Staying in a Fire Lookout | Clear Lake Cabin
The skies are clearing up and the sun is starting to shine again! That's right, it is summer in Oregon and we are getting ourselves back outside. For the first trip of the season, Kennedi and I made our way to the fire lookout cabin at Clear Lake (Mt. Hood, OR).
We spent two nights in the cabin and brought all of our food and water, as there is no running water at the top of the butte. We had 360 views of the area around us, and got to witness some amazing sunsets! Let me know if you have any questions about the stay in the comments.

It's our anniversary weekend, and we decided to spend it backpacking the Elk Mountain to King's Mountain Loop. We hopped on Highway 6 going west on stopped right between the Oregon Coast and Portland. After a quick few miles, we set up camp along the Wilson River Trail, then hit it hard in the morning. We summited Kings Mountain before 9 am, but the rest of the trail gets difficult. High elevat...

Decided to get outside and do a winter edition of Abandoned Oregon! These places were fairly well known if you're from Oregon, but hopefully everyone enjoys seeing them regardless. A short hike down a foresting road led me to this abandoned cabin, and ...

So good. Underrated fo sho
Beautiful. !!
Your art is underestimated.
Great sights but Ditch the music.... it's very distracting and you don't even describe any history about the sites you visit.
Awesome video!!!
that was the power house for the saw mill
that tunnel collapsed, that was shoring because it was only sand stone
that boat washed ashore in 1996
What's up with Oregon? No respect for anything there.
I was trying to pause the video to get the combo for that padlock I think I got it
Epic video bruh
Kinda bummed there weren't any shots of gunnar nude 😕
🥶😩
Such a great video. I am thinking I need a stainless steel cup like the one on your pack.
Pretty cool to wear a mask out in the middle of nowhere
And all by himself....
Makes me not want to watch the videos, but at least he’s not teaching or trying to impart any wisdom lol, I most certainly wouldn’t give him a second of my time in that case. Absolutely moronic.. wonder if he feels dumb now lol..
I thought this was a free country? Mind your damn business. 🗡️🗡️🗡️
Super cool places. Thanks for the adventures.
boag any relation to like gary or mark boag ex jockys back in the day????
There's no place like home damn I wish I could move home but disability just don't pay enough for me and my family to live there
Forest, open air, no one else around.....mask ? Switch off
Amazing production! I thought you’d have at least one million subs, you definitely deserve more attention.
It was nice seeing that you did the tunnel. One of my sons and I hit that tunnel in August, I believe. We hiked from one end through it to the other side. But we did not come out staying dry. A headlamp and protective helmet is encouraged. A flashlight would work, but there is a lot of areas where you need to use your hands to support yourself. It is definitely a challenging trail, but it can be done. Eventually I will get the video posted up on my channel. Thanks for posting up this video! I just subscribed to your channel earlier today.
Because our population density is so low, a lot of it feels abandoned all the time.
Up the Siletz River there is an abandoned town I have heard about. Thank you
Take you stupid mask off! There is no need for you to breath in the carbon dioxide that you are exhaling.

is this british cigarette hiking alone OUTSIDE wearing a ritualistic shame muzzle? Loser
We did a pinhole photo shoot at the Vernonia mill years ago before the no trespassing signs.. The Mill in Vernonia is posted no trespassing. Might want to avoid arrest visiting this one. The park next door is accessible for a fee. Edit: At least you confirmed what I posted before finishing the video. People will be arrested if caught, so weigh your options carefully.
isn't stop 3 is in Washington state side? Been there a few times and you can actually rent rooms there
It is. He mentions that after the switch to the next shot. Lazy production IMO.
You better stop, hey! What's that sound. Everybody look what's going down.
Our family spent many summers living in the lighthouse keepers house behind the light at Warrior Rock. A two story victorian style house. Our water supply came from the huge water tower at the southwest corner of the house. The rear of the house had a door the opened into a generator room with a diesel engine the supplied lights for the house... the fireplace was all riverrock and was large enough to heat the entire house. I recall falling asleep in the upstairs bedroom on foggy nights seeing the flash of the light on the wall and hearing the bell ring.. this is on the Columbia River south of St Helens not on the Wilamatte river as stated in the video..
The house was broken into during the time we had the house. I remember pulling into the dock and my dad telling me to go below deck. He had noticed that the front window was broken and the front door was open. We went back downstream while my dad radioed the sheriff. when they arrived I watched them got into the house to make sure no one was still inside. We got the all clear and when I got on the porch I could see the broken window and the blood everywhere from the culprits wound after the had broken the window to gain access. All of the contents of the house had been gone through and thrown everywhere. A sight I still remember well is seeing where they had decided that instead of starting a fire in the fireplace the started one in the middle of the living room floor that left the basement visible.... beer cans everywhere the house was never occupied again. They were able to get fingerprints and arrested the goofball days later..... By the way... we were told by the previous owner that the house was very well haunted by sailors that lost their lives while hitting the rock..
Good video the extended music at the beginning was a little excessive but I liked your choice of music and placement and editing a little more description on the locations while you were there and possibly a little history on those locations would be excellent I love taking trips to abandoned places as well you did miss the bunkers that are on the Washington side just outside of ilwaco that's an excellent hike my family and I lived in Ocean Park for a few years.
I'm new to your channel. I love Oregon to and its close to my heart ❤ I call southwest Oregon home and there is alot of really cool stuff around here to and all the small Old Logging towns. The old families that came out here in the pioneer days and the family that's still here today and the story's they tell. Just way cool & how interesting !!!
I would rather hear info about the surroundings. I’m not sure where you are or what you are looking at. Just some music. What a loss.
Looking back on the video, I think I definitely should have added more commentary. I’m just a sucker for music but I’m always learning!
@@clips4z You'll get better as you do more work. I'm happy that you are taking criticism constructively.
Sophie’s Homestead and then you should Go to the sanctuary next-door
Warrior Rock Light is on the Columbia River not the Willamette. It is also now owned, not sure what the new owners are going to do with it yet. I remember about 50 Years ago when we had a Spring flood and a tugboat pushing a barge ran into it and took a good chunk out of it. It took them some time to get it repaired. I also remember that the Keeper's House was a very nice 2 story but no one had lived there during my lifetime and it was burned down by idiots not so many Years ago.
I was very concerned when I heard that the lighthouse had been moved to the Willamette. Such a difficult, and pointless task considering that (last I checked) It was still being used for navigation on the Columbia.
dude I hiked through that abandoned tunnel. Came out covered in mud.
I’m late to the party but Mr. Reents I couldn’t have said it better myself
Thank you GBoag for going out and taking one for the team, let alone document a POV experience so we may all travel through your lenses. Cheers to the Wild Life! 🙌
I will not have to be able do
That was pretty cool 😎
Unbelievable content #gy
My family grew up in astoria and nappa. When my father passed we spread his ashes in the ocean by the peter aredale and put yellow tulips on the bow of the shipwreck. Cant go through the area without saying hello.
No subtitle for us def folks... But its cool i been to all these spots... Live in Oregon...
New subscriber here came across your channel the name of this video caught my attention! I enjoyed this one very much. I'm from Oregon and have lived here most of my life except 3 years. ❤❤❤
ran into a naked dude with a giant spider as a face when we visited the UFO lol
How can something be "pretty cool" and "popular" when it is covered in graffiti? Graffiti sprayers are vandals who should have their spray cans inserted where the sun doesn't shine.
Because it adds character it becomes part of the history
Shut it old man
@@fiabands You talking to me?
Graffiti on metal surfaces covers rust and can help to prevent (or slow down) the oxidation process. I don't personally graffiti things, but I do realize that especially in abandoned places the graffiti "artists" are the only people putting "a fresh coat of paint" anywhere. If you don't like the graffiti, please feel free to buy materials and paint the entire structure the same color all by yourself... at least then you would be trying to preserve something.
Hi Bro, I am Phani from India Joining the Oregon State University this fall can you provide some tips, can you make a university tour video.
This is actually really awesome I’ve been trying to get out and do a lot of similar things like this living down here in Southern Oregon a lot of her a band in areas are quite hard to get into but I do have a video on my RUclips channel of an abandoned hydroelectric power house on the rogue River near Gold Hill.
