We baled over 100 square bales on Maxfield Road. All went well until the baler twine had a break. It took about 20 minutes to get back to baling.

Last 2 seconds of the multi-rib and not a word about them...😕
Amen in the election Ray, the cows are looking good and blessed wishes as winter sets in.
👍
Loys of feed thrre yet. Our pastures shut off the middle of july and never had any decent rain to turn back on . I counted 16 i think. I like that brown one number 388. You should retag him 47.
@@AgWildNebraska I like the 47 idea yup they’re 16 there
Kamel toe was an empty head. Never even won a primary, but was selected. Most of my friends are Trump supporters. The vegans I know who supported the Dumbocrats have had a complete meltdown. The real problem is that we have the Fed lowering rates and preparing 20 trillion of QE for next year to inflate some more. On Trump's side there is RFK and rumors Joel Salatin will be involved.
Acorn crop is the best deer feed too. Agree with your political analysis.
Good evening Ray. Definitely worked out well!!🇺🇸
Try using a credit card and a flat surface to separate the meat's from the shell scraping off one part into a pan or bowl and the 0ther part into another ✌️🙏❤️saves time .
People are greedy and jealous. I will be there to help you when you are down. BUT I would expect the same treatment. I grew up with people who's Word was solid as granite. You get sold out for a penny a pound.
Happy Monday Ray and hope you have a blessed week my friend.
Wow, excellent idea!
I'm having the same problem, took collor loose, ball bearing out and wedges. It still stuck I've beat on it used pry bars. Is there something wrong with the splines. Massage me on f b
What twine weight works for you with this setup? Seems that this push feed wagon loading setup can be a bit harder on twine that is not up to snuff.
Nice looking hay. How's your hay situation you this year.
I tell you what this is the first year in about four years that I’m going into the winter with probably enough hay to satisfy my customers and enough for my livestock to get through the winter. Are you getting any regrowth yet?
Nice stuff Ray. 👍
Thank you got lucky the weather cooperated
@@michiganhay7844 Wish I had some second cut. We've had 3 weeks in the mid 80s low humidity no rain.
@@farawayfarm2520 I know it’s hard to do some years that far north
Awesome video and darn nice looking hay.....
Thank you yes turned out being nice third cutting Alfalfa be worth some money this winter
I knew I liked your channel. The minute I heard Def Leppard
Blast from the 1980s good old music I grew up listening to
I have a second season stand on river ground. First season only 2 cuttings. This year I did 3 cuttings. I was frustrated with all 3 cuttings. It was lodged and struggling. I cut outside rows and then lowered cutter. Did a lot better after that. I feel like all I put in bales were stems. I hope you get more comments. Because I definitely need to manage different next year. I really thought 3rd cutting would be standing up. But it was laying down as well. It was definitely worse in some areas.
Yeah, I’m gonna manage it differently next year. I’m gonna write on first cutting tilt that all the way and even go over against the Lodge direction a couple times if I have to, I don’t wanna live with us again
Another satisfying day bringing in the hay. I am getting an 80's flashback here!
Yeah, this way I let him know what kind of music we listen to back then
Nice cutting Ray, thanks for sharing and hope you have a blessed week my friend.
👍

You want to see lodged hay grow teff grass, you look at it wrong and it falls over. . .alfalfa has to be cut short so it regrows from the crown and not the stems. My stand quality and tonnage has improved since I started cutting alfalfa short. The say it takes half the energy for it to grow from the crown instead of existing chutes. . .Another benefit is it stays pure alfalfa as other plants don't like cut height and schedule.
Couple things there make real sense one thing I never heard before was about the energy growing from the crown versus the stem never thought about that or knew that thanks
@@michiganhay7844 You know how to get ahold of me if you ever want to. Alfalfa is an awesome crop and I have really been focusing on managing and knowledge of it. Alot of people advertise alfalfa and its got 10-15% grass in it, to my that's a mix not "Alfalfa". I love growing alfalfa!
Nice looking alfalfa! Not much you can do to get all the lodged stuff.. clover and alfalfa will usually send up new shoots and the lodged stuff will go back into the soil.. We planted alfalfa once when I was a kid, no idea what variety.. then we made alfalfa on someone else's ground, they planted it and watered it, would let us know when it was ready.. Bush hog probably won't clean that up, probably need a flail.. but if it's been trained to grow low. That should help.
Beautiful! September alfalfa is the best. We make a wagon load every year for animals that might get sick or thin. I’ve had intermittent problems with lodging with alfalfa…generally when it’s too old.
Bermudagrass would do that if there was a strong storm, the trick to get it growing back up again was to mow it low. I have never seen alfalfa growing in person.
I think after First cutting next year if I need to, I’ll go back and mow it with some type of rotary mower clean up that lodged stubble
Self-sufficiency 👌🙂…but I despise milking cows after doing it as a child 🤷♂️😉. I wish I was at the “thinning down” phase 😉😉😂
I tell you the more meat and saturated fat like butter and eggs the thinner I get pies and desserts other things that get you
There's probably a reason we milk a cow. People don't even know what good food is anymore.
@@farawayfarm2520 you got that right!! Don't even know what squeaky cheese is about!!!
@@shaneholst6940Thanks Shane. I feel like a good part of what I'm farming for is so I can eat better.
Eating better and the main thing is staying active a lot of research is shown high activity is as important or more important than diet even
Sending home carnivore ice cream with your mom tomorrow. I will send you the ice cream in a bag recipe too.
You’re a sweetheart
Thanks Hope we are so impressed and thankful for teaching Mother how to make that ice cream I can’t believe how easy it is specially that video you sent me about the carnivore ice cream
You got that right Ray! America's do settle for garbage for food!😜 Home made or for an Amish store is the only way to get real. Thanks for sharing 👍
Hey Shane, yeah you dairy people out to be pissed that they’re cheating up the ice cream and not buying more milk and cream for their product
Needs to be more of this content out there!
Glad you like it, Evan maybe I’ll do more stuff like this
Great video Ray, it really makes one think about what we are putting in our bodies. Thanks for sharing and hope you have a blessed weekend my friend.
Yeah, especially you being in the medical industry. You see the effects of this Dailey in your job.
I can send you our homemade ice cream recipe. Milk, eggs, cream, vanilla, sugar. Ours uses raw eggs but we haven't croaked yet. Every birthday and Independence Day we make it.
Yeah send it to me that’s exactly what I’m looking for thanks. Only one brand had eggs my guess it was cheaper to use some compound in its place. Do you use an ice cream maker?
Nice video my friend❤
Thank you so much
Looks like a great habitat for bees and butterflies.
Crabgrass seems like an ideal plant for areas that won't grow anything else. The only problem with it is it needs a winter crop further north to lock in the nutrients of the soil in the winter. Winter wheat or maybe or Poa annua, could possibly do the trick over winter?
You did a great job. Have a great week.
Looks like decent hay. I was able to make some hay and put it in the barn. No irrigation water but got some Fertilizer with anticipation of rain and BAM was really lucky and got some good rain on the hay field. Vids coming. Have a great week Ray.
Enjoyed the different clips and the music Ray. Thanks for sharing and hope you have a blessed day and week ahead my friend.
Seems like it's a year for lodged hay. That crabgrass is interesting. I think I disliked picking sticks and roots in reclaimed fields more than rocks as a kid.
Even with the rollers backed off all the way, it's still going to break the stems a little bit.. That looks pretty good!!
I didn’t realize it still break some stems that’s good to know
I absolutely hate them fields that you know you are going to hit things, and it's just a matter of how bad!
Makes you wonder how the field was cleared. Decades ago when we had hay fields they had a drag rake for picking up that crap and they could be pulled by an atv so the farmer would get his kids to ride around and pick the crap up . Another trick was to re-mow after cutting hay at a lower height and then walk the fields. Lots of labor though.
I just didn’t have time to properly get everything picked up. I’ll have to do it in stages.
@@michiganhay7844 There is never enough time to get everything done it seems! You would get a laugh out of a technique I used with a skid steer and a long handled garden rake!
@@chargermopar I’ve probably tried it before
Nice looking hay. I have watched some of your other videos on crabgrass and I appreciate those as I am trying to learn more about it . I plan on seeding some of it next spring. Thank you 👍
What state are you in?
@@michiganhay7844 It's going to be planted in Minnesota.
@@danr1030 do you have any more questions? Just let me know.
What variety of Crabgrass do you like best?
That’s a pretty tough field but you’ll get it in tip top shape soon. Have fun at you r family reunion.
😳
I will have to walk the field when you are done
Great video of a tractor exhaust hahaha
Nice talk Ray, very interesting and hope you have a blessed day and holiday weekend ahead my friend.
I baled with a worn out NH 273 baler back in the 80s as a teenager........very finicky baler. Would miss a knot about every 75 bales. Would shear pins if the windrows were too heavy. Crooked bales were the norm.......
