Mine is a non-foundation 49k vin. I’ve run cables through the area and can say that there is no double sided tape. It must of been changed to use clips as I had clips where on a video I saw had the tape.
Yeah, it's funny. Mine seemed perfectly fine but during a recent service appointment they replaced them anyways. Must be replacing everyone who had tape with clips. I'm not sure what I had, never looked.

I was super confused.. figured it was a rectangle, but once I saw the orientation, it's easy. Now I have to search for clips, as mine came with three, and there's weren't more in the bag the shade was in.

Officially in the manual there is only flat and the 12 degree option. That 20 degree option is just a hack and looks like it would put unusual tension angles on that cable. Manual section: Adjusting the Opening Height of the Tailgate
I totally agree! The "20°option" and heavy loads results in a tailgate that no longer closes due to bent pins and kinked / weekend supporting cables.
Yep, 100% agree with this comment. Definitely an off label use and I’d avoid any load on the gate with this option.
Thanks for the tip. Have you heard about the axle bolts coming loose, can ruin the splines, disabling without warning. Some kind of lock is needed.
