its own terms, like one would the two definitive Terminator films. So their paradoxical thought experiments play out so well and again doesn't allow for strange territory questions of timelines... So they never really deal in timelines as a theory which, to be fair, I dunno if Einstein himself did either? And he himself wasn't so sure about the actual existence of black holes, if I'm not mistaken, even if his equations and math showed it. Nor did Einstein, until later on, believe in an expanding universe, much less a universe whose expansion accelerates. Clara wouldn't disrupt the time space continuum since she doesn't have a present/future counterpart like Marty/Doc actually do, nor have any extant descendants down the line as she was originally fated to perish in the canyon and not have any kids to speak of. So her coming to the present that was her future with her now husband who himself time-travels and they have kids together is destiny stepping in to alter her fate. And this doesn't disrupt the time space continuum like meeting one's future or past self MIGHT by altering one's history that led up to being who/what/where/HOW one is today, in the present. Her previous fated death on an appropriate railroad doesn't set off nor prevent a world-changing catastrophe. It becomes a news article on the naming of the canyon, having no descendants until she met Doc, as is her destiny to meet him and alter her then fate. I think Doc's wisdom at the end is not only meant for the film's inspirational send off to the audience and the characters but I personally think it holds a meaningful thought that yes in our one singular lifetime as we experience it, that we can only experience for ourselves at one time in this lifetime, no matter how many timelines exist elsewhere or other-where for our lives, we can always change the course of our future, of our lives, in this one lifetime we experience, in some way. It isn't written in stone or predetermined wholly by fate. What's a good way to recommend content that touches on questions of science/scifi, fate, timelines, incursions, violations of the cosmic "order" without pre-spoiling? Anyway, hope it makes it through in the ether for the channel at some point. So in the BTTF universe, only one timeline exists that we can work on. The more compelling and grounded thought experiment in my opinion, that's more relevant to us, notwithstanding the whole concept being paradoxical, of not being able to alter one's singular past. So no alternate timelines exist in BTTF, as we know from the fading photographs, and fading hands in part one. More so than the actual more scientifically entertained idea of branching timelines in much of quantum physics, which is above my holiday inn pay grade. Even if it's a mystical concept, granted we always change our timelines wherever we go and whatever we do that in a way that would be compelling enough to ignite a chain reaction.

I saw this movie when it originally came out in theaters, and it still sticks with me. It kind of became part of me. There are a few movies have done that. Also, I agree about the "being a parent" thing. I have 2 daughters and we saw this movie together. After watching, other than the fact we were a mess, they didn't want to let me go. They asked if I would do what Cooper did and leave or stay. I told them, even as hard as it would be, I would go to try to save their future. They held onto me even tighter.

It doesn't matter who is the "original" and who is "the clone". They're "all your hat", as Tesla said. They're both the exact same person, with the same history, memories, personality, etc. Being slightly displaced in space doesn't make you less "you". That's what "the clone" tried to say before he got shot originally. That's also what he meant at the end when he said he never knew if he'd be the one in the tank, or the one in the Prestige. Because, from both their point of view, they were both the exact same person who just introduced the trick and walked into the box.
