Can you make a review of Kaufmann Topline cutters?
Thanks for the video. I got a sigma 4 series 150 for cutting granite porcelain tiles 120x60 cm. Problem is that i get a lot o chips. Sometimes to the corner near me and sometimes in the corner farther away. Is it possible to identify what is going wrong with my cutting technique by the type of failure? What i found that it is useful is to score it multiple times. I know that it is a wrong technique but it works for me with a little filing afterwards.
Could be because you are pressing to hard or the actual tile has a tendency to chip, maybe the scoring wheel is blunt, always try and keep the same pressure from start to finish, sometime you just have to put up with the chips on certain tiles if your using the above points, hope this helps
Very helpful video, but I would like to ask how would you cut a large format porcelain tile where you only need to cut off 50mm from the end? does the same process work?--and only asking as that's exactly what I need to do, thanks in advance
guys stop showing straight cuts...everybody is showing the same thing...most walls are not straight..
Subscribed half way through video :)
What would you recommend if you dont have a wet cutter?
Sigma tile cutters for fast and quality cuts the best tile cutter tbh
Amazing videos, thanks for posting
Zoom in we need to see the blades
Thank b
Why are you comparing the professional-grade Sigma tile cutter with Rubi, which is targeted at beginners (one of Rubi’s cheapest segments)? I’ve been working with the Rubi TX for over eight years and have never been disappointed with my choice. Moreover, guys who have worked with the Rubi TX or Rubi TZ stop using Sigma altogether
Ive used higher end rubis and that rubi cuts better than higher end rubi and sigmas
I have Rubi HIT1200 for all those 120cm tiles and Rubi HIT850 for smaller jobs. I feel like Rubi HIT models are the best on the market. It’s sad they don’t make smaller version of it for 60cm tiles
I'm good at Tiling but the works is not coming, please i need more ideas and skills. Thank you
How do you measure up for a mitered tile corner please
amazing - the exact video I needed, thanks for sharing the knowledge
Which one is the best for use between the two you making an example with?
Porcelain is the best material as it is harder wearing and less likely to chip or crack and comes with better designs however its more difficult to cut, check out another one of my videos on how to cut hard porcelain
A demo is worth a thousand words. Sadly it was too zoomed out to see much.
Hi There. Great video. Thanks. I'd like to know ? What size notch in mm ? is best to use on a 12 x 12 inch tile ? U or Square notch ?
Use a 10mm square shaped trowel for this size tile
Thank you for your great explanation! Great job!!
To get 6mm bed which trowel is required? ( Double buttering method)
use a 12mm square shaped notched trowel on the floor and also back skim the tile flat with adhesive
How about long tiles 120cm?
Blimey I’m cheap but then I’m a handyman although done quite a few bathrooms/kitchens (complete remodel & I do everything). I always just charge by the day £220.
In the tile industry every manufacturer says you have to use their primer for their adhesive or it will fail blah blah but I believe they are all SBR derivatives ? Could you just use any SBR as a sole go to primer for tiling?
Yes SBR is much cheaper and will prime most surfaces ready for tiling, just dilute it 2 parts water to 1 part primer, saves a lot against manufacturers acrylic primers, leave to dry until it goes sticky or dry then tile
@ excellent, thanks.
Nice channel, thanks.
This was helpful. Thanks
well done , Great job on all your videos i've seen so fare👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👍
@@GerKelleher thank you
Well done👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
From the bottom of my heart thank you for this video ❤ I’m a DIYer and always used wet cutter. I bought a sigma 2 series to do our upstairs bathroom and couldn’t work out how to use it…kept breaking tiles 😂😂😂
You are so welcome!
Have a sigma for over 6 years. Brilliant cutter
Montolit
hello, will this go directly over setting tile for shower? and other ways to build showers and tubs?
I think you can turn the handle around if you prefer push right?
which model do you have
All of the tile cutters sub £100 on Screwfix seem to have bad reviews. Can you recommend one you think does the job for Porcelain tiles without breaking the bank? (I have 450 x 450mm tiles to cut)
Are there instructions how to fit, cut victorian high glaze tiles?
Just to be clear- pull to score means pulling the bar up while moving to lower the wheel and score, regardless of whether you slide it towards or away from you. You can unbolt and swap the rail 180 degrees to swing the handle round if you prefer, and convert from push to pull by just buying the handle separately. On the gen 4 cutters, NEX is push, UP is pull to score
Thanks for adding this info
Finally! You wouldn't believe how many RUclips videos I've watched that claim to explain the difference and this video was by far the best at explaining and also giving me a practical test I can do to check. I've watched 3 of your videos today as I'll shortly be embarking on my first tiling job and your teaching method and delivery are excellent!
Thank You, been teaching tiling for 20 years now, glad you enjoy the videos
Excellent lesson, great information. Thanks 😊

Which cutter are you using at the momentum
Been told , sigma are the Toyato of tile cutters . Do the job Never Fail Last Year's Built like a tank is it worth the money . Or is Rubi just as good ?
@Ste2023 the rubi tx 710 max is great but the sigma when you get used to them are on another level for accuracy of cuts and build, the 4 series comes with a laser which makes life much easier to see the cut line
@@ukprotilingtraining676 thank you. which sigma do u recommend on a budget
@Ste2023 if you look on Facebook marketplace you might be able to pick one up there, most tiles in domestic situations are usually under 600mm or under so something like a 62, 67 or 72cmm size, if you need to buy one the the one I'm using in the video is a 2b3 model which will do the job, next one up is the 3 series then if you can stretch up to the 4 series with the laser would be the best one, try and get the push to score though
Excellent explanation. Clear and address all the points needed to know. Thanks
@@ukprotilingtraining676 thank you. More vid on cutting with virtex Mach .. various tile materials ..ie should U put tile face down or use masking tape to stop (breakout )
It would have been helpful if you zoomed in on the blades, oh well, thanks anyway.
Next time
So useful! Thanks again. Will buy a 10mm as recommended!
A close up would've been nice.
will do next time
Great vid, as always. Thanks for all your info
@@luketerry1745 thank you, glad you enjoyed it, got some more good ones coming in next few weeks
Which size trowels do you use on your jobs
Great video. Been qualified tiler for 3 years and not once did college cover different types of grinder blades. Thank you sir
no problem, glad you enjoyed the video
Hi Darren, what tile cutter are you using here?
@@TheCarpentersDaughterUK hi, the green cutter is a genesis 600 super pro tile cutter with a 6mm Rubi TS scoring wheel for ceramics or use a 8mm for porcelain, any of the rubi or sigma cutters should make this cut as well, the genesis is quite cheap at around £80, hope this helps, darren
