Pins and studs in LEGO are close to 5 mm in diameter so we use a slightly smaller drill diameter. This gives a good friction connection from pin or stud to hole. You may need an adapter in LEGO Technic that goes from X (or Plus ) axle on the motor to round shaft or hole.

Potentiometer has 2 legs. Two of them are connected together. Then each outside pin goes into the circuit to change resistance by turning control knob. Cut a hole in center of LEGO baseplate. Put a small GeekServo DC motor under baseplate and a plastic LEGO Technic pin on motor axle to spin the baseplate.

Using MakeCode programming for Micro:bit and the BST M_Bit app on any cell phone we have a Yahboom power expansion board : Super:bit board for motors. We printed a rear skid plate which stabilizes the bot.
